The purpose of this thread is to brainstorm for cool clan concepts that would work in the world of Darkfall.
Please be constructive and don't go offtopic. Post your own suggestions or comment on someone else's.
I'll start this off with my concept for a druid clan:
DRUIDS OF THE BLACKWOOD
Clan concept: A bunch of treehuggers opposing the spread of civilization into the untamed wilds.
Clan goal: Destroy all cities and mines on Agon.
Leadership structure: Ruling council (elected for lifetime or until resignation by full members)
Hierarchy:
Elders: 5-member ruling council. Makes decisions.
Druids: Full members of the clan. The Circle of Druids elects new Elders.
Initiates: New members of the clan.
Roleplaying: Encouraged.
Crafting: Heavily encouraged. The Druids strive for self-sufficiency.
PvP: Required. The struggle of the wilds must be fought with all weapons at our disposal.
Required prestige class: Druid (full members only)
Resource management: Socialistic. Members are not permitted to be rich and must surrender most of their possessions to the Druids. Worldly goods are inconsequential and only serve to take away focus from spiritual balance.
Accepted races: All but Alfar.
Credo: 'With staff and rock and fire, we shall kill all those who would defile Mother Nature and tear the walls of their cities down'

So they will be fighting for the "wilds" with weapons from civilization?

Being fanatics they also get a +10 to all saving throws against reasonable arguments.
But the idea is that the Druids try to be self-sufficient and make their own arms and armour if possible. Afaik the Druid prestige class will include some restrictions on the kind of armour and possibly weapons you can use so they won't run around in fullplate like some other knight.
Also keep in mind it's just an idea.

What if you need mines to sustain your flow of weaponry? It's ok for you to have mines, but no one else? Actually, this idea sounds neat... just need to find a way to keep yourself equipped and organized without a city. Ah, wait, I know... you'll equip yourself with looted shit from your enemies!
But you can't craft without resources. You'll need to raid caravans for shit. But doesn't it seem kind of odd to wait for some one to fill up a wagon with iron ore from a mine, just so you can trash the caravan and steal it without having to actually operate a mine?

Druids won't be able to use metal armour, so hopefully we won't be needing too much ore. We can make leather or fur armour from animal hides though. As for weapons I have honestly no idea.
Just as a side note, this isn't a clan I'm necessarily planning to make myself...I just have a few clan ideas swirling around in my head and figured I should get them down on paper for critique and inspiration.
I came up with this idea as I was thinking about how player-built cities will expand civilization into the intamed wilds of the world of Agon. Then I thought, like 'wouldn't it be natural if some people opposed this expansion of civilization?' It's a nice thematic conflict to build up a guild around, with a lofty goal that's going to be extremely hard to accomplish but will give plenty of opportunities for working towards. I also think a druids guild like this could add an interesting aspect to the gameworld, rather than another cookie cutter smacktalking pvp guild running around killing random people.

Not a guild, but a secret society of anarchists, revolutionaries and agents determined to sow chaos and topple a city government and set up a revolutionary dictatorship! Now that would be cool.

KNIGHTS OF THE SACRED SPRINGS
Clan concept: An order of crusader knights dedicated to finding the Sacred Springs and bringing the light of God to all unbelievers.
Clan goal: Destroy or convert all unbelievers. Find and reclaim the Sacred Springs.
Leadership structure: Dictatorial.
Hierarchy:
Grandmaster: Leader. Decides things.
Clerics: Spiritual leaders. Runs the bureaucracy.
Paladins: Senior warriors and battlefield commanders. When the Grandmaster resigns, a new Grandmaster is appointed by the Paladins from their ranks.
Knights: Full members.
Squires: Novice members. Each squire serves a certain Knight or Paladin until he earns his spores.
Roleplaying: Encouraged.
Crafting: Heavily encouraged. The Knights are gonna be very hard pressed for cash.
PvP: Required for all members. Typical fighting style will be focused around a core of heavy cavalry, with squires serving as light cavalry support and warrior-priests serving as spellcasters.
Required prestige class: Crusader required for Paladins, heavily encouraged for Knights as well.
Resource management: Relatively capitalistic. Each Knight is responsible for keeping himself equipped with high-quality equipment at all times. This includes heavy armour, a warhorse, sword, shield and (maybe) lance. Donations to the Order will also be expected, but between the money-reducing penalty of the Crusader prestige class and the need for lots of equipment, the Knights are probably goning to be tight on cash for the most part.
Accepted races: Humans.
Territorial: Yes and no. The Order will not build cities, but will strive to capture them from the heathens. It has no territorial ambitions beyond spreading the True Faith, however, but establishing a Crusader Kingdom is definitely not out of the question.
Credo: 'Deus Vult!'

No, it doesn't have to be communist, it could be Fascist, recreate The Duce's March on Rome! Seriously though, commit terrorist acts by bombing buildings and banks with pouches of explosion potions (I did this in UO).

Great original idea! Perhaps you should call it "The Red Order" though?
