I'm looking for some nice DF renders from the screenshots and/or concept art that's been posted so far. Just basic things like Mahirim or ships cut out.
We all render various figures for DF sigs and/or wallpaper etc., maybe this thread can serve as a place to nab a render without having to re-cut it out.
Maybe I'm not the only person confused by what you mean.

He wants some people to sit and cut loads of characters/monsters out for him and post them here so he and others can have it easier?

A render is a cut out for an image, like planetrenders.net.
I see a lot of renders in the signatures of these forums, and I think it would help people that want to make sigs faster if they didn't have to render something that's been rendered a 100 different times by other people =/
Likewise, nice render Spinewire.

You could have the renders from my lazily contrived and only mildly amusing sig, but I have reformatted my HD like 4 times since I made them.

Its not a bad idea, BUT, who wants to go to the trouble of storing all those images if they're not needed at any one time ? I prefer to edit the renders as I need them, and I have a large number stored on my own PC which I'm not going to open to the public for obvious reasons.
Also , in terms of taking the time to redo those renders, who wants to volunteer for that, or uploading them to a storage site like Photobucket?

You got a good point Bensidhe.
I think I may open a public photobucket account and compile the renders.
Actually, I don't think it'd be much of an issue of somebody else wanted the password to the render account to upload their own renders. As long as they aren't a dipshit and vandalize everything it could work.

This is the best idea the Art Forum has seen since the requestasig thread. Fuck you assholes for not being bandwagoneers! I'll go cut some shit out of screenshots tomorrow after I sober up. I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to have a picture of this kind of shit already pre-cut-out... and I wind up cutting it out myself, but then I don't even save it.
Shit fucking balls.

If you have some renders, please send them to me in private message, or post them here. I'll be updating the account regularly.
Please save them in .png.
If you have a shitload of renders and are a trustworthy fellow (aka you won't blow-up the account), then I'll go ahead and send you the bucket password (Please PM for PW).
On another note, feel free to discuss rendering techniques here.

Why the fuck do you call it renders though? I mean it's not like we're rendering anything. And it's not like these are "rendered" pictures is it? Or do you mean it like "I DEMAND PIKCHURS!" and so, in turn, I render them unto you?

To be completely honest, I have no idea why it's called a render. In photoshop terms though, when you cut an image out of another image, it's called "rendering an image," and the cutout is called a "render."

Clone tool 4tw! That filter is a lifesaver, swear to god.It rules for photo retouching.
btw, ever notice how weird the Mahirm stance is? I'd think that the balance on Mahirim when they're upright, and their agility would go wayyyyyyy down. Something to keep in mind.

Clone tool? You've gotta be shitting me, look at the non-grass area I had to work with, there's practically nothing! I drew most of it by hand.

I guess it's almost like when I cut up fat people and render them down for tallow to make soap. . .

Rendering in Modeling(3dsm, maya, ect) Means. Making a Picture out of your Models... Or taking a picture..
BoomerSL
10-24-2006, 04:44 AM
Render means to artistically depict or replicate something. In essence, it's a fancy word for draw and/or paint.

Number 7 on the second list. You got to scroll a little,
Computer Science. To convert (graphics) from a file into visual form, as on a video display.
Also there is rendering in art, like when you draw a picture, you are rendering because you are giving form and depth to a drawing.

Why do they call them "Corn Flakes"? Corn doesn't have flakes, let alone dried out wafers of grain that resemble wood chips.

10,000 years ago there walked a giant. He roamed the open lands of this continent. He was known as Quakaala Kolmazai, or in English the Thundering Corn Giant. Every spring it would shed its husk, it would use large boulders to scrape off its winter corn coat, and these areas would be a bounty of corn flakes. For the people of the plains, this marked the beginning of Spring, a time of plenty.
