This will take place at the end of the racial wars. This doesn't mean that the races don't hate each other but it means that the goverments of the countries of Agon don't send huge raiding armies at each other.
The beginning of this is really weird as it doesn't tell you much but i want to unravel all that when/if this gets going, or you can think of something yourself.
The racial wars have ended and the countries are finally at peace - all except Mercia. With the racial wars over, the Mercian army retires as there are no threats and there are enough of the kings own men to defend the king from inner threats. Unfortuately a mysterious dark army attack the castle and slay all the government officials with ease.
The leader who has no name takes over Mercia with his army of sorcerers without anyone in all of Mercia knowing, until he orders his men to tell the people that there is a new king. However when the people learn of this they begin to flee Mercia to go live elsewhere.
However when they reach the border of Mercia and Nagast they learn that the dark sorcerors have created a barrier so no one can leave Mercia, ever. They return to their homes and find their villages heavily guarded by knights.
The new king, who no one knows about sets some new rules.
- No weapons or armour on anyone that isn't a man of the new king
- Everyone must worship Malaut whether they are human or not
The also sets a new name for Mercia, calling it Aerilyan.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
After one year of the new kings arrival he is still as mysterious as he was when he took Mercia. Since the barrier has been formed around Aerilyan it has become isolated as no one can enter Mercia and no one can leave. If you came from Dverghiem for a trade in Mercia and got stuck inside you couldn't go back.
Most people follow the laws of the new king and don't give damn but some adventurers are curious about the their leader. Most of these adventurers are from different races and are trapped inside Aerilyan so they try to find out all they can.
Races
Humans are the most dominant race in Aerilyan. Most of them are farmers or shopkeepers.
Dwarves are also in the new land. Many came to Mercia to sell their weapons but lost all of them due to the new law. Many are beggers or in dungeons because they didn't follow the rules.
There are not a lot of Merdian elves in Aerilyan. They were either killed while trying to use their magic to get past the barrier or killed by the sorceror army.
When the king took over Mercia many Alfar rushed into Mercia. The humans think that it has something to do with the sudden change.
Very few Mahirim wonder around Aerilyan. But they are there and are often hunted by the army.
Orks came to Mercia just before the war ended and stayed because they were able to raid the camps at the east of Mercia but when the barrier was formed they headed to the center to kill the one responsible for making them trapped.

Sin wandered through the forest, not far from the old mine there was a cave, hidden from curious eyes of mankind. He walked next to the cave's mouth and knocked the wood twice, afterwards, he entered.
Into this tiny cave a rebellion of free-men, who decided not to submit into the willpower of the new king desperately gather their strength and allies to start their rebellion. The cave-system consists of three floors, one for watchpost & kitchen where the food rations are given. Second floor is for blacksmiths, armory, housing, arena and other misc. Lastly, in the bottom floor resides a fort crafted into solid rock, inside the fort resides the rebellion headquarters. Thats where Sin is heading...
Desperation, fear, sweat. They all knock on your senses inside the cavern, if found, such location would be a deathtrap.

Dezic chased the dear through the grass. He stopped on a hill took out the bow he had robbed in Mirendil and aimed at the dear. He was just about to the arrow fly but something distracted him and it messed up his aim. The arrow went towards a man in black armour with golden trimmings.
The arrow landed just a few yards away from him. Dezic recognized him immediately, he was a shade, one of the new king's men. Dezic called them shades because of their black armour and the way that they stalk someone they suspect.
The shade took a sword from his belt and ran at Dezic. Dezic had faced many shades in Aerilyan. He escaped poverty in Mirendil where he was a slave for the alfar that spied on the Mirdain for sometime until he escaped and came back home, but it wasn't the same. He forgot about his past and decided to live the rest of his life having fun.
So he travelled around Aerilyan causing trouble for the new men. However he had never fought with one and didn't plan to do it alone. He turned and ran with a hand on his dagger incase of emergency.

The moment Sin was about to enter the cave he heard the sound of heavy armor. He froze for a moment, knocked the wooden pillar once more and turned, silently he sprinted to the edge of the forest. From there he could see the edge, where he saw kingsman chasing a poor hunter. He decided to help the poor fellow and ran towards their position. Going few meters ahead from forests edge, he hid himself behind the tree, having his claymore ready. Dezic ran past the treee first. Second comes the kingsman, which gets caught by Sin's claymore. Sin thursted the claymore right into the running mans chest, causing a heavy found and making the kingsman fall on his back.
After a moment Sin noticed his claymore got stuck in the tree way too hard. He couldn't pull it out without doing some carving, which he didin't have time for.
"- Hunter! If you still have the bow with you, shoot the man through his chestwound.."
Sin took his shortsword and throwing axe, he circled around the man trying to get into a weakspot to finish the kingsman off, but the kingsman kept defending himself to the last breath, everytime kingsman tries to stand Sin manages to launch an heavy kick towards kingsmans head/neck/wound in the chest, making him fall down again.

Dezic turned and saw the shade on the floor. This one is for my me. Without thinking Dezic strung his bow walked towards the shade and released. The arrow went through the man's chest and he screamed in pain. Dezic was afraid that if someone heard him they might bring reinforcements so he kicked the shade in the head as hard as he could. Dezic didn't know if that killed him or just rendered him unconcious.
He looked at the man that had helped him. He knew that he had murdered the shade and that they would be all over him. For one he already broke the rule of no weapons, and now he was a murderer.
"Thank you for your help. We must hide his body somewhere before the others find it."

"Hide? No... We must show that we fear no one." After those words Sin took a rope, tied into a treebranch, the other end he circled around the Shade's neck and lifted him hanging in the tree. After that, he started the operation to remove his claymore from the tree.
While carving the wood, he turned towards Dezic with friendly smile on his face. "So, whats your story?"

Dezic watched Sin take the claymore out of the tree.
"I am from the old Mercia. I was tricked out of my house at age 18 when i was told that there was treasure in Mirendil. Istead of finding treasure i was captured by the alfar and stayed a prisoner for a long time. I don't know how long. Im not even sure of my age. I escaped when the alfar camp was being raided by Merdian troops.
Thats where i got my weapons from. I returned to Mercia but it was changed and after about a week the racial wars ended and i decided to stay here forever. But now i am forced to stay here forever, i might as well make it enjoyable. I have hid these weapons from the shade's for 12 months now.
Perhaps it is time to find out who has kept us here for this long.
How did you end up here?"
Dezic looked at the body of the soldier and his armour and had an idea.

It all went silent, only the mild breathing of Brandon and a few surviving companions could be heard along with the soft pulsing of magical energies irradiating from Brandon’s wand.
Hard footsteps stomp towards Brandon, Father John and two other survivors. The clanging on chain mail invokes fear; Brandon sweats profusely as the tall armoured man is now just a meter away. Looking directly at them but not seeing them; Brandon had previously conjured a mystical illusion turning air into solid wall to the naked eye. They all hold their breath creating a deadly silence in the air as the 'Shade' goes to place one hand on the imaginary wall; Brandon closes his eyes in anticipation of the events to come.
Luckily the 'Shade' was interrupted.
"Lets go soldier there's nothing left here, finish looting." The unseen man paused.
"Malut wants us at another Church by dawn; apparently they're putting up a fight over there."
Half and hour later, after the building was completely abandoned they all crept out to find that all the brother hood were slaughtered and many of the resistance put up here decapitated and spiked just outside to display danger.
"Father, are you ok?" Brandon inquired.
Grabbing a hold of himself the old man kneeled on the ground besides the altar and pulled out a chain of prayer beads. He muttered a few words before interrupted...
"We can't stay here, we must move whilst their forces are distracted." Said a young man wielding a shoddy steal sword.
They all looked towards each other, nodded and stepped outside into the open. With no idea where they would go Brandon began to lead them into the woodlands for shelter.

"Sin" they call me. Ex-SHADE, nowadays I'm working on the unsavoury side of business, good money these days. He pulled the claymore and attached it to his back with the decorated leather strings. The only real armor he had was that oversized left pauldron and cuirass made of black leather. For some reason he used a piece of cloth that was similiar to kilt on top of his pants. His clothing overall seemed dark, suitable for stealth missions. he pulled down his mask, revealing a childish looking face twisted on a grin. His white hair moved along the wind and you could mistake him from dead because of his pale skin.
"So, you're an convict eh? Sadly the old bounties are no longer avaible.. What if you would join me and the guys at the New Camp?"
He suddenly noticed Dezic had something in mind, his gaze was also attached to the shade.

"So you're an Ex-shade? I was just on my way to the center of Aerilyan, to the castle. I want to unmask the king before i do anymore damage. He must really be some, he burned all of the Auros's churches down and replaced them with Malaut churches. He was probably sent down by the Twilight empire to take Mercia so quickly.
Anyways, we should take his armour with us if i am to come with you. It could come in use if we are ever spying on the shades."
Dezic removed the helmet of the shade to reveal a face that barely looked human.

"Gotta say, not to the fullest potential, I have no idea what these demons have gained through worship of Malaut.. Follow me. New Camp isn't far away."
He peered into the skies for a while, sighing the smile dissappears from his face and without looking behind, he took the first steps towards the New Camp.

"Alright, i'll just strip him of his armour. The others will know he is a shade, they all have a mark on the left side of their neck. It is more like a symbol, i'm not sure what it means though."
Dezic looks at Sin. "Lets go." He follows Sin to the New Camp but he is suspiscious since Sin was a Shade, maybe he is still is one.

Nepheros was having a walk, around the forest, with his bow ready to hunt something. He was a Mirdain, a very tall one, with white hair and pointy ears. His eyes were green and had very simple clothes: white robes, a green cape and leather gloves, belt, boots and shoulder protections. He had a silver bow with silver arrows, that reflected the light at flying, so their enemies were blinded for some seconds, enough not to avoid the arrow.
But his most special features were two: the strange silver pendant and his personality. The pendant had the form of the moon, kinda like a "C". As for the personality, well, what to say? he was intelligent, agile, a bit pedant, though, and very generous. He was a "good common Mirdain" as he wanted to describe himself.
In this travel he was accompanied by his giant white tiger mount, called Brisa, and his black raven Kribbon.
And Nepheros is me.
I climbed a tree, quickly followed by Kribbon and Brisa, in order to watch the area and look for a rabbit, an owl, or something I could hunt, but instead I saw a corpse. I ran to the area where the corpse was located immediately, Brisa running behind me and Kribbon flying above the trees.
It was another one of those demons, the black armored inhuman guys. He had a wound, and it looked like a stab one. I caught a potion from my leather pouch, went back some steps and threw it. A small explosion, and the corpse started to burn. Those demons only left rot, dirt, rubbish and pollution behind, so it was better to burn their corpses down before they poisoned the animals that would devour them.
I started following the tracks left by his assassin, or his assassins, it looked like more than one, perhaps two or even three, and eventually the tracks seemed more fresh. I was about to catch them. I stopped for a minute and stood in silence, but I couldn't hear anything nearby, so I just continued to follow the tracks...

Dezic followed Sin to his camp. The black armour felt heavy on his shoulder. Soon they were at the entrance of a camp.
"Here we are.", said Sin.
"Let's go then."
They began to enter but Dezic heard footsteps behind him. He turned around and saw a man with two animals walking towards him.
"Looks like the shade isn't the only one we will be killing."

Rageon sniffs still, listening and smelling in the wind. Burned meat. Setting down on all four, he runs against the smell. Soon he rises, to see a burned inhuman corpse. Silently he howls, to show his anger. Wheres my HUMAN meat?!. Silently he notices footsteps, longer ahead. "That may be my..."

Sin sighs. Of all days it has to be this someone possibly witnessed the refuge's location, if this man noticed it, theres no possibility he could be allowed to leave this forest alive, unless he is here to join.
Sin places his hand on his claymore's hilt. He'd might be able to channel a spell that would struck by surprise while unsheathing his sword.
He whispers to Deznic. "Once I pull out this sword I'll strike some lightning towards them, then we'll run around the corner, theres the first ambush location, I'll stay there to hold him while you run to the first quarter to alert them. I have a bad feeling that character is a spy of Malaut."

Still following the tracks, the smell and the sounds, Rageon gets closer to the near meat. Hes nose reaches the air, and catches the smell of more than one. 2, 3, 4 or more. One human. Not sure about how many mirdains, their smell tend to confuse me. But the raven is clear! Not only fresh human, i get a bird with the meal aswell..Brilliant, pure brilliance.

Dezic nodded he watched the man walk closer to them. When he was close enough Dezic saw that it was a fairly tall Man. Infact he wasn't a man at all, he was an elf.
"Wait, stop! He can't be a spy of the king, he's a damn elf!"
Rageon
07-14-2008, 08:14 PM
Coming closer to the smell, the other smells increases aswell. Is this some kind of prey gathering? By Theia and Leen, i hope. The mahirim jumps to the side, into the shadows of some trees following the tracks down to two mirdains and a human in conversation. By Theia, is this coincidence?. Rageon silently listens in the shadows, carely hiding himself.

Eusi slowly and carefully wandered through the forrest. He had no real purpose being here other than to hide from his fleshy oppresors. Off to his left he noticed the tracks of another Mahirim.
His paranoia had also sharpened his senses to an almost annoying height. He quickly rushed out of the bush he was hiding in and charged onward following the tracks.
His once silky and bathed black fur was now matted down with patches missing. His previously royal and flowing tail now singed from flaming arrows and other assorted attacks. This land will never be safe for a Mahirim especially one of royalty.
He followed the tracks off to the side of the path, the shadows hiding him almost completely except for his pale yellow eyes, turned cold from the abuse he had suffered in this human kingdom. He was getting near the Mahirim now, and he heard conversation.
There up ahead was the Mahirim, evesdropping on a pair of mirdain and a lone human. His instincts attempted to take over and rush the three. Long ago he could have demolished all three in an instant. But he knew he was too brittle and weak to take them on alone now.
He approached the Mahirim carefully whispering, "Son of Theia I am here to help"

There they were. I ran to them, with my high elven stamina, then mounted on Brisa, with Kribbon following us. Brisa jumped above them and we stood between them and the cave entrance.

Nehemia stopped, he was clearly annoyed by the presence of the another mirdain. "If I were you, I'd stop asking stupid questions before same happens to the aerdin cat of yours." He tightened the grib on his sword, Turned around and placed his left hand on his chest to rest. It worked as perfect camoflaunge for spell channeling. He kept the sword on his right shoulder, its weight didin't seem to bother him that much.
He kept his eyes on the mirdain, he was almost certain the first watchpost had heard the yell at the cave mouth that had clearly echoed all the way to the first quarter. His right hand started to shake slightly, not in the fear of mirdain, but he had creeping feeling that something following them will take advantage of this situtation.

Eusi's plan was coming along just fine. He had created a trap using a nearby vine and a rock that would allow him to remotely spark the flint. Noticing the Mirdain leaning against a nearby tree, Eusi silently slipped towards him, holding the vine in one hand. He put his dagger to the Mirdain's throat carefully and swiftly. With a quick glance Sin notices the vine, he could guess the somewhat location of the trap. Its not that he was not scared, he knew same tricks won't apply to mahirim as they would to humans, humans are easy to scare, mahirim aren't. For first time in months, he feared for his life.

Scum. Worthless heretic scum! Haarahld thinks. He pounds through the forest, his full-body platemail dashing any attempt at stealth.
One of the Shades under his command found the body. It was interesting that the armor was removed, the shade said. Haarahld knew that this was in fact intersting. But it was also dangerous. anyone could attempt to sneak among the shades. Haarahld reacted by personally taking a group of shades into the forest to hunt these murderers down. He could count at least 6 different sets of tracks, each individually well-concealed. but when that many people are moving in the same spot, it is impossible to hide.
This is going to be satifying. VERY satisfying... Haarahld thinks. He unsheaths his axe and holds it fondly.
((Perfect timing! :D
I wanted to make a shade, but I wasn't sure when to join. Now I will.))
Name: Haarahld
Classification: Shade Commander
Bio: Not much is known. He arrived with the shield and the other shades. He
was instantly a regional commander of shade troops.
Looks: Like any other shade, he is tall and very intimidating. His armor is more elaborate then the rank-and-file shades (Like gurinthedark's sig, but darker). He has a large, hideously serrated battleaxe (the kind with two axe heads).
Skills: Talented user of his axe. Functions as an anti-paladin, wielding dark spells alongside his melee abilties. He prefers to use magic to bolster himslef and his troops over offensive spells. He is not above hurling a few darkbolts though. I well-versed in squad and army-group tactics.

"Ah, some shades. Thats just my chance to get more fed than iam used to in this cursed land. Even more fed than back in The Tribelands. Shade meat tastes good, it just needs a little of some warm, not burning it, just a little warm, and then its great. Only for Mahirims tho, iam limiting my prey to others as the cause of less prey. But now we are having a feast, why not share?! No, By Theia, And Leen, its mine, The Mahirims and the ghost moons feast, not some mirdain or human scums. Now, Shades, come on and let me have more meat and blood!" Rageon yells, howls, and jumps off the mirdain and runs up where the sound is coming from. "Much meat" he says, and lowers his nose.

I jump off Brisa, my tiger, and then put an arrow on my bow's string. I aim on the mahirim's way, and then I release my arrow. The arrow goes in the direction, without touching the Marhirim, because he was nto exactly the one I was aiming, and finally hits a shade.
"I was about to offer my help to you. But you are all working as if I was suspicious or something, only beucase I was following your tracks. It is good to be cautious, but diplomacy is even better, don't be so rude!"
Then I put another arrow on my bowstring and shoot. This time I aimed properly and shot the same shade, but this time inside the helm, instead of shooting to his armor.

Dezic picks up his bow and arrow and see's more shades charging at them aiming at the one with the large hammer who looks like the leader. He shoots but the arrow is intercepted by another shade who falls to the ground with the arrow in his neck. It was obvious who was the leader now.
Dezic grabbed another arrow and aimed for the shade commander leader again.

"About time." Sin grins, he grabs his claymore, it bites the dirt as he lifts it up, suddenly changing direction he flanks towards the shades, suddenly he raises his claymore and leans it on his shoulder, it seems its not his intention to attack them, at least just yet. "Commander Haarahld, Sin of the Sixth Company reporting in!" Sixth company was known as the bad company, members of the Sixth had their reputation of not really taking the orders literally, they had their own ways of doing things and did not really give a Melek's balls about the threats of their officers. The members of Sixth don't really worship Malaut as the other shades do, being more of denying existance of Gods, thus gaining disrespect in the new kingdom. Sin rushes to the Shades before the others, breathing heavily, he kneels before the commander of the group. "The two aren't dangerous, they'd make worthy slaves, its the mahirim we need to get rid of first. Incapacitate the two, kill the rest. I have failed to find the rebel camp, but I have heard rumors its to the west."

Eusi grinned and backed away from the Mirdain. "You're trickery wont go unpunished friend," he said as he backed into the shadows. Then a CLICK resonated through the forrest, followed by the smell of smoke. Then ominous flames sprung up the tree, quickly spreading to the others. Chaos ensued. "Now my brother!" Eusi barked to his newfound companion. Eusi then grabbed a large tree limb, still holding his dagger in the other paw. His eyes grew bright, flames dancing in the background, the smoke partially hid him making him look larger and almost floating. He started forward towards the humanoids.

Haarahld sees a gaggle of races in a clearing. It is obvious that they are fighting each other. Haarahld smiles behind his visor. "Wipe them out!" he yells. The shades all draw their weapons as a single arrow hits one of his soldiers in the chest. The soldier laughs as a second arrow hits him in the eye. He screams and goes down. Then the battle is joined. The shades charge as one, weapons raised.
Another arrow arcs right at Haarahld. A shade leaps in front of Haarahld and is hit by it. Haarahld turns around to a small cluster of lightly-armored shades. "Kill the archer!" The shades all draw sinister-looking crossbows and begin to fire on the other archer. Haarahld chants as he charges. It is an agility-modifier. a greater speed negates the obvious issue with full platemail. All the shades seem to have a spring in their step.
A large number of people erupt from what looks like an old mine. They wield an assortment of weapons and armor. One armed with an old-looking hatchet leaps at Haarahld. He calmly swings his massive axe in an upward swing, starting from his right side. It travels diagonally, easily cutting the leather that the man wears. The man is literally cut in two, form his armpit to his neck on the opposite side. A second man stabs with a shortsword at Haarahld's head. Haarhald leans to the side and takes his right hand off of his axe. He grabs the man's head, his whole face in his massive grip, and turns. The man is lifted off of the ground as Haarahld slams the poor freedom fighter into a tree. A wet crunch is heard. Then the body falls to the ground.
One of the men actually walks up to Haarhald. He is seconds from cleaving the man's head open when he proclaims his name and company. Haarahld takes the time to curb-stomp one of his foes before responding. He turns to one of his bodyguards; they are even larger than regular shades, and they wield huge tower-shields and spiked warhammers.
"Kill him" is all he says as he turns back into the melee, his eyes gleaming with an unnatural light as dark energy courses through his veins. All four guards step forwards and charge. Their shields are covered with large barbed spikes, perfect for impaling anyone who tries to charge them. Haarhald thinks it is peculiar to have a shade both be in the presence of rebels AND be without his armor. If the man was in a spy role, then Haarahld would have been the one to allow him to commit the mission. Since Haarahld has no memory of allow this Sin man to spy on potential rebels, Haarhald knows he is a deserter.
Haarhald sees that the battle is going well. The freedom fighters never really had a chance. Fully armored and trained soldiers, each over 6 feet tall, versus a group of hungry rag-tag fighters. Stealth is their best defense. The fire could be a problem though. Smoke is beginning to obscure the battle.
Haarhald sees one of the wolf-people charge from the smoke. A fire is in the thing's eyes, and it wield a branch and a dagger. Haarhald ambles over towards his next victim, axe drawn.
((A few things. Sin, I suggest you run!
Wow, this is a lot of trouble for one poor little shade like mehself. Looks like I'm going to have to break some heads :D! btw, I wield a big serrated battleaxe, not a warhammer
More importantly, shouldn't we all start running? Fire is bad.))

Eusi smiles at his approaching combatant. He hurls the branch thirty yards into a shades chest. The shade falls back with the branch on him, but it is too heavy to remove, he is then trampled by his own allies. Eusi pulls a second dagger from a pouch on his chest slightly resembling a bandolier. He then charges to meet his target, daggers raised and head high.

Dezic's heart drops when he learns of Sin's treachery.
"So your also one of the demon's?"
He knew that shade's weren't human but were actually demons but Sin looked like a typical Merdain elf. He saw the rebels come out of the cave to fight the Shade.
He had to make a decision. Either aid the rebels to try to fight off the shade or escape while he still has a chance. If this was his old Mercia he would've aided the rebels, but this wasn't Mercia and rebels were punished severly.
He looked at the other Merdain that shot down the shade. He knew he was thinking of running too.
"Lets run while we can. Looks like we are the only one's that can make it out alive. The Mahirim think differently and would be honoured to die in combat since they are good at nothing else. But we can escape with our lives if you follow me."

"I only hope you don't want to eat ME, Mahirim, because then you'll be upset when I flee, you are right, human, we have to go." I said, while shooting a couple of arrows at the shades. Then I mounted Brisa and made him start running. Kribbon had dissappeared when the battle started, for its own protection, so I caught my whistle off my pouch and played it, so Kribbon would stop eating grain or nuts, or whatever else he was doing, and came with me. Then I saw the human was having problems at trying to escape. The shades were not to let him do it, so I came back. Brisa jumped on one of them and bited his neck while I shot an arrow at another one's nose. Then I offered my hand to the human and said "Come on, mount, it's the only way to escape."

((Blackdawg, how could a branch be thrown thirty yards but still be too heavy to be moved? Shades are demons, they have dark magic strengthining them. How could the stronger foe, I admit your charcater is much more agile then a shade, be trapped by something thrown by the weaker one? Just the fact that the person is weaker would mean that the item being thrown would be lighter than if the stronger one could throw something. The stonger would have more strength to use. A branch thrown at a shade and knocking him on his back, helmet dented, good. A branch being thrown that is too heavy to be even lifted in the first place, bad. :( rwar! rant over! back to story))
Haarahld continues to walk towards the mahirim as another one leaps at on of his bodyguards. The man was unable to shield his face with his shield. If he had, the mahirim would have impaled himself on the man's shield. The mahirim then pounded the man's face with it's fists. Haarhald took his axe and swung at the mahirim. He hit the wolf-man with the flat of his axe heads. The mahirim was literally slapped off of the shade, instead of cut apart. A cut could have easily sliced the shade as well as the mahirim. A second shade raised his claymore over his head in an overhead slash at the mahirim on the ground. Haarahld turned back to the battle ahead and continued to hack at the rebels, making his way towards that other mahirim.

Brisa started running with both of us. Kribbon had heard my whistle notes and was coming. Soon we could see him flying around us, and guiding us, showing the right way to Brisa in order to avoid any unnecessary problems.
We reached the borders of the forest quickly, unharmed, there I ordered Brisa to stop. In front of us, there were only barrens, plenty of grass and almost no trees. I started talking with the human stranger.
"By the way, my name is Bastian. I am one of the woodkeepers of this forest, I am not any convict, but these shades care nothing about the grove, so it is my duty to expell them all from here... nevertheless, it seems we woodkeepers can't do it alone. Dezic could see smoke in the distance. It seemed far but was actually just a few minutes away from them.

And then I picked up an arrow and put it on my bowstring, preparing to aim at any enemy. Caution is the best defense.
I ordered Kribbon to watch upon the glade where the smoke was coming from, using a specific combination of whistles. Kribbon flew there and came back in two minutes. He stood in a branch and scratched under his left wing using his beak. That meant that there were no troubles at all. The people in that... camp... were atleast friendly, although that didn't mean that they would be receptive or that they were gonna aid us. There were no garantees, except for we were sure they weren't going to kill us.
"Kribbon has spied and found they might be allies. But it's only a possibility, we'll have to use the best of our diplomatic skills from now on I think... I hope it's not so hard. Let's go."

Haarahld is stunned by the speed and ferocity of the mahirim. For a few seconds, he is unable to do any more than defend himself. His axe is knocked out of his hands after a massive blow. He then regains his footing and attacks the wolf-man. He suddenly tackles the mahirim. Before either of them fall over, he grabs the mahirim by its shoulder and one of its thighs and picks the poor creature over his head. The mahirim snarls and stabs Haarhald viciously in his arms and his upper body. Bloods drains from many stab wounds that piece the vulnerable joints in Haarahld's plate armor. He ignores these pains, and hurls the mahirim at a nearby tree... which happens to be engulfed in flames. Right before impact, the mahirim is horizontal in the air, perpendicular to the tree's trunk.
Without missing a beat, Haarhald scoops up his axe and turns to the remaining shades. "Retreat! Retreat! We will simply have to kill them another day!" It stepped towards him and simply said, "Your only alive for an exchange, don't cause us anymore trouble and you will live. Then Dezic recognized it, it was a limpering Mahirim, the same one in the forest.
"He was probably captured by the shade."

I had no answer."He was about to die anyway... but I'd have liked him to answer."I mounted Brisa and offered Dezic to mount with me too. Brisa was large but not enough for three people, so someone should go running or walking.

Haarahld dismounts from his warhourse to examine the shade corpse. The scene of the slave transfer is chaos. He notices the emblem on the shades shoulder. His eyes widen as he realizes that these shades are from antoher region. A slave transfer is considered an economic event. It falls under Haarahld's juristicion. Haarhald should have authorized this. He didn't. These shades are under the control of the general to the east: Vaanray. That would exlpain why the shades were devestated so much here. Vaanray rarely drilled his soldiers, and they wore lighter armor then Haarahld' walking tanks. Haarahld shook his head and turned to his shades. "We move to camp!" Most of the shades had already exaimined corpses of thier own, rumors would spread faster than any decree. Haarahld thought about the caravaan on the way to his camp.
The required action was simple: Vaanray's got some 'splanin' to do!!
((I Love Lucy refrence btw :D))

"No we won't have to walk we have drakes."
Dezic reacged into the caravan and grabbed the bag inside. He put all the alfar things inside the bag and brought it with him.
"Perhaps we should stay off the road. Many shades probably patrol here. Lets head into the next forest and rest for the day."

Falief rifled through the treasures that the alfar had brought to trade him for. He knew he was valuable, but not by this much. He lazily looked in a pile of gold and rubies. Something caught his eyes, a shimmer of emerald among the rubies and gold. He dug into the pile and pulled out a magnificent longsword. He spun it in the air a few times then hooked it onto his belt along with his handles, Anniet loves longswords, she will love this one thought Falief smiling. "Hey" he shouted towards Dezic, "Where are we headed?"

Haarahld mounts his massive steed alongside a squadren of the shield-wielding shades. They all leave the camp and had east, towards Vaanray's domain.
((The internal politics is a nice touch, no?))

"We were headed north. There are not many shade patrolling up there. But it seems we have another problem. A whole clan of alfar that call themselves the Order of the Shadow have allied with the shade."
Dezic picked up the bags full of runes and mounted his drake again.
"Lets go!'
