Any jobs that can transfer fairly well over to Europe? We're talking about decent-paying ones and we'd prefer ones that can get you some pussy. (EX: Firefighter, Doctor, Pornstar)

While you American idiots laugh and stroke your miniature private parts while driving your SUVs on 5$/gallon gas, the OP actually makes a very VERY VERY valid point. I'm so fucking glad I have a duel American and European citizenships. You fucks wait and enjoy riding bicycles on freeways on the way to your jobs and wiping your asses with valueless dollars while wonder what the fuck happened to my social security money while I live a normal life in Europe.

Funny, it seems the only thing to be increasing here in Long Island is the number of multi-million dollar homes being built.
You should probably leave America if you are too lazy to work hard and get a good education so you can succeed (Obama supporters). But if you know that hard-work and good planning/fiscal responsibility is the key to the American dream, there is nothing you can't have in this fine country.
In fact, I would love if we had some sort of "Back to Europe" program that would send all of the lazy lower-middle class whites back over the Atlantic.
Maybe once we take out the trash the United States can go back to being wtfpwnface awesome.

Y'know, it's funny. My family is upper class, started lower class, contributes to society greatly, and worked their ass off to get where we are today, and we support Obama. Honestly, most of the lazy lower-middle class I've seen don't even really have an opinion in politics at all. Then, there's all the Rednecks who vote republican. Most democrats I know (save the college kids), are all hardworking members of society.
Seriously, just because you don't like someone's political ideals, doesn't mean you should assume that they're less of a person, or less of a hardworking citizen.

Working hard in America usually computes to spending your entire life working. By the time you reach the autumn years of your life, you had better hope all you wanted out of life is to work until retirement. Otherwise you're probably going to die unhappy, that would suck.
If you simply be successful at being happy with what life gives you, then you'll do alright.

Hmm but you see your being far too clever for me. To me it seems like you have become irritated by my manner and are pointing out where am wrong. Which if am not mistaken is what you had a problem with what am doing.
I would form an a counter argument if i believed this thread to merit one but with no one actually putting forward something i deem merits one (yes this is a case of elitism or just shear laziness ill let you decided, you will form your own opinion anyway) or with most of the arguments already being made and me not feeling either the particular need to rewrite someone else's argument to try and gain credit for.
If i belong to the dredges of Forumfall then am afraid so do you.
Don't you live in your parent's garage? You speak as though you have developed your own wealth. Mooching off parents is as bad as not taking steps to succeed. No offense, of course, I agree with your post.
I was paying $1750 a month for rent in NYC. I got promoted, and the job was out on Long Island. Being able to put an extra $1750 a month into savings is fairly substantial. So instead of going into an apartment, I decided to move back home.
I could buy a decent house now, but I need at least a million dollars for a really nice home on Long Island. And I would rather wait for a big house, than get something smaller and try to sell it later on.
Even so, mooching off your parents is very American, as long as it is part of you bettering yourself. I always looked at the "American Dream" as being happy, and giving your children what they need to be happy. I would much rather have someone stay a few extra years with their parents than go on some government sponsored welfare.
A lot of the problems we have now is that people don't do the whole "I should work hard so my children can have a good life" kinda of thinking. Instead, they only think about having everything that other people have.
So a lot of Americans now go, "Hey! He has health insurance, why can't I?!", instead of going, "Hey! I wan't to work hard so my children, or my children's children can have healthcare".
Edit: Also, I took out my own loans for college. Pay my own bills and such. So I would say that I developed my own "wealth".

I admit that I did exactly what you did. Reminds me of a Seinfeld joke. "The only thing I complain about is other people complaining." Or something along those lines. But I believe my posts were valid. I explained why I thought you were wrong, something you have not been able to do.
However, you're really good at using other people's inability to argue well as a reason why you're not offering arguments. That seems silly to me, but maybe it's because I'm a stoopid 'merican.
Also you keep trying to compare me to you. It's like you're an ashamed smoker and you want me to start smoking so you'll feel a little better. Is that an English thing that simply does not translate to my American sensibilities? Or do you simply not have anything else to say except, "Well if I am, then so are you."?

well its a matter of belief for some doing what makes them happy and work go hand in hand and is something that requires there time to reap the rewards but doesn't amount to back breaking labour. I think the concept of just working hard in america = success comes from the idea of the American dream and the Utopian vision of the American state. But i think it boils down to a matter of belief you can be happy with what you do and where you are in your life under most circumstances.

To the core of the argument. Yes i do seem to pick out the problems with other peoples arguments and use them as may defense for putting forward my own. In fact i do it consciously when i don't think there is anything i can put forward to the argument. However it doesn't mean i don't wont them to elaborate because i do i really want them to explain there argument so i can better understand it. I don't think your a silly American you obviously not am not just trying to flatter your ego but am acknowledging your point and not just ignoring it. I have said these things like "so are you "for the satisfaction of showing that you are doing exactly the same as me, quite childish but i wanted to make the point. It got nothing to do with the "English thing" neither am i ashamed of making such remarks but it was a fair reading none the less you made.

I disagree. Children should never mooch off their parents, and parents should not give their children shit. You know why? Because every rich spoiled kid I've ever known has grown up to contribute nothing to society. They know how to act elite, and that's about it. In fact, the reason I have worked so hard to get a great education (and thus, a great life) is because I grew up in a poor household and had a great character overhaul my first 20 years.
As I say to people, the first 20 years decides how you will be for the rest of your life. If you are a rich spoiled kid, you will be a childish spoiled adult your whole life (besides a few radical exceptions).
So even though I will be rich someday, will I give my kids more than I was given? No. They can earn shit themselves. They can go out and get a full time job at 13 like I did if they want money.

Actually in most sectors europeans get payed a bigger brute wage. But because of the obvious higher taxes the netto wage is lower than in america.
In the medical sector however everyone gets payed a lesser brute wage in europe compared to the usa so the netto wage has an even bigger difference.

Come on uncalled for. He has a fair argument we do live in societies where the majority of people want instant gratification they want to be able to live the hedonistic lifestyles we see in the media, but also want the stable secure lives that harding work offers. Some have a problem with others being born into wealth growing up in working class family in a poor area of Liverpool i had these problems to. I don't see society as offering equality as a starting point which it should but as offering equality as the end point. But as i have grown older i have realized that people who have worked hard all there lives should be allowed to leave money to there children send them to private schools etc.( drawing on stereotypes i know don't crucify me) They have worked hard for it so why shouldn't they and there children enjoy the benefits that they are entitled to.( basics of social contract theory to lazy to get notes but am thinking Locke said it we are entitled to equal reward for labour) What angers me and should anger you is where people don't utilize the opportunities they have been given and then complain that others have.

Well, normally I would agree. I only know I will be rich because I am getting an education in a market that is in dire need of specialized education. Currently I am in a program called Design Studio, which gets me direct work with big wigs from IBM, Microsoft, etc. That requires 20 hours a week. I work an internship also making workflow and document management software which big names use (such as Ty, Upper Deck, etc). That is another 20-40 hours a week during the school year. This is all on top of 18 credit hours a semester (if you know of the way our colleges work in America that will make sense).
Sure, all of that is a ton of work, but it will pay off when I graduate next year (I am already getting offers from companies to make 6 digits out of college, Design Studio really helped with that).
So yes, hard work does not mean you will be rich, however a very well planned out crap ton of hard work does mean that.

Could I have gotten apartment? Sure. But why would I waste that money when my parents have the room? I would call my decision to be fiscally responsible, rather than lazy. If anything it would be much easier to live on my own.
However, if I wish to own a home soon, I need to trade comfort and ease with the option that allows me to save the most money. I guess Europeans don't understand the concept of family helping family, but once you can see the value in improving your families position in life, your family will do much better in life. But seeing as native Europeans are being out-bred by immigrants, I guess you don't place the same importance on maintaining your family.
Also, there is a big fucking difference between helping family, and spoiling them. Anyone who thinks that accepting help from your relatives show weakness is a fucking idiot. If anyone should be helping you, it is your family.
And I don't treat janitors poorly, however I will tell a janitor to fuck off if he complains about his job and says how he should be able to own a home just because he works full-time.

Time for an American to disagree with the American work ethic. We've become consumed by it. Our jobs have become our lives. Americans on average are selfish and greedy. At least the euro's have their priorities straight.
Don't disrespect the family unit. It's the first thing America lost, and the reason for it's decline.

It depends on where you are. I remember watching a news report once. In one large city they would drop some money, and the people would not tell the guy he dropped money, and in some cases more than one person would wrestle for it.
In a small town, they did it 20 times in different locations and every time someone said "Hey sir, you dropped some money."

Seriously matriel do you live in the U.K. i have serious questions over your idea of lower standards of living for successful people, truly i do.
I don't have to and I definitely wouldn't want to. If you compare taxation rates, I would pay much higher taxes for the same salary in the UK. It would not cover the difference for health care either as I have cheap health care here.
Meanwhile, cost of living in the UK is much higher than Kentucky.
So, as I said, someone in my position (successful) is more successful in America as you can keep more of the fruits of your labour and in most places it is cheaper to live. Unless you're seriously trying to suggest that having more money and less bills is somehow a bad thing.

It depends on where you are. I remember watching a news report once. In one large city they would drop some money, and the people would not tell the guy he dropped money, and in some cases more than one person would wrestle for it.
In a small town, they did it 20 times in different locations and every time someone said "Hey sir, you dropped some money."
I lump consumption in with greed, and americans are disgusting consumers IMO. Including me.
Maybe in the fucking ghetto. I've seen this enough times with my own eyes, even here in NYC, and people here are constantly helping people. I've also traveled plenty, and I would definitely rate Americans as some of the most good-natured, friendly people around. I remember when I was dating a girl from England, and she was stunned the first time I went out of my way to hold a door open for her. She said people didn't do that there. And over the next few weeks I was there, I had plenty able-bodied young men and women just let the door close behind them, when I was almost within grabbing distance.
If Americans are anything, they are definitely not selfish and greedy.

There is a difference between your family providing resources for you, and the government taking money from families to provide resources for you.
My parents had spare living space. I needed somewhere to live. It is a pretty straightfoward situation. Me getting an apartment would have been a waste of money. But I guess wasting money is a foreign concept to those who live off of the government...

hmm that ranking has system has confused me. Ireland has a fiscal freedom percentage of 73% but America has a fiscal freedom rating of 68.3% and yet the overall tax revenue as a percentage of GDP was 26.8 percent for America but irelands was 30.5 percent. Which is it that maters?

IRA is about geopolitics, they want an independent Northern Ireland.

It is not easy to find good statistics to show actual quality of health care. Mainly because people always try to make the statistics out to be a social agenda (i.e. using people without health care or cost as a metric).
America has the best doctors and medical facilities. We also have specialized treatment that is not available in other countries. Why? Because other countries only look at what the entire country needs, not what you need. In America practices will spring up to treat rare conditions as long as there is money in.

Survival was significantly higher in the United States for all solid tumors, except testicular, stomach, and soft-tissue cancer, the authors report. The greatest differences were seen in the major cancer sites: colon and rectum (56.2% in Europe vs 65.5% in the United States), breast (79.0% vs 90.1%), and prostate cancer (77.5% vs 99.3%)

This of course depends on which country in Europe we are talking about. In Sweden we have private dentists and such but I've never heard about whole hospitals with surgery and everything.
There was a debate about some doctors putting up a private hospital but the Social Democrats got freakin' mad and refused to let it happen.
Gonna try to find a link but I'm not sure I can find it (it was a year ago since I read it).

There is a general tendency in europe from going from socialist to more liberal atm. That's why the unions and leeches are striking all over the continent atm. In Belgium the highest taxes also got lowered by 5% a bit back.

Americans claiming to be not selfish while saying in the same sentence "i dont want to give to the poor"
People saying "wow 10% tax rates, unbelievable what a country!" and in the same sentence they say country names like "czech" which has never ever been and never ever will be a great country in any sort of way, but hey they got low taxes!
Americans who say everyone can become rich by just plain hard work and thus stating that millions of americans are only lazy becasue they dont have a job, and even further they state this way that every one in this world can have a job and unemployment is just a consequence of lazyness.
The big problem is that most of the people think that the only right way is the extreme way.
"Only a complete free market is right!"
"Communism is wrong!"
"Healthcare is wrong!"
"Everyone can become rich!"
blah blah blah
Dont you get it? The more extreme an idea gets the wronger it gets. Not careing for anybody is plain wrong. careing for everybody who crys is plain wrong. Caring for those who deserve it is right.
Healthcare for everyone is wrong. Healthcare for nobody is wrong. HEalthcare for those who need it is right.
America isnt the best in the universe in everything they do, europe isnt as well. There are ideas of the US which are superior to those of other countrys (everything is possible if you have the money == progress) but there are ideas which are the worst of all (blind patriotism == root of all evil)
Same goes for europe.
Now try to be clever and try to find those ideas who are not extreme, and especially try to think of the reason someone came up with this idea (healthcare was not created because of some lazy people who didnt want to pay the money for the doctor, it was invented becasue it was seen to be not human to let people become/stay ill becasue they cant afford it)

Any country that doesn't infringe upon it's citizens in a great amount and lets them do what they want is a great country. Why would you compare former imperial powers of yesterdecade with tons of liberty violations to a place that has good amounts of freedom (both social and economic)?

Yep because we give it to people who need it. We obviously care about people more than you......
Two things. First of all, if you take from the people who don't need it and give to the people who do need it, why do you have a computer, or the internet? You don't need the shit, it's just frivolous waste when you could give that money to some schlub sleeping in a cardboard box.
Second, if your government stopped taxing you, would you still donate 1/2 or 3/4 of your earnings to charity?
If you don't sell your computer and cancel your internet then you are no better than an American. If you don't say yes to the second part, you are no better than an American. Don't fucking pretend you are better than anyone else when you enjoy the fruits of your own labor, just like everyone else. Don't say you care more about people when it's not your choice whether or not your money goes to helping other people, obviously you still have more money than you need because you are spending it frivolously on a computer and internet service that you don't need when you could be giving it to someone else in need. You are a joke.

as you said: "mayjority" -> not all!
Now its the duty of the gov to separate those who deserve help and those who are lazy.(a mother with 4 kids maybe cant go to work although she wants to(lets not discuss the idea of "why did she get 4 kids instead of 1 and a job" please this would lead too far away).
While my country gives everyone money and most of them more than enough, in america it seems the other way round.
Instead of pointing to the other laughing "your system is wrong" we should sit down and create a better system.
just my 2 european cents
If a mother has 4 kids that's no excuse. It's called putting the dick down. Easy enough solution. Or just find a job with on site day care.

I don't get it, I'm jealous of Europe because of...?
It is closer to Asia, that's about all I can think of.

Now try to be clever and try to find those ideas who are not extreme, and especially try to think of the reason someone came up with this idea (healthcare was not created because of some lazy people who didnt want to pay the money for the doctor, it was invented becasue it was seen to be not human to let people become/stay ill becasue they cant afford it)
Lets see what sounds more like extreme idealism.
1) The person who says, "People have the right to keep their hard earned money and choose whether or not they would like to donate to others."
2) Or the person who says, "I believe that those who who earn a larger income than others will be forced to pay for those who are poor. We shall do this by having the government decide how much we shall extract from those with higher incomes. If these people were to not comply then they shall be arrested.
Gonna have to go with option 2
cough ok the ultimate reason why europe > usa (europe turns into usa ahaha ok psssht)

fuck it let's stereotype more
most americans are complete idiots, but so are most europeans, asians and africans
the majority of this world's population is dumb as bread
so rejoice and have some fun life is too short to spend it hating
if anything you and we should hate the real enemies our governments
I don't get it, I'm jealous of Europe because of...?

No because we are better than you in every way? The only reason your beloved country exists is because of europe. Its like our dirty basterd child and we disowned you a long time ago.
