Is there any lore behind the Bindstones, Clanstones, and Chaosstones? We know that when you bind to them you are allowed to revive at their location, but why and how? Is there any lore on this? Or will it be like WoW where it's just up to our imaginations to think up some excuse.

Absolutely none. Many clans fail to appreciate the existence of clan stones when they're writing their background. Up until now I have considered old age to be the only true enemy of a mortal's longevity, apart from the most powerful of ritual magics that may be able to tear one's soul from a bindstone.

There is this thread from a while ago that could serve as a premise for some: http://forums.darkfallonline.com/showthread.php?t=24803

Thanks.
It's a pretty interesting concept. I wonder though: Since Bindstones have a limited number of people who can bind to them, do you think everyone has access to them? Or would it very much be an area of contention who gets to be bound? Would the peasents and serfs be bound, etc.
It's a pretty big lore hole is what I guess I'm trying to say.

Personally, I've been thinking of them as phylacteries, a magical 'roadblock' in the natural cycle of death that stops the dparting spirit from leaving the physical realm while the magics of the stone perform a version of ressurection.
It explains the need to be pre-bound to a stone, as setting up any idea to contain your soul upon death requires some preperation. Plus, it solved the problem of limited binds by stone, as each stone can only hold so many souls.
On the history of the stones, I'd tie them in with the word stones, as either an intentional creation by the goddess or the Usurper gods. This expalins why there is a set limit of those stones about the place, why they seem to have an alignment (chaos stones for instance) and why they're in certain locations.
As for the Mirdain gods the other thread mentioned, I dont think you want to tie godhood into the bind stones as the explaination given is a little weak. After all, those two failed utterly in thier quest and showed bravery equalled or surpassed by any number of heroes throughout Agons history.
If I were to hazard a guess, I'd say thier deification would be tied more to some influence or event related to the demon plane which they supposedly discovered, and since they are the only two to discover it, and the only two mortals to ascend to godhood without the use of word stones, it makes sense.
