I recently bought the Baldurs Gate compilation (4-1) which includes BG1 + ToSC and BG2 + ToB. However, when I installed BG1, I got this (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/835/45249526.png/) error message. After some googling, I found out all I needed was download the International patch. I then downloaded it from fileplanet, and when that failed to resolve the issue, I used one linked from the BioWare forums, which didn't fix things either. Knowing that Forumfall is a veritable cesspit of information, especially when it comes to good games, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions?

When I install the patches it looks like it installs the patch, but the problem persists.

I'm running Windows 7, but that doesn't seem to be the problem.

Did you install it in compatability mode?

Nope, may try that, but once again, that doesn't seem to be the problem - it's some patch that makes it US/Canada only, but a UK/International patch should sort it.

Not sure about this since I haven't played BG for years, but I can recommend buying old games from gog.com since they've made sure they work on newer systems.

This. Search for the pirate version of gog if nothing else helps.

Did you get the error while installing or when running it after the installation? If it's the latter, you might be able to install Baldur's Gate tutu and get it to run. EasyTutu is the best way to go, details/instructions here: http://www.usoutpost31.com/easytutu/

Even if you get your issue fixed without it, Tutu is amazing. It basically converts BG1 for use on the BG2 engine and rolls both games and their expansion into one long adventure rather than two separate games.

It would have been after, and Tutu will most definitely not work.

Wow, people pirate 4 dollar games from a nice small company?

I got it while running it after installation. I saw Tutu apparently is a solution, but the funny thing is that now when I closed my browser I got a shit ton of install screens for the patch up. I had similar things happen during the installation, maybe it'll work in a bit.
