Hey, I have some free time for a few weeks and was wondering if I should resubscribe to SWG for a month. Is it still laggy and bugged or has it improved somewhat? Yes I know it's not a great game but it was my first MMO nevertheless. :P

I dunno about the real SWG, I heard it's in major troubles, however there is a SWG Emu. I don't even think it's illegal either because they haven't been shut down, the real SWG devs know about it, and you need a legit SWG key in order to play (even though it is free.) I'm not sure how it could be legal, but it seems like it is.
Granted, it's an emu that's being built and their latest achievement was when players enter an indoor room everyone can now see everyone walking around in the location they're actually in -- before all the player models just stood at the door. Last I checked they're currently working on getting armor in the game.

I don't know when you started playing it, but if it was before like late 2005 then don't bother, the game completely changed in a bad way and with the exception of two or three servers the population is nonexistent. (People have gone around doing a search during prime time and have found some servers in the single digits)
The emu is decently far along, combat is fully in and such, but there isn't really much to do. You don't require a CD key to play but they look down upon people who download the trial account to play it because it's technically illegal.

Alright, I should probably forget about playing it then. Just out of curiosity about the EMU though:
1) It it stable?
2) Where is the server located?
3) How many people play it?
4) Did they put JTL on it as well?
5) Is it the original SWG?
Thanks in advance.

1) Decently stable but they might bring down the official server without warning. There's actually more than one server. Game itself is pretty stable, didn't play too much but I never crashed.
2) More than one server + I have no idea.
3) Since it isn't really done you'll probably see like 20 people chilling at Anchorhead (only Tatooine is open because they want to focus testing or something)
4) No
5) Yes

in the emu currently there is nothing to do you become master anything with the click of a button I believe they're testing some things right now before making it similar to the original

I bought the game and then stoped shortly after a few quests on the main planet. Its really lame.

I heard about this...a couple people I know when I played SWG way back when started playing this. It's supposed to be based on how SWG was before they tried to make it like WoW, right? SWG was truly fun for a while, until SOE decided to turn it into everything else. It was very unique, somewhat free, and solo friendly which I liked, but they killed it for me =( Adding Jedi's in the game was the beginning of the end for me.
Granted the quests are dumb, and it's mostly just a grind fest (when I played), but it was fun to be able to just drop skills and start fresh without having to start a completely new character.

Crafting (just the generic crafting tool and the surveying tools) is in. They're getting ready to put in most of the artisan crafting, then they're going to go on to architect crafting.
Lairs will be put in as soon as they figure out how to make them unspawn on death.
Missions are currently being tested.
PvP is in, but Jedi are not.

UPDATE:
I tried out the SWGEmu test server. It seems like they have one waypoint up for getting loot(Stronghold at Corellia) but mainly people chill out or PvP. It's not actually a game yet, but it's pretty cool. The advantage I see to the Emu is that since it's players who are developing it, maybe they'll actually add content to the game. :P

Do not fall into that trap. After the first CU, it was just JTL that I kept playing for. I enjoyed it, my ground professionw as just shipsmith.
Then the new CU came out....
Ow. God that hurt.
Never look back. Though the Emu shows promise, tell me when it gets JTL :P

Please don't discuss emulated mmo's here.
