It would be so much cooler if the lawsuits wouldn't be solved by lawyers and judges but by private armies.
I wonder which mistake they found by those companies that lets them sue them, you'd think that IGE was careful not to do anything that might get someone to sue them.

They are suing them for gold farming in violation of terms of use clause. It is also unlawful business practices, according to the lawsuit.

Careful?? They flagrantly violate the ToS. The ability to sue has always been there. The only question is why wouldnt a company "like" Blizzard file themselves. (IMO) They dont want players to have any ownership rights to their characters beyond the subscription fee.

It doesnt appear, by the complaint, that is the intent of the complainant, but anything is possible when the judge starts talking.

I always try to put blame where it belongs and this one is clearly the devs and wows fault. Unfortunately until we get rid of the 'fat loot' attitude games will not change for the better.

A 10-20 year dry spell of no MMO's would fix those dirty gold farmers real good. Why they'd have to close up shop and go back to killing stray cats and dogs in alleys for chinese buffets again. The General Tsao Fluffy and Fido meal hasn't been quite as tasty since the gold farmers proliferated, they've been using chicken in it.

10-20 years provided all MMO's moved along as slowly as DFO has...

one reason i could think of, they increase the cost of items bought from other players, because it's in their interest to make them more expensive.

there wouldnt be many customers compared to other MMO's, and a large percentage of the players that ARE here would kill them every chance they get, even if they dont realize that they are goldfarmers.

Eve has a problem with farmers and that's pretty much FFA.

To think that a FFA system would stop gold farming is just not based in reality, it is just based in a irrational hatred of all things WoW.

It fucks up the economy, but also and probably more important to most:
I'd gives gold buyers an advantage over others (in gear based games) because they can buy the best gear without putting any effort in them, this way, the people with much money IRL have an adventage while the whole point of a MMO is to provide a second live, undependent of RL.

I would be pissed off too if some noob who has playing a game for 1 hour has a max lvl char with uber gear while I haven't after playing for years.

The best way to counter goldfarmers is to do what Turbine/CM did with LotrO. Don't allow ANY asian IP to play the game, it worked really well. I only encountered 1 goldfarmer in the 1.5 years I played.

If there is money to be made and gold is something useful in DFO, the farmers will find away. Your desire to play the game is never going to compete with their desire to make money.
