New Runescape graphics

Runescape are making a graphics update, just wanted to see what you guys think.

I agree, Even with a "Graphics Update", Its still shitty Runescape.

RS is actualy a good time waster shure its a grind fest but atleast its some thing to do. im not so high maitinence that i need an epic game like DFO to stay entertained for a month or so. besides its not so boring whe you so tired you automaticaly dont pay atention and can perty much only do repetitive things.

I have a rather high level account on RS, I quit a bit before they trashed pk'ing. I can't imagine the game has anything to offer anymore now that it doesn't even have the Wilderness, it's only saving grace.

Aside from that, even if they upgrade the graphics, they are merely upgrading from 1998 era graphics to 2001 graphics... big whoop.

It does seem like Runescape is starting to become a little more 'carebear' for my liking. They even have different kinds of servers now.

Still,Runescape is still a good F2P time-waster. It even does some things right that bigger titles still can't be arsed implementing.

On occasion yes. When AoC isn't tempting me with it's level-based over-hyped crappy PvP grind.

As I said,it does some things right that I like about it. I like the skill-based advancement system.
I like how open-ended the game is to some degree. (well,you have to be a member to gain complete freedom,but even playing for free it's quite open-ended)
And it has,although limited to a big area,95% full loot PvP.

And I can overlook the crappy graphics/combat animation quite easily,because I prefer performance over graphics anyday.

I certainly don't see big-budget MMORPG's offering such things,except for Darkfall. :D (it will offer more of course)

I don't play that often though,and I'm currently spending most of my time smith grinding through the full steel levels. It's a pain tbh,but it does feel rewarding when you get past a level and become able to craft your own stuff in steel and so forth.

I know the mining/smithing only gets worse as you progress. I just intend to get through the steel levels and then do whatever from there.

No way will I be in the highscores,I only recently re-logged into the Mahirim character and found out it had been 120+ days since the last login time. They sure keep your characters held over there.

lol thats largely the case with FFXI, except they actually do come back.....but everyone does it at different times so its kinda hard to get a tight knit group going.

The new graphics are aparently just adding more colour to make it harder for boters etc. I havent seen them first hand though. I stopped playing a while back but ive been hearing its getting even worse. Seriously its so dam boring its more like work then a fun game.

That would be news to me,since I haven't been around that end for a while.

It's gone, sadly. The wilderness, the open loot full PvP is gone, last I checked. They still have some form of it out there... it's like some kind of 'Bounty Hunter' mini-game, I'm not sure if there is full loot in the game or not, I haven't played it recently enough to find out. Also, they added in some kind of big Clan vs Clan mini game. It kind of sucks ass though because there is no loot in it either. It stops clans from crashing the wars (that also kind of sucks imo), but it takes out the loot completely so everyone just wears the best shit they can without worry.

There were several things that made RS a good game, something other games didn't really have:
- Full Loot PvP, with room for giant clan battles and no lag (thanks sucky graphics)

- No Class System, I liked that a Mage could also use Range and a Sword just as easy and take advantage of all the games crafting features.

- Open free market, it was just fun to have such freedom in the economy that was largely player based. It also gave the game a bit of character, sitting around in a city and just chillin' was still kind of fun.

But now, they have eliminated the Full loot PvP, taken out the free market and reduced it too a really shitty global bank selling market with fixed prices, and if they care enough to WoW'itize it anymore I'm sure they will find a way to fuck that up to. Also, Dueling was fun until they nuked it.
