Ran by this recently so I thought bring it up.

Good stuff. I can't help but be distracted with the ticker. 71 oil, gold 659, Euro running at 1.36. Much less the bank stocks that have all but sunk. What a difference 12 months makes.

Poor peter. No one wants to listen while the gravy train rolls through.

Its the same shit as today, Peter Schiff is on warning people and they call him crazy, laugh at him and ignore him.(sounds like a doctor i know)

Wish i had the money to invest in oil back then, $71!

How about investing when Bush first took office? It's now up over 400% since then.

Gas was at $1.55 a gallon.

Wouldn't that of been nice :)

Yeah, if only I had the economic sense of Dick Cheney. He really understands supply and demand so much better than I do. Take that whole Enron thing, he had it pegged!

What’s scary is that right now we only laugh about it. Even $5 a gallon gas is still something of a luxury.

What happens when we realize that we really cannot pay the going rates anymore? When our 'money' is not going to be accepted by our enemies because they would rather laugh in the street about ruining our economy by killing our one drug they can supply.

If I was the world I would start pushing hard to get the US back into a better place before the damage becomes something more than we can rebound on. Otherwise they better start upping that military spending by at least 200%. They have a long fucking way to go to be a viable threat should they decide to stand against a new colonial superpower. Military powr does not just disolve because the dollar tanked.

/Yea I am a bit paranoid.

Really...you think this country is ready for a draft? We'd rather give back Texas to Mexico than have a draft. The soccer mom's and chicken hawk nascar dad's would turn on a dime in their political thinking if suddenly they had to pay for war themselves.

This country is in big trouble.

For me, this sums up the climax of our independence from reality over the last 8 years.

I should point out that last week is the FIRST week that the Pentagon hasn't released any casualties lost in Iraq in the history of the war. Of course, 9 soldiers were killed in Afghanistan last week, so I suppose it's all relative.

Short term yes. Long term check with the USSR collapse to see how it went for them. Went from possibly the scariest force on earth to a mismanaged corrupt sold off rust collecting crapshoot. They're only now recovering.

heh well, it's like everything when people are blinded by certain ideologies, they fail to take things into perspective, though Peter could have said some of the things a lot nicer. In any event, when it comes to markets, CNBC (in addition to be conservative... so much for NBC being so 'liberal') is nothing but E!... kind of a distraction where you're sure to hear a good bit a bullshit often, stories to entertain people, and enough ratings to make $$$.

Actually, I saw a thing on the USSR, and it mentioned their military. Sure, during WWII they were pretty damn powerful, but during the cold war, America absolutely fucking out powered them. It was only due to the fear that they had a huge army that they survived that long.

it was cause they were spending way to much money in that area when the couldnt afford it. We could (at the time).
