Annoucing Darkfall's first ever Dwarf only PVP tournament

[Ginger Magician]

A new pvp tournament will take place on Saturday 6th August at 2:30pm GMT which is only open to the dwarf race.

This tournament will follow the lines of the normal Ninogan events with best of 5 duels random draw for the particpants and full looting after winning your best of 5.

The entry fee will be 20k with a winner takes it all approach.All entry fees will be paid as prize money to the winner and as organizer i will take no fee for my work.

Payment can be made on the day of the tournament to myself or if you prefer not to give me your gold you can pay it to Miia Mercator the trusted trader of EU-1.

The rules of the tournament will be anything goes with no limit on gear or equipment or mounts the main rule being that you must fight and not run an unreasonable distance away from the predetermined duel arena.

Venue as yet undecided depending on the reponse and the number of potential participants I will decide closer to the date.

Please reply below if you would like to attend and any suggestions/questions are most welcome.

As per sugestion there will be no pre-surging or pre fight spell reflect.

Ninogan Switfstep will referee and fraps the tournament if he is free for this date and also we now have 12 confirmed signups so the prize for the winner will be at least 240000 gold.

In order to give people more fighting and fun and in view of the likely low number of participants the rounds will also be best of 5.

Please note the date has been put back by one week to SATURDAY 6th AUGUST in order to accomodate the needs of a participant.

Spectators will now be allowed non-geared to watch the event for a fee of 8k plus a blank runestone.
Only those with a good reputation in DF or friends of participants will be allowed to attend.No idiots or riff raff.

Yeah Im gonna stick with best of 5 as there are only 14 competitors so it shouldnt really take that long and with a best of 5 there is more chance to come back and have more exciting matches I think.

Clearly unless you do very well in the tournament you wont be there for all that long.

That is the random draw for round 1.Rather than the traditional bracket I will do further random draws for the remaining rounds so if you win your first round you will not know who you will face until the draw for round 2 has been completed rather like a FA cup style competition.The matches will also take place in the order in which they are drawn meaning that Asgrim vs Natzi will be the opening match of the competition.

Lots of people always say that, i don't really see why. You can still do damage if you keep it up for a while on a full dragon guy, and specially drain his stam and stuff. You just can't kill him in a burst like you can with a hybrid; you gotta fight for a while, but it doesn't rule mages out i don't think.

Besides that, i think the only one in full dragon is probably gonna be Ginger.

Therefore 7 losers of the first round will be placed in the hat and 1 lucky loser will be drawn who will fight in round 2 to make it an even 8 competitors in round 2 and then it will be a simple process to the final.

Therefore if you lose in round 1 even though you will have lost your gearset you will still have a chance to get into round 2 by the lucky loser system.If any loser does not wish to go into the draw or does not have a second gearset then let me know.

I know this is not ideal buts its better than having 1 player get a free bye into the semifinal.

Yes but I tried to do it with that and its not possible to work it the way I wanted with random draws.Its all about seeds and following through from your original position.

Imo the random draw is a lot more unpredictable and gives the minnows more of a chance just like the FA cup itself.

Well we somehow managed without you, and did bo3 on 2nd round, but still not enough time, so personally i have to log off as i won't make it for round 3.

Hamburglar also had troble and so did mjollnir who got the free pass to 2nd round so i suggested Ginger to just postpone it for some other day, but up to him. If i get walked-over i don't mind, at least i got 2 gear bags :)

And I'm back. Keeping the PC off for quite awhile and it went away.. Early warning signal that my cpu (probably) is most likely going to die on me soon. How did it go? Did you finish or postpone it? Sad about missing it but the stuff I saw was great and there were some cool fights and funny moments (Mifun's mount spamming <3)

Most of these ringers bet on themselves hence where I get the info.

In any case there was no specific rule against it and it made for a more exciting and high standard tournament in the end.

Clearly the original players of these dwarves would have had no chance in the tourney anyway.

It was good, but it lasted forever. I don't agree with all the well known people playing other Dwarf characters - it was a Dwarf only torny for a reason.

All participants did really well. I look forward to watching Red Moon play at the next one, where he should be close to even with all the vets in character :sly:

There was a spectator from perkele who said he was taking some fraps as well so hopefully he will post something later as well.

A couple of the semifinal fights and one of my rounds with geben were exceptional fights so I hope we have footage of some of these.

Hugging a tree is fine, within the rules and an intelligent tactic given he's better at melee and the gear we were wearing. But I just decided to wait outside until he came out.

yeah, more for the prospect of future tournaments than this one. and some people might be lazier than that, but not all. scrubs on NA use higher quality enchants than allowed and begone away to chaos banks to avoid dying, I'm sure there are a few who pre-pre surge.
