Nice interview with a few new bits of info.
Also think there was 2 new screen shots that at least I did not see before.

What's up with this quote from the interview?
"We had the chance to test the alpha-version at their office (see the screenshots above)."
There wasn't a single screenshot shown, that they got from going to RazorWaX. All of those screenshots could have been gotten by anyone, just by visiting the official Darkfall website. Who are they trying to fool?

Gowel: They were at the Razor-Cave, and took picture with a camera or something, but I agree that it doesn't seem like those pictures were taken at the Razor-Cave, but just downloaded from the website.

Well, they were actually here and took some pictures with a camera, but for some reason they did not print any of these pictures.
Also (and this annoyed me somewhat) they say that the current version of Darkfall wasnt much to look at, but we stated clearly that all we could show them right now (due to our NDA), was the 6 months old Pre-Alpha version of Darkfall - not the new stuff... somehow they forgot to mention this :\
But still, its a good read and a nice interview http://www.darkfallonline.com/community/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

As Claus states out, we did take photos indeed. But we were not very satisfied with them, and decided to put out some shots made by Razorwax themself a month before the interview. Its from the same build we played, and mostly the same areas we played too. We aint even telling you that we took the pictures, what we say is that we played it and got some screenshots from the version we played. I dont really see the problem here.

I do agree that the interview should really mention the correct time period for which the 'not much to look at' content was taken.
I feel it may be misleading in a way. As I am familiar with what games look like in such an early stage of development, I found DF to be impressive in its extremely early stages. With this in mind I have a good feeling that the newer content will be impressive and comparable to the other major titles.
Should someone not be familiar with the development process, they may feel that the 'not much to look at' judgement is more concrete.

I agree on that too, and it will be edited when I get home later today. About Claus' disapointment because I wrote "not much to look at", I can say that he actually had plenty of time to give me a note about it before we posted it. No comments, so we released it like that. But I do also mention the good things in this build. Still I am sorry if we did something wrong here, and we will edit it if you feel like that Claus. Feel free to send me a mail anytime.

Yes I felt the interview was therough and well-written.
The above comment was my only problem and I am thankful that it has been reviewed and considered. Good work Sincus.

I also think the article was informative and good, not that it was very much new information for me, but I do read the board and FAQ 15 times a day.
But like it's been said, articles like the one gamer.no published is kind of like free PR, (not that any PR is bad PR) but if someone who doesn't know anything about the game, see "old" screenshots and stuff like that, and think that's it, then you might lose that potentional customer.
BUT, like I've said, the article was intersting, and I do feel that just the text might have people check out the game.
The one thing that most of the people following DF is waiting for, is that new stuff is being released, and with an article like that, I assume some of us were hoping for some new screenshots and stuff like that, so the NDA is our enemy =)
It was a good article that revealed a bit more about what the devs have in mind. It wasn't a lot of new information, but it did give new perspective to some old information. Every little bit of information that we can squeeze from these tight-lipped devs is good. ;-)
I don't think it was what was said in the final paragraph, but rather how it was worded. It seemed negative because it said that there wasn't much to look at and that "There isn't much going for Darkfall...". If you skim the paragraph you come out thinking DF got a negative review, but if you read it the paragraph is actually saying DF pre-alpha isn't much to look at and that Linux and Mac users shouldn't hold their breath; both statements are true. Given the stage of the game there really isn't a whole lot more that you can say in comparison to games that are already released. Don't worry Sincus, it was still a good article. :-)
I still think that it is early for you devs to be doing many interviews. It's hard to flaunt your game when you aren't able to talk about any of the details or show any of the current graphics. It's even harder for a reporter to write an objective article about a game when you won't reveal many details. :-)
(although I secretly want the devs to do more interviews so that I can keep picking out clues as to what they have in mind)

This was a very well written interview! I did think the summary was a bit negative feeling, but I gleaned the information that they were discussing the fact that it is in pre-alpha, and not that the game sucks http://www.darkfallonline.com/community/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
Can't wait to see some of the latest bits!

My name is Erling, and I work at gamer.no with Tor-Steinar here. A while ago I wrote an article on Darkfall, a sort of preview. Anyway, when Tor-Steinar says the game didn't look that good when he saw it, he's only doing his duty as a journalist. He is supposed to tell you exactly what he felt.
Anyway, Darkfall is very interesting. I've played all the MMORPGs on the market today, and I've even developed one myself (a 2D thingie a while ago). What inspires me about Darkfall isn't the graphics (which is OK, but could be improved), but the team. I love small development teams who put all their spirit and enthusiasm into their projects, and really goes for it. Asheron's Call did it, let's hope Darkfall will too.
Two thumbs up for Darkfall. However, I have one minor question; with all this work left to do on the game, and Darkfall not even having gone trough alpha; how can we expect a Q1 2003 release? Seems impossible, don't it?
