It's time for yet another one of the Darkfall Tournament's! The last tournament was a incredibly fun, successful and exciting 1vs1 melee/archery tournament that Aventurine decided to be sponsor as well as my own sponsor Zowie. I thank both of them for helping me do a great event.
This tournament is going to be a 2vs2 tournament!

Entrance fee is 20k. This can be paid on the tournament date.

Rules:

Any gear allowed
1 mount per player allowed (battlehorn is allowed). One player can however use his friends battlehorn but since he is only allowed to carry one his friend has to spawn it for him during the fight. You can not restock mounts during the fights but you can pick up your enemies mounts or your own should they be left standing on the battlefield after a round. Any mount you pickup from the enemy team you’re allowed to keep in your inventory together with your own mount should you still have it.
No pre-surges or pre-reflect-.

You don't have to be in the same guild to participate together.

Only self-buffs

During the fight you are allowed to heal your partner with such spells as heal other, sacrifice, lay on hands and lend mana. If your partner die you can't ressurect him.

It is of course like any DT event full loot when you have won atleast two times against your opponent (best out of 3).

If you choose to participate but have to cancel please let me know as soon as possible. If you cancel just an hour or two before it starts or if you just never show up you will most likely be banned from the next tournament. Cancellations really messes things up so hopefully we won't have to many.

Please explain how you're thinking here. Any pre-surges is disqualification and even if someone slips past with a pre-surge he will get it for one round during the entire tourny since he wont be able to get it surging again. What do you suggest? Or are you just complaining even though you probably wont participate?

Spectators will be in. I'm doubting heavily that there will even be half the number this time.

Thanks for bringing up that second thing. Healing your partner should of course be allowed during the fight since that adds a nice element of skill to it. Buffing each other during the fight with haste or retarded iron skins and stuff? Nah.

best out of 3? that's ridiculous. good job with a 3 days tournament. a 32 teams 2 v2 tournament(30 showed up I think) was held last week by Cbay. It took us well over 2 hours for the 31 fights. while having 2 different 'arenas' to have fights go faster. You're doing the same but X3? it's going to take you a good 6 hours.
a tournament with entree fee doesnt feel right either. make it full loot but free to participate and then you will have more then just the 10 rich guys on the server that are actually good at pvp to participate.

The 1v1 tournament had like what? 60-70 signups and it was finished in like 8 hours i think. 3-4 arena's.

Since everyone know witch teams are going to win so why throw away 20K and a your best set, no point at all.


Make different leagues.

For e.g the Noob League, the Runner up League and the Elite League.


You have ran 5 tournaments now? You should have a pretty good sense of where the teams shall be placed, if not just ask for their char skills.


This way the tournament will be so much funnier and for everyone.

On a more serious note though: this. It's not only about winning you know. Fusion is indeed right he could have gone with someone better than me. He could have gone with Xzy as someone mentioned and that would have been a better team probably.

We decided to play together. I love pvp'ing with fusion and I feel after several months of playing together I understand how he plays well so I think we can be a beastly team but will we win this thing? That's far from a sure thing.

Organizing different leagues takes time and I'd rather do it on the same day but that gets hard. I will make a few tournaments now in the future for pvpers that feel like they don't wanna have to go against the top pvpers.

In these tournaments me and lillis try to seed it in a way that it the first couple of fights or atleast the first one is fun for as many people as is possible. What I mean by this is that we try to avoid having a scrub face a pro player and let as close to everyone as we can get a fair chance to win his first fight.

If people choose not to participate because they know they won't win the whole thing then that's fairly understandable I guess but I also think it's pretty sad. I went into the last tournament (1vs1 melee/archery) in a full q5 dragon set with full q5 weapons (hellraiser and all that jazz) and I had no hopes of winning it. I won my first two fights and from Rethel Helmgart I got insane stuff he had dragon and q5 stuff as well. It was worth it, I had fun and I don't regret it.

I will be gearing up the same way and if I loose it then atleast I had fun. I went out today for Orolts event in a full dragon Q5 set with another q5 hellraiser. I lost it to the SUN zerg that came in and 1vs8'd me or some shit (I was the only one left at the time from my side). I had a good day and I got to put that set to good use throughout the time I had it in several duels and fights and I'm not even sweating loosing it even though I know I'll have to spend weeks getting another one.

Try to enjoy the fight more than focusing blindly on the actual prize/victory/e-peen chance and or possible loss of precious pixels.

That's all I have to say about that I think..

Im going to be in the tournament regardless what happens as long as my team beats another team I think we made a profit and we had fun.

But knowing you have an actually chance of winning the tournament makes it so much more exciting.

Whilst I do like these tournaments there are very few chances for lesser skilled clans or teams to compete.

Dunno about Evaner/Orolt, I think both are scrubs since I've fought both but yeah.

I can tell you right now what people really don't like about this tournament: the fact that they're going to lose their gear. You can blame their weak self confidence or whatever, but whatever you do, they're still certain that if they sign up and fight - they are going to lose eventually. And if they lose, this means their precious gear goes to hell. Alternatively they can fight with shit gear, but that won't get them far either, and isn't that interesting either.
For me personally, if I go in and lose, I'm loosing several weeks of my casual gaming. I don't like that. If there's a reason I'm considering signing up for this, it is - as someone already said - the opportunity to fight and watch some of the best PvPers in EU-1.
Don't get me wrong, I've lost enough gear in this game to not care about it anymore, but I still find predeterment PvP to be a silly way to lose your gear. If I had a say on this I would make it like Evanar's tourney back before CtS - 2 out 3, but you can keep your gear afterwards. Good clean PvP for the sake of PvP, instead of phat lewtz. You can argue that the loot is making this a more lucrative deal, but for me it's just a nice bonus if I'm lucky enough to get a few fights against people I can defeat. I'm way more interested in the process of fighting itself, instead of grabbing my opponents gear.

Yes, the entry fee should definitly be there, and I like that it's big, cause it keeps scum out. But the loot part is just bringing chaos in an otherwise orginized event. There's full loot everywhere else in the game, the idea of a tournament is that it brings people to fight eachother at their maximum capacity, with their best gear. There's bound to be few that are going to back out or fight with crap gear, simply because they know they are going to lose. I'm not saying that's right or wrong, it's just how people are.

Gear limitation, no entrance fee and stuff like that can be added of course if the interest as it is is to low but should give it a few more days imo.

Maybe EU-1 is just less hardcore pvp than NA-1.

I guess a gear limitation would attract more players, some are scared to fight "famous" names even tho they could possibly have a chance to take em, i'm sure some others won't even bother knowing most of us will be in full Dragon.
Infernal for example is quite easy to obtain and i doubt 50k worth of armor and another 50k in r60 weapons and q3/4 enchants are a big loss to anyone who would consider joining. Just my point of view.

and last... the point of this events is not epeen or anything is just to be able to play with or against the best people in the server and check your own playerskill and teamplay while having some fun...but some people is just too carebear to throw any decent gear and pay a 20k fee that can be farmed in 1 hour quite easy... in this kind of tourneys LOT of people should show up to just try their best and have some laughs...because there is plenty of people that are quite good in team fights but they have no confidence in themselves...

Hi. gtfo. These are basically the same rules as the earlier 1vs1 I did which was sponsored by aventurine, sponosored by Zowie, had 2 million gold in the prize pot and the biggest participant tournout any tournament has ever seen on both EU-1 and NA-1.

It worked in the past. If it doesn't work now I guess EU-1 has become as carebear as you guys and then I guess we have to become like you to do these tournys but for now let's give EU-1 a few days to show that they are up for some proper non casual / carebear tournaments.

I didn't say that for me, I can easily farm for it, I'm still paying magic so I wouldn't use more that 1 piece of dragon anyway, but in people mind, it's hard enough to compete with the bests players, so if they even have lower gear, they won't show up...

sorry I can only play about 2 hours per day so no, using that will be a no-no. I'd rather sell it, make some cash so I can actually do something fun during those 2 hours instead of losing that epic gear in 2 mins @ teh tournament. And yes, im not coinfident. :)

If there's any reason for me to back out from this tourney (gotta sign up first tho), it will be losing my precious epics. Last time I backed out (from the tourney that was like 4 months ago) it was because I had a bunch of duels with Jens in a set that took me 1.5 weeks to gather up for the tournament specifically. He practically raped me and I figured that if he can rape me, most people on the tourney would as well. I then realized that there is no point for me to go and simply donate 1.5 weeks of my life for something I can go and do anytime I want - die in pvp (especially now when the server has reactivated populationwise).
Losing gear is easy, anyone can do it. And I've lost my fair share of expensive shit, I don't mind losing any, I just don't like going somewhere with the full knowledge I'll lose it. For me the question is is it worth it to lose (and I know I'm gonna get raped eventually) the expensive shit I'm gathering up now only to see EU's best players showing their maximum. If I knew I can hold on to my gear if I lose, there woudn't have been a question like that.

Having a gear limit would be something we can discuss about, removing loot on the other hand would just make the tournament pointless.
Speed sure has a point, i also always roll in Infernal therefore switch to Dragon for sieges or duels/events and to be honest 20k and an Infernal set is more than enough to partecipate, so people should spend some hours farming, grow some balls and sign in regardless the fact they might not win.

We've already gotten people saying they don't want it amongst the participants and as someone else said it's not hard just running behind something at the start of the fight to buff each other. One one hand, 20k each can be farm in 1 hour, so it's not a lot, and it's supposed to be ridiculous compared to the gear, but on the other hand, maybe people prefer to spend these 20k in their gear instead of pure gold for the winner.
Gold as reward isn't necessarly needed anyway, the winner should be satisfy with all the gear he got from his opponents (except for zagenda ofc, cause all they got is their mate gear :p)

NA1 wasn't NEARLY as epic as you guys think it was. 30 or so teams, 10 or so teams wearing good gear, and then 20 teams going in robes wasting time. Keep it the way it is. ;). Buy ins are required, you get people that come just to watch.

also no buff others plz, i cba to fight ironskinned dragon people with archery that's just retarded, im not beyond/xzyzz/krank who spent their 10 months grinding 24-7 and coming out of the shadows to pvp with a carried char, altho beyond was one of the only RN to have any skill despite his getting shat on by helba (who doesnt play in the melee-archery days wat) I seriously detest how many ppl sucked off helba, ky ky, shuyin and RH because RH were alright and still are, but shuyin was average (well 'good' compared to the other RN and helba/ky ky were shit, same with haeso1 legaude, i mean the guy had like 70+ more hp than me ages ago and i won with melee-archery on asura and not only that but i beat helba in duels and ky ky/shuyin nearly lost to me and sean dillon when we had 0 ss vs 100+ and polearm mastery lal.
