This is the tale of Nyran Kheiron, a Mirdain of great skill and potential in the realm of magic who, on questionable logic, decided to study the art of Necromancy in the hopes that it would help his people in their defense against the numerous Necromantic enemies arrayed against them.
His story, this story, begins now...
http://img107.mytextgraphics.com/photolava/2008/05/24/strip1-4am2u72o6.jpeg
After his illustrious introduction, he wanders in seek of aid. Stalwart adventurers to help him complete his quest to regain the faith of the Mirdain, and to once again be welcomed into his homeland...
http://img902.mytextgraphics.com/photolava/2008/05/24/strip2-4am2vh89n.jpeg
Now, joined by the most noticable Jenna Coxxx, Nyran sets forth to locate and claim a required, ancient relic. Of course, there are a few hiccups on the way...
http://img702.mytextgraphics.com/photolava/2008/05/24/strip3-fglvzso2.jpeg
None the less, despite Jenna's help, they manage to locate that dungeon out west...
http://img110.mytextgraphics.com/photolava/2008/05/24/strip4-4am2witfy.jpeg
Of course, just finding the place isn't the greatest of thier troubles. As is always the case, it's what's in the dungeon that proves the biggest hurdle...
http://img701.mytextgraphics.com/photolava/2008/05/24/strip5-4am2wuzkm.jpeg
And, despite his prowess, Nyran finds the surprises just keep on coming...
http://img902.mytextgraphics.com/photolava/2008/05/24/strip6-4am2xcdaq.jpeg
I've got a lot more left to the story, and many, many more strips of the comic, so I'll probably continue this later on. I dont want to overwhelm the audience with too much awesome at once, you see.

Hehe, I liked it. I kinda feel bad that Nyran the Mirdain necromancer was outcast from his homeland. Keep the comics coming, I can't way to see when he will learn the error of his ways.

That fucking sidebar keeps phasing in and out of my games so I had to turn it off. It took me 2 minutes to figure out how to save my comics properly because the pull down menu brings up websites and even the start menu has been turned into some bastardized Explorer in 1/4 of your screen.

I know what you mean. I do these up whenever I get an idea and so have a dozen or so done in advance. However, all that I was thinking up were one strip jokes that were almost completely random. It's like a skit show.
I have added to the storyline later on though, and since you've expressed a desire to see that, instead of this rather irrelevant though highly comical strips, I've deicded to skip a few and progress the story.
In case you have forgotten, Nyran is questing for several relics, though the reasons for which are still unknown.

Did you plan extensively on where this story is headed or are you just going with the flow?
Me?, Plan?, What?
I'm not even sure there is a 'flow' either. I've got the general basis of the 'story' figured out, but for the most part I just do each script as the idea comes to me. It's too hard to weasel jokes into a solid plan, I find, so I'm just doing it strip by strip for the most part and have my fingers crossed it leads somewhere.
Besides, it's more fun this way and I hopefully wont have to include any 'story filler' strips that aren't funny at all.

I like it, but why is there a flame on top of the hooded ones head when he looks the other way?
This is my bare dungeon background,
http://img902.mytextgraphics.com/photolava/2008/07/24/dungeonbase-4bae2k22d.jpeg
I make my comics seperately, and just paste them to background once done. It's quick and easy, but makes for some interesting effects. For instance, the top of my last comic seems to have a floating torch that's moving left (in comparison to Nyrans posistion), and there is the cloaked Necromancer obscuring half the centre bottom torch, giving him the 'hair on fire' look.
It's not intentional, just a product of my lazy design style, but I find it adds to the 'half arsed humour' feel of the comic anyway. They're stick figure comics made in MSPaint after all.
Danaya
07-24-2008, 05:58 PM
Aye, but it becomes a little strange looking when the hooded necro only shortly turns his head without walking anywhere, and the torch suddenly managed to moved several feet. Otherwise cool background idea :D Stick with it!

Sorry for the lag between posts. Been moving house and Telstra kept fucking me over with my internet transfer.
"It'll be on by Thursday"
Come Thursday,
"No, we said it'll be on by Friday"
Friday, 2pm,
"These things are usually put through by 4"
Friday, 8pm,
"No, these things only finalize at midnight"
Saturday,
"It should have been done, the computer tells me it was done but the department that actually does it is closed, but they shouldn't be, you're going to have to wait until Monday"
Monday,
"No, you have to wait for the tech..."
You'll probably be over-qualified for a job at Telstra if you had a sesame street play phone as a kid. I'm pretty convinced half thier staff couldn't figure out how to call Elmo.
Anyway, give me a few more days to sort shit out and I'll see what I can put up.

It's alright. It's Seth, so it's pretty typical comedy. Good for some laughs, and just to relax. But don't expect superior intelligence.
Not as ridiculous as the newer comedies like Zohan, not as stupid as the more recent Will Ferrel movies. A good balance.

Sorry for the gap in new content, I've been busy. One of the things I did was collaborate on a story with Jargo for the RBoM monthly contest. It's 4.5k words long, so get a drink and get settled.
________________________________________ _______________________
The hunt was almost over. Jargo had stalked his quarry through some of the most inhospitable terrain in all of Mercia, over jagged mountains and through dark, primeval forests. He had almost lost the scent twice, once at the banks of the Eanna River and once during a freak thunderstorm, one that he suspected had been called down upon him by his prey to impede his progress.
But like all Mahirim, he was a hunter and would not be thrown off the trail quite so easily. Now he had come to a place where no plant grew in the ground and no bird flew in the sky. A dead place, which Jargo thought was quite fitting given his quarry. The terrain was a dark, granite color and the large grey stones that littered the landscape twisted up from the ground in unnatural shapes like tortured wraiths rising from their graves.
He sniffed at the air and growled; lips curling back to reveal sharp, canine teeth. It was the scent again. He had followed it for days and now it had finally brought him here to the crumbling Chaldean ruins which stood cold and silent against the darkening pre-dusk sky. The scent of death, corruption and the blackest of magic’s.
The scent of Nyran Kheiron, the master necromancer, was unmistakable.
Jargo advanced cautiously, keeping to the lengthening shadows and darting behind fallen pillars and collapsed walls. Ahead he could see an entrance to what appeared to be an intact portion of the ruins which had been built into the side of a small cliff. Two humanoid shapes stood guard over an exposed doorway leading into the dilapidated structure. Their flesh was yellowed, dried and shrunken. Still wearing the same tattered cloths they were buried in, they swayed mindlessly back and forth, waiting patiently for an opportunity to execute the last order given to them by their master.
Ghouls. Eaters of the dead. Jargo unsheathed his twin swords and charged them, one blade high and one low. At his approach the monsters turned and shuffled towards him clumsily but purposefully with their arms outstretched and long, disease ridden claws grasping at the air. With a violent double slash the first ones head was separated from its body and its torso simultaneously separated from its legs. The second ghoul reached out to grab him and with another powerful slash from his left sword Jargo severed both its hands just bellow the wrists. Undeterred it lurched at him, snapping at him with its supernaturally elongated teeth and flailing at him with the stumps of its arms like they were clubs. With a disgusted sneer Jargo smashed the creatures head in with the flat of his blade, causing its skull to cave in on itself like a rotten pumpkin and sending it reeling to the ground.
The battle over, Jargo knelt down to wipe the ghouls thick, black blood off his swords in the dirt when he heard a frantic skittering sound behind him. He wheeled about and yelped in surprise when he saw that the monsters severed hands were crawling towards him like hungry, pale spiders. Horrified, he chopped at them again and again until they were nothing more than small cubes of quivering flesh. What is dead should stay dead, he thought as he entered the ruins. With each step the feeling of dread grew within him. The stink of corruption hung thick in the air and the wind whistled through gaps in the stone, adding a haunting tune to the already chilling scene. Jargo was beginning to feel quite certain he'd rather be anywhere but here.
His nerves on end, Jargo continued through the dark stone passageway until the sound of stone on stone froze him in his tracks and he cursed himself for his carelessness. While watching and listening for the sounds of danger with a paranoid fervor, he had clipped a loose rock with his foot and sent it skidding into the dark. Every bounce of the stone sounded like the clash of cymbals in his ear until it finally came to rest within a crack in the wall. Yet, something was wrong. The sound persisted; the grind of stone remained and grew louder. Determined not to be caught off guard, Jargo readied his swords and backed up against the wall, so nothing could sneak up on him in the gloom. As his back hit the hard wall the rock gave way and he was soon falling backwards through a rotating doorway, previously hidden. With an ungraceful thud he found himself staring up from the flat of his back, right at a face he knew well, or at least well enough.
"You could have just knocked..." Nyran said as he looked down on his latest guest, the glow of torchlight giving him a somewhat glowing aura which seemed remarkably out of place. "...and I expect to be compensated for the guards."
Jargo rolled over and stood, unsure of whether being in a well lit room with Kheiron was an improvement on being in an unlit corridor with unknown horrors. He had known the Necromancer for a while now though, and had yet to hear of him harming any Blade, so he made an unnoticed show of faith and sheathed his swords. Uncaring, Nyran wandered back to his workbench. "Here," he called as he lobbed an object over his shoulder at Jargo, who deftly sidestepped it and let it clang to the floor. "It's the 'artifact', numb-nuts, and what you came here for I assume?"
"Yes," Jargo replied as he bent down to recover the newly dinted object. "You're not going to try and keep it?" he continued, cautious at having been given the artifact without contest.
"What, that worthless piece of metal and paint?" Kheiron scoffed, "I scratch my balls with more impressive things and you can't honestly think I give a damn about Chrystan and his games. I wasn't even in that battle you managed to loose so spectacularly...though I suppose I should thank you for the abundance of raw material you guys left behind. Hey, maybe you should take a look around my place; you may see a familiar face or two." Jargo knew he was being riled up and instinctively half reached for a sword.
"Oh settle down before you get yourself killed," Kheiron interrupted with a dismissive wave of his hand, and Jargo let his arm return to his side with obvious displeasure. Just then the sound of footsteps floated from a doorway set further back in the room, followed by the sound of something dragging. Step and drag, step and drag. Soon, the sound of muffled sobbing became audible as well. Unsure of what to expect, but confident he wouldn't like it, Jargo slowly backed up while trying to portray no fear to his grey cloaked host.
Through the gloomy doorway came the dulled yellow and corrupted green of a long dead and well decomposed body, flanked by two others in similar states of decay. Yet none seemed to be as restricted in mobility are your average long dead corpse as they dragged three somewhat pinker bodies behind them. Worn leather armor and strong hempen rope covered most of the dragged three, and each of their faces showed clear proof they had been crying like whipped pups, which they continued to do in muffled tones.
"Ah," Kheiron exclaimed, "My newest additions. You should thank me by the way, Jargo. Now you won’t have to look over your shoulder on the way home."
"What?"
"These guys are those thugs Chrystan sent out after that trinket you're holding and I caught them along the Eanna when they came after it. I sure hope Chrystan didn't pay in advance, I might have saved him some coin as well"
"Please...please," whimpered the leftmost of the three trussed up thugs, "Help...me". He looked straight at Jargo with eyes of pure fear and begged him, "Help".
"Bad human, very bad human!" Kheiron scalded as he let fly with a kick that jabbed the begging man in the ribs, causing him to cringe and retreat into the fetal position. "Be quiet when we have guests." Kheiron returned his attention to Jargo, "Honestly, what has happened to manners these days?"
Jargo stood stunned. He knew the men’s fate was certain, that they'd soon become another shambling corpse floating around at the Necromancers command or if they were lucky they'd merely be tortured and tested on until there was nothing left worth raising. There was nothing he could do for them, not now, not anymore. No matter how much he disliked it, no matter how much his stomach twisted and his morals raged, he turned his back on the man that begged him for help.
"You should be able to find your way out," Kheiron said as Jargo exited the room via the rotating doorway he came in through, "And please keep your swords sheathed. Your visits are taxing enough as is."
Jargo stepped out from the ruins and into the pale light of the full moon. He had accomplished his mission successfully, so why did he feel so unsatisfied? Cautiously making his way past the remains of the ghouls he had slain earlier, he began planning his trip back. He would have to be careful; life was dangerous for a lone Mahirim traveling through Mercia, land of the humans.
A horrible shriek echoed from the ruins entrance, stopping Jargo dead in his tracks. No doubt the human thugs that had been sent after them were meeting their fate deep within the necromancer’s lair. The Mahirim were considered to be one of the civilized races of Agon, but still not far removed from their more primitive animal instincts. Jargo knew that the thugs were weak and therefore deserved to be prey, but something was wrong about this situation. To die in combat was one thing, but what Jargo was sure that what Nyran had in mind for his victims went against all the known laws of nature.
Another scream roused him from his thoughts. Jargo thought of the men he had seen being dragged away by the deathless ones, the desperate horror in their eyes, and then he thought about the ghouls that had attacked him. With a deep growl, he unsheathed his swords and marched back into the ruins.
The dead were waiting for him. They came one after the other, cadaverous zombies, some of them nothing more than skeletons with strands of dried sinew hanging from their bones. Their vacant eye sockets glared at Jargo blindly as they shambled towards him, guided by the will of their unholy master.
“I believe I told you to leave..." Nyran’s magically amplified voice boomed like thunder from every angle, emanating from the very rock the ruins had been constructed of. The corridor leading out from the ruins entrance way was narrow, ruling out effective sword play so Jargo instead charged forward like a cannon ball, relying on his massive frame and strength to bowl over his attackers.
"Persist and you'll only find death here."
The huge Mahirim smashed through the undead like a battering ram, sending corpses flying to the ground as he ran through the corridor. Those that fell before him were trampled and he gagged inwardly as his right foot broke through a zombie’s ribcage and into the cold, decaying stew of its chest cavity. He heard a faint rumbling and the familiar sound of stone against stone echo off the walls of the corridor. The passageway! Jargo sprinted forward but all he could do before the wall sealed shut was to unsheathe one of his swords and lodge the blade part it in the crack where the opening had been seconds before.
"Last chance."
Undeterred he braced himself, grabbed hold of the swords hilt and used it to slowly pry the door open. His muscles strained and the blade nearly snapped, but he was able to make the opening large enough that he could wedge his body into the doorway and then use the strength in his back and legs to force it open so he could pass through.
"Suit yourself, but don’t say I didn't warn you. . ."
More undead where there to greet Jargo in the chamber where he had last encountered Kheiron. He lashed out at them savagely with his twisting blades, quickly immobilizing them rather than taking the time to destroy the wretched abominations . He then ran down another short hallway and through the door he had seen the zombies drag the men through earlier and stumbled directly into a nightmare.
At first he thought that it was a torture chamber but then he realized that this must be the necromancer’s work shop. Glass beakers containing colorful glowing liquids and strange, intricate devices that Jargo did not identify were set up on tables along the length of the long, rectangular room. Hastily assembled shelf’s sagged under the weight of thick, moldering books and adjustable tables with worn leather straps were arranged haphazardly about the room, the later caked in dark, dried blood although Jargo noted that some of it was fresh.
There was a large cylindrical glass tank filled with algae-green water at the far corner of the room with a humanoid corpse floating in it. Copper pipes ran into the tank from a quietly humming black metal box along the wall and it appeared that there were dozens of wires that connected the floating body to the contraption. Momentarily distracted, Jargo gazed into the tank and taped at the glass with a clawed finger.
The corpse spasmed violently. In shock, Jargo roared and punched through the glass, shattering the tank and dumping dozens of gallons of foul smelling green water over his head and onto the floor. Some of it got into his mouth and he fell to his knees, retching at its briny flavor.
“That’s enough!” boomed a voice from the entry way. Jargo leapt to his feet and stared into the furious green eyes of Nyran Kheiron. Like those of a cat, they almost seemed to glow in the darkness of the laboratory. “Tsk, tsk, tsk. Just look at the terrible mess you’ve made of my workshop. Do you have any idea how hard it is to get a tank like that?”
“Where are they?” Jargo barked. “The humans?”
“Ah...yes, why don’t you boys come out here and introduce yourselves?” The three thugs shuffled out of the doorway from behind Nyran, their movements jerky as if they were being controlled by invisible strings, and arranged themselves in a row between the Mahirim and their master. While there was no visible damage to their bodies, their milky white eyes and vacant expressions on their faces revealed their undeath.
“Zombies, meet Jargo. Jargo, Zombies. Now that you’re all acquainted why don’t you boys go play?” The undead lurched forward as one and began to make their way across the room towards the Mahirim. Jargo planted his feet shoulder length apart with one foot pointing forward, bent his knees slightly and raised his swords in the air; ready to strike.
“You fiend!” He roared. At that Nyran cackled wickedly.
“Save us Jargo! Save us pleeeeaaase! Well, this is your big chance, you stupid animal! Save them!” The zombies attacked. In the blink of an eye, Jargo slashed down and outward with both swords cutting an upside-down “V” into the air. Both the left and right blades found their mark, cleaving two zombie’s skulls in half at 90 degree angles. The top parts of their heads slid off, spilling brains and chunks of clotted blood as they collapsed to the floor.
“Even in death those guys are worthless,” Kheiron sighed. “My turn!” A bolt of purple eldritch energy streaked out from Nyran’s outstretched hand and flared across the room. Jargo, who had just impaled a zombie with both swords, (which was still grasping at him mindlessly) lifted the creature up on his blades and hurled it towards its master. The zombie cart-wheeled through the air and connected with Kheiron’s energy blast with a loud explosion, the force of which sent the now mangled zombie back the other direction straight at Jargo, who had to leap to his side in order to avoid the undead projectile. It crashed through a table and then slammed into the wall with a dull, sickening thud.
“Hmm...zombie tossing. I’ve invented a new sport!” Nyran exclaimed triumphantly. He began launching energy bolts indiscriminately about the room, blasting worktables into splinters, shattering glass beakers and exploding delicate equipment into pieces. Jargo was forced to play defense, jumping and rolling about frantically in an effort to dodge the deadly missiles. “Stand still so I can kill you!”
Nyran launched another bolt directly at the Mahirim’s head. Jargo ducked just in time and instead it blew up a bookcase behind him sending hundreds of shredded pages flying into the air, creating a blizzard of parchment. Jargo noticed that the force of the explosion had severally damaged the bookcase and through the debris he noticed there was an opening into another small passage way. Seizing upon the opportunity, he leapt into the bookcase shoulder first and crashed through the false wall out to the other side. Behind him Nyran was screaming something but Jargo was too concerned with escaping the wrath of the mad necromancer to listen as he ran down the hall and through a large set of thick wooden double doors into a dimly lit chamber.
He quickly bared the doors shut with a thick wooden plank he found leaning against the wall and scanned his surroundings. This chamber was roughly the same size of the workshop, but instead of the horrors of that room this one appeared wholesome, disturbingly serene. In the rooms’ center, lit only by the light of a few candles, was a white stone pedestal with a circular base upon which rested an intricately carved tablet. The figure of an angelic looking woman was engraved into it in such a way that she seemed to be rising out from the stone.
A wide variety of dead flowers were piled up around the shrine, the cloyingly sweet odor they produced was so overpowering that Jargo thought he could nearly taste it in his mouth. Entranced by the scene, he found his eyes drawn to those of the woman in the relief sculpture. The shadows cast by the soft light of the candles danced and flickered about her, giving the illusion that she was moving ever so slightly, alive in the stone. Suddenly the doors behind him burst open, shattering the door’s bar into splinters. Kheiron strode in purposefully, the air around him crackling with furious energy and his face twisted in hatred and anger.
"You fucking mongrel," Nyran screamed as his eyes locked on the Mahirim's, "how dare you intrude here!" Within an instant, every shadow in the room seemed to shimmer, to move like curtains in the breeze though no wind could be felt. Two yellow lights formed in the waving darkness, then four, then eight. The moaning of tortured souls echoed off the stone walls, creating a chorus of agony which cut Jargo to the bone. They emerged from the shadows as if the darkness was a doorway; four rancid and ravenous undead, teeth gnashing in anticipation.
"I gave you every chance to walk away. Why couldn't you just WALK AWAY!!?"
Then the world went black. Jargo's heart sank; the darkness was Kheiron's element, this was his home, his minions surrounded him and all Jargo had was his swords and his senses. He couldn't even see to find his way out and escape.
Jargo's ears pricked up when he heard very faint chanting and a whiff of sulphur sent a surge of recognition and fear through his mind. He dove to his left as the room lit up with the light of a thousand candles and a rippling ball of flame shot at him from Kheiron's finger tips. It impacted against the stone wall with such force that the entire ruin seemed to shake and Jargo was forced to cover his ears. Before he could even regain his footing the snarling form of a ghoul leapt towards him in the spells fading light. With practiced skill, Jargo caught it on the points of both swords and redirected it to the ground, narrowly avoiding its grasping claws. Then darkness claimed the room once more.
"Nyran, you’ll kill us both!” Jargo yelled into the blackness as his got to his feet. Kheiron did not reply. With the same speed as the first, a second fireball leapt across the room towards Jargo but this one illuminated the outline of the ghoul Jargo had recently stabbed. It hit the undead creation in the back, reducing it of flaming bits of corpse which rained downed on Jargo, starting spot fires on his fur. He didn't even have time to beat out the flames as a second ghoul made its attack. Jargo deftly decapitated it with one strike and halved it with the second before turning the flat of his blades on himself, swatting the burning patches of fur into submission.
The combination of smells that now filled the lair was almost overpowering. Nyran opted to shift the balance further towards sulfur and let loose with his third fireball of the evening. Jargo moved onto the offensive and made use of the fleeting light from the spell by leaping towards the remaining two ghouls. One copped a sword across the chest, its pallid, decayed flesh parting like jelly against the kiss of steel. The second caught a sword in the rotted hole that was once a nose, cleaving off half its skull. Both hit the stone floor as the fire vanished again, and darkness enveloped the room once more.
"Come out, come out, wherever you are..." Kheiron sang into the gloom, the tone of his voice and the sheer malice that accompanied it made Jargo's skin crawl. He sure as hell wasn't about to come out, but Nyran wasn't inclined to give him a choice.
The gloom was once again shattered by the power of Fire magic, though the spell Kheiron was invoking was clearly a step above the fireballs he'd let loose so far. A glow strong enough to hurt the eyes burned fiercely between his hands and the ground beneath him began to shudder and shake. Every shadow in the room was banished as the spell grew in power. Chips of rock and dust vibrated from the roof and walls. Jargo, now caught out in plain sight, was at a loss. They'd be no surviving this spell. He couldn't reach Nyran in time either, and even if he could the magical backlash of a broken spell of this power would still likely kill him at best, bring the entire ruins down upon him at worst. The spell reached its crescendo and it was like the sun had come down to Agon upon the peak of an earthquake. Jargo closed his eyes in acceptance of his fate and heard a scream of pure heartbreak and fear echo above every noise in the room.
"NOOOO!!!"
The light of the spell retreated into darkness in an instant, and the controlled heat of the blast exploded in the chambers confines with a deafening boom. Jargo slowly opening his eyes to peer into the darkness and found Kheiron on his knees before the raised stone dais he'd noticed on entry.
The carved stone tablet, the clear centerpiece of the room, had shook loose from it's pedestal during the fighting and had crashed upon the unyielding stone floor. He had not even heard it shatter amongst the sounds of the spells, but the dozen scattered fragments told the tale. Jargo looked over to Kheiron, the Mirdain Necromancer who had so recently been trying to kill him with manic abandon, and saw a man entirely defeated. He held a piece of the shattered stone tablet in each hand and stared down at the rest, unmoving. Jargo was as confused now as he'd even been this night and then Nyran broke the silence in a voice full of sorrow and pain.
"She was the only one to every love me," He began, clearly struggling to keep his emotions from overwhelming him. "She, she was the first to find out about my study of Necromancy, I couldn't hide anything from her, and she still loved me. She was a healer, if you'll believe it. What I was doing was the complete opposite of everything she stood for, everything she believed in...and she still loved me. She'd be a bit annoying about things though. I can't tell you how many times I was lectured about the 'natural order'." Jargo could only listen on in shocked silence, his mouth agape. Nyran returned the two fragments in his hands to the pile, and turned to prop himself up on the dais that once supported the tablet.
"Then the others found out," He continued, "Her parents, my parents...everyone. They started spewing such vile names, calling me demon-spawn, psychopath, alfar...and she was the only one to stand up for me. Even my own parents wouldn't do that. You should have seen the look on my mothers face, such disgust...for her own child. I did it all to help!" His eyes snapped up to look directly at Jargo, such a swirl of conflicting emotions emboldened by long felt rage that evaporated in near an instant. Kheiron’s gaze returned to the shattered tablet.
"Her parents were quick to ban me from seeing her, and no matter what I did I couldn't get so much as a glimpse of her for a week. After that though, she actually came to see me, backed by her parents of course, and she...she broke my heart. She told me she hated me, that the mere sight of me made her sick. That vile crap everyone was having a great time yelling at me suddenly came from her lips. Word for fucking word..."
Jargo couldn't believe what he was hearing. Mere seconds before the Necromancer was trying to kill him. Now, Jargo thought he might even be crying. The stresses of the night had finally overwhelmed him and he sunk to his knees, still dazed and immensely confused.
"They turned her against me. A couple of nights later, she was going to hang out with friends, while her parents were alone in the house. I...I was just so angry. The house went up in flames so fast. I channeled all my hatred, all my rage..."
Seconds of silence past. Not a single sound was heard. It was like the entire world was holding its breath.
"She wasn't supposed to be there!" Kheiron exploded, a shadow of the anger shown previously, but it still caught Jargo off guard and he instinctively flinched back.
"She...she wasn't supposed to be there..."
After what seemed like eons had passed, Nyran quietly spoke up again. "I should kill you, you know."
"I know." Jargo replied. He had seen the depth of Nyran's character condensed into a single night and it had utterly exhausted him, both physically and emotionally. Yesterday, he had feared and abhorred the man, but now he felt nothing but overwhelming pity.
"I wish to be alone" Nyran said, "If you ever tell anyone, if you ever come back here..."
"Yes, I know," Jargo replied as he got back on his shaky feet. "You have my promise."
He turned and walked to the door and without looking back made his way into the night.
Three sharp knocks on the door of his office roused Chrystan Dalakarv from his thoughts. Scowling, the leader of The Red Blades quickly straightened up his desk and checked his uniform to ensure that he was presentable. Now what did those children want? More food? Better sleeping quarters? Medicine? With his officers away it was getting to be almost impossible to find a moment to himself without some new crisis erupting that demanded his attention.
“Enter!” He commanded. Jargo, the Mahirim, lumbered into the room, hunching down to fit his broad frame into the human-sized door way. He took three steps forward into the room and snapped to attention.
“Sir, reporting as ordered.” At least this dog has been properly trained, Chrystan thought to himself.
“Well?” he replied tersely.
“Sir, I have retrieved the object as per your instructions.” Jargo explained, holding out the artifact in his right hand.
“I see. And what of Kheiron?” asked Chrystan with a raised eyebrow.
“He’s well, Sir.”
“That’s very... interesting. Well, I’m sure you’ll be rewarded for your efforts. You can keep that artifact or sell it in town, I couldn’t care less. Dismissed!” Jargo about-faced smartly and exited the room, slamming the door behind him and causing a picture hung on the wall to fall to the ground, smashing its frame. Chrystan Dalakarv closed his eyes and sighed. Stupid animal.
Jargo left camp and headed over to the swift running river that bordered its eastern parameter. Like the Mahirim’s thoughts, the water was dark and turbulent. Was Nyran well as he had said? Most currently not. However, what he had seen in the Necromancers lair gave him hope. If a monster like Kheiron could still feel love and sorrow, was there still hope of such a man redeeming himself? He sat down and gazed deep into the water until long after the sun had set and the sky had grown dark. Finally, reaching a conclusion, he threw the artifact into the river and walked back to camp.

Fine, lets skip the engrossing and enlightening writing and get back to the comics.
I present the "Roleplaying choices which just dont quite work" series. Well, it will be a series once I make another one.

I couldn't easily think up ways to continue the old story while still keeping it in the same size and still have it funny. I didn't want to get into the habit of having 'gap fillers' or a few pages of comic just to set the joke up.

I want more Nyran, this stuff is funny but Nyran is the shit. If you can't think of funny stuff just continue his story with maby Nyran getting on a ship and making everyone into undead and going around sailing a ghost ship and pirating everyone, idk, something like that you can think of stuff.

This may seem like a weird request, but I use a lot of extra characters in some of my strips but I'm not particularly found of making new characters, nor using the same extras repetatively.
So, I'm posting up the base guy that I use as a starter for my characters. If anyone wants to participate, or maybe just wants to see a representation of themselves show up in my strips, please use this picture to create a character of your own. You can easily make something interesting in MSPaint, then upload it to any picture hosting site (I use photolava because there is no registration crap) and PM me a direct link.
When I need a new character, I'll pick one, though I'll be sure to finish the strip with a tagline denoting the characters creator.
My Orks use the same basis, you can simply extend the body for added height, less height for Dwarves, and if there is an interest I'll post the Mahirim base. Mirdain and Alfar can be adapted from the first one, with some added ears.

Thats a good idea...I might have to steal it.
But no, not extra characters, just nameless filler characters and extras for those strips where I simply need another body. Like the dudes in the "You got served" one.
Reikson has made two filler characters so far, but they'd be out of place anywhere but a Gay Pride Parade. (Seriously, I have some concerns about that dude).
Also, I am so, so sorry about the delay. I've been working, as in actually doing stuff and being paid for it. It tends to fill up most of the day and leave you too apathetic to do anything with whatever's left. I've also been sleeping at night, which is an odd new feeling...
