Well I've wanted to lose weight for a little while now.
I tried GI a couple of month ago, and I actually lost like 4kg in three weeks. However, I can't ass myself to get back on the diet, since it feels like it'll take too long, and I have to make my own food and stuff.
Anyways, if I go out and walk about 30-60 minutes each day (during the night/afternoon sometime), what more should I think about? Thanks all science guys, I know you'll give me elaborate responses, lol.

I heard not eating will only make me go up in weight, since when I can't take it anymore I'll just eat loads and loads ;D

Just try to cut back on calories, eat healthier food, snack throughout the day and don't eat big meals. Don't drink cokes and all that shit, stick with good ole' H2O.
Can try jogging instead of walking, or power walking at least.

Skipping breakfast is just bad. I need to eat quite much to be able to work all day, otherwise I'll just eat loads of sugar and such while I work, fucking up my weight even more.

well if its too hard go jogging before having breakfast, that way your body will use the fat for the exercise, not the food you had for breakfast.

I've tried doing exercise before breakfast. Just can't bother with it, to be honest. I'll just get too tired.

Lol, i hope you are being sarcastic Zwarp (besides your last post).
I know doctors say to have a fulfilling breakfast:
I wonder what it would be like if you reversed your meals, having a large breakfast, with all food groups, and cereal for dinner.
Since I have never had weight problems, I won't pretend to empathize, but surely the "cbf" approach isn't going to help...

I've been eating like crazy since I started working out, lifting, but I'm still losing weight. I get up in the mornings and spend 20-30 minutes on the elliptical, then I do different body part workouts, on the weight machine or dumbbells, free weights, everyday but Sunday. I eat wheaties with milk for breakfast, usually something else a little later, just whatever is around like bacon or w/e. Then I eat tons throughout the day, turkey/ham sandwiches, pancakes, etc. etc. Yet...I'm losing weight. Might be something to do with me not having a thyroid maybe, having taking synthroid. I don't know how that really affects anything...

Doesn't the thyroid release hormones that balance your metabolism? Although, I suppose the drugs are supposed to take its place...
Echo Del' Torre

Yeah, the synthroid is there to take its place. I remember my doctor said they generally overtreat them, higher dose or whatever, so I have to take a couple calcium pills as well everyday. I wonder what other effects that may have...

I drink alot of coffee, with a little sugar in it. Otherwise it's milk or water.
I eat once in 6 work hours. Usually eat before I go to work too, and when I get home (going to skip eating when I get home)

How do I calculate the metabolic rate? Also, I live at home, I can't know the amount of calories I eat when my mom/dad cooks.
And what's a food journal?

Step 1: Calculate your metabolic rate
Step 2: Create a food journal
Step 3: Make sure your calorie intake < MR
Step 4: Lose weight.
use google to find a calculator for your metabolic rate. to lose weight, you need to either eat several hundred less calories per day than your BMR or just burn more calories (more exercise) per day.
also, make sure you don't eat any BIG meals, but you want your body digesting throughout the day, so eat 5-6 small meals (i try to eat every 2.5 hours or so), but a "meal" could be anything as small as a granola bar. this will keep your metabolism going.
finally, drink lots and lots of water. your pee should be clear or close to it.
i'd also recommend cutting a few unhealthy things out of your diet. if you drink soda, i'd suggest cutting it out, and maybe a couple other things you know are really unhealthy. substitute those for things that you like that are somewhat less unhealthy. it has to be a gradual process b/c it can be hard going cold turkey, and it usually doesn't last. if you slowly cut things out, you'll get used to not eating/drinking them and that's the best way to improve your diet. i used to drink like 5 cokes a day and i never thought i could have stopped drinking them, but i cut them out and started drinking more juice instead, and now i haven't been drinking sodas for like 5 years and i don't even like them anymore.

and don't get discouraged by skinny fags that eat all the time and never gain weight. skinny != healthy. i've seen fat guys that can outrun skinny guys that eat shit and don't exercise at all and think they're still "in good shape." don't be fooled :ninja:
lift weights and when you start losing fat, your muscle will show, then those skinny ass fags will be jealous b/c they'll have a hell of a time trying to gain any muscle.

actually I can also eat as much unhealthy crap as I wanted and I do and I'm not black and I don't get fat, I don't play any sports or anything like that. Some days I only eat cookies and sit at my computer because I'm lazy.
But recently (even though I'm not fat) I started lifting and running in a gym and it's fun, that's what I recommend.
Run in a gym and start lifting, lifting is fun and you get strong and before you get strong out of it you lose your fat. It's really fun although I just go for 1 hour once every 2 weeks or something lol and I eat as much un-healthy food as I want. Walking is boring, running is better but lifting is fun. First run for half an hour and then start lifting, then when you get home eat healthy food like fish so your muscles grow. Do not not eat, cause then you will get something that I forgot what is called and you will think your fat all the time and you will get super skinny and unhealthy.
main reason some people get fat isn't because of genetics or how much they eat, says a Cornell University obesity researcher. It's because compared with thinner people they snack more often during the day and move about a lot less.
(i don't move a lot though, and I snack a lot, hmm strange)
And forget dietin; it just doesn't work," Levitsky says.
(now this is true, and also let yourself eat candy, it's un-healthy to NOT eat candy, it's true)
and forget that your supposed to eat that many calories a day and not more, fucking crappy cheescake scientist fucked up shitty crap brains.
so I suggest just not snack as much, but don't skip drinking coke if you like it, drink it at dinner but not with all food, and milk is really good, water is crap, damn crappy clear non-use liquid, but I heard your urine is supposed to be almost clear, if its really yellow or green your drinking too little water, duh I don't know much so go with that rule. And diet does not work, just excersice a little more and not snack as much.

MY advise .Eat once a day a normal meal and at the night eat yogurt or a fruit.
Thats if you do not have stomach proplems.
If you can handle the starving method they you will lose weight definitely.
Keep this schedule for 2 months and then you will get used to it.
Remember to drink lots of water and if you are extremely hungry eat fruits and drink water.
If you do not want or can't exercise then don't ,instead you can start walking more.
If you have a car or bike and wanna go to the cinema p.e. dont use them ,instead walk.

this is true. lean muscle mass requires more calories to maintain, so just by having more muscle, your body will be burning more calories.
definitely life weights. rotate muscle groups so you aren't using the same muscle groups every day. and after a few weeks you want to do different workouts so you're body doesn't get used to the same thing b/c you'll stop making gains.
if you've seen P90X, i think that's a good workout program, but it's pretty tough. i'd recommend it, and just do as much weight as you can that will get you through the workout. make sure to keep track of how much weight you're doing so you can make goals to do more weight/reps the next time. the ab workout is a killer too..

I do 3 hours of karate and 1 hour of grappling each week.
Since I can do that easy now, I am adding additional cardio and weight training. And in a week or two I'm going to start kickboxing.
If you train on pads/sparring with other people, martial arts is amazing for:
Weight loss

Flexibility

There have been tons of threads on this in the past.
Here is the kicker, you ready for it? Are you sure? Here is what you need to lose weight:
1) Tons of self control
2) Tons of patience
Most people think there is some magical weight loss solution. There's not. Just work on losing 1 lb a week or so. If you try to do more than that you will either fall off the wagon, or hurt yourself more than you help yourself.
As I have mentioned in every thread similar to this (and it has been mentioned already) is that often times its less important what you are eating, and more important what you are drinking. Drinks have tons of calories in them (especially sugary drinks). Drink water and diet drinks. No more beer, no more regular soda. That is where self control comes in.
Secondly, you said you need energy throughout the day. If you feel yourself lethargic, it is probably because of your bad diet and lack of exercise. Work out 1 hour every morning. 30 minutes cardio, 30 minutes toning. Your energy will actually increase during the day after about the first week of doing this consistently.
Also, about those people telling you to eat small meals throughout the day, I would strongly urge against that for two reasons. First, because its easier to lose track of how many calories you are ingesting if you spread out meals. Secondly, if you are anything like me (and have an extremely large apetite), a small meal will only wet your apetite and leave you craving more. Just east two healthy (and filling) meals a day.
Here is my last tip: STOP SNACKING. Americans are the worst snackers in the entire world. We eat constantly. At work, at the TV, sitting at ForumFall, just think of all the snacking we do on average.
These things I just told you about I started doing after I gained 50 lbs during college (from 135 to 185 at 6'1''). After doing what I just mentioned, I gained muscle and still lost weight down to 160 (so now I look better than ever). It took a good 6 months, however, and that is where patience comes in. Judge your success in long term results.

snacking is a good thing since it keeps your metabolism going, but that's assuming they're GOOD snacks. so chips, cookies, etc aren't good snack foods. you could try nuts, fruit, granola bars (not the ones covered in chocolate).
ideally, eating several small meals a day will work the best since you want your metabolism working constantly. HOWEVER, i can see it being difficult if it just makes you want to eat more. i'd TRY eating 5-6 smaller meals a day. yes, it's a little harder to count your calories, but it's not very hard. if you're in the same boat as this guy and you find that eating a small meal is just too hard, then go ahead an try doing what he said. do whatever is easiest for you.
another thing ultimo mentioned is working out in the morning. the best time to do cardio is after a long period of not eating, so right when you wake up would be best. that way, instead of just burning the energy you got from the food you just ate, your getting it from the energy stored in your body (fat). i think this is debated though, but it seemed to work better for me. either way, as ultimo said, if you get into a habit of doing this, you should feel less lethargic the rest of the day if you're working out in the morning.

Amputate a leg and you can drop 20kg, just like that.
Have kids. Sure, the first few years are just a cunt on your sleeping patterns, but once they start walking you'll be burning off those calories trying to chase those fuckers down when they run off with your keys, or they've gone really quiet and you think you hear the cupboard under the sink opening.
Get one of those sporty girlfriends. It can be tough, but if you're charming enough to bridge the weight gap, you'll find they're often concerned with your weight and force you to go jogging with them, even to the extent of withholding sex over it. Of course, this can have a reverse effect where your shitty lifestyle ruins thiers. Nothing worse then going out with a smoking hottie that turns into a porker within the year, am I right?
Loose your job. Once you're back to running after job interviews and can no longer afford your car, you're bound to shed some weight.
Develop an intense addiction to masturbation, and go at it hard. Work up a sweat and cramp up your arm. Wake up, have a tug. Going to bed, have a tug. I'm sure it burns off considerable calories, and payoff is decent. Just remember, alternate arms once in a while, or you'll look like a before AND after pic from those home gym infomercials when divided down the middle.
Get addicted to amphetamines. I have yet to meet a fat druggie. Maybe it's because of all the speed they take, or maybe it's because they spend thier grocery budget on drugs, but it works. Side effects can include jail time.
Go to a PETA meeting and ask for the 'Slaughterhouse Guilt Special'. After a couple of slide shows showing puppy dogs being slaughtered with baseball bats to make everything tasty, maybe you'll go vegan like those nazis want.
You'll be nibbling on limp carrots and ego tripping over it in no time.

If you have poor running stamina (which some people do even if they're not fat due to poor cardiovascular health), a 30-45 minute walk is much better than a 5 minute run.

this is true. lean muscle mass requires more calories to maintain, so just by having more muscle, your body will be burning more calories.

Ok. First of all you need to stop the long walks. Want real results? Do intervals. This makes your body burn fat ALL DAY, and not just when you're walking, like walking/jogging does.
Eat every 3 hours, make sure you get vegetable and 5 fruits a day. Always have fruit or vegetable with your meal. I think there is a "plate diet", where you have 1/4th meat, 1/4th carbs (rice, potato, pasta etc) and 2/4th veggies.
Ok, and then you also have to learn about GI (glycemic index), because you should avoid any high GI food.
So now you have that covered, you do a journal of what you eat. Write down the time you eat (every 3 hours) and what you eat. That way you can really see the progress.
This is very easy, lets say you eat 400g of rice for your dinner, next week you cut down to 300grams. Then in two weeks you cut down to 200grams but increase veggies. This way you will not get hungry, but you will definately see results.
You should aim for around 1 kg of weight drop a week, that's a pretty healthy amount to drop. During the beginning it'll happen quicker, but it'll even out depending on how much overweight you are.
So that's some of the workout and much of the eating. You should do weights, the basic exercises like deadlift and squats, and then stay clear of useless stuff like sitting one arm bicepscurl or shrugs.
What else? Drink water, don't overdo it, and drink nothing but water. You'll get used to it pretty quickly. If it gets boring, put some lime in it or something like that.

I've seen your pic, you are a fatto fatto indeed. Share your food with me and we'll solve two problems at once: you'll get fit and I wont be hungry anymore.
