I choose Theodore Roosevelt.

Aside from being an all-around true American, he had a great handle on foreign policy, he was extremely eloquent and intelligent, he was a hunter, an environmentalist, a war hero etc.

He also had a very balanced policy when dealing with corporate America, and the general masses.

I believe he would be able to solve a lot of our foreign relations issues. By pulling out of many, and standing up to NATO and the UN. He would balance out the needs of a widening wealth gap, but not simply by ass-raping the wealthy and corporations (ala Obama).

Finally, I believe he would bring back a good deal of respect to America.

Since we're not in a situation that is at all comparable to the Great Depression, I think he'd say, "what the hell? Why is this still here? Truman, what happened?" and then proceed to get rid of it.

Yes, I would love to see the US have a smaller military budget, a smaller military (backed up with militia) and a stop to the policing of the world.

The US has the advantage of being geographically impossible to invade by any country but the US because none of them can currently force project in massive numbers. So, fuck shit like NATO and the UN because the only thing it has brought the US is a lost of money and wasted effort.
