My "I love darkfall" contest entry: The Ambush.

Short story : Ork and alfar wait in hiding till a mahirim comes along to grab the chaos chest and gets surprised by the other 2. While trying to run away (which rarely ever works in DF) he gets nailed by an impale and is about to be finished off by another spell, so the ork can go gank/loot.

Software used : Photoshop, Topogun, Cinema4d , Zbrush 3.5R3
All models are 3d (and the rock the alfar is standing on) Rest is Matte painting and compositing. I went for a paintery look .

I like the art, but i dont really like the chaos chest. I think it would look fine with the alfar/ork killing the mahirim w/o the chaos chest.

Think the picture is to static.
Would have looked alot better if the ork was in movement (or looked that way atleast)
Dont see the point in the chaos chest, but other then that it looks pretty cool.

I think the chaos chest adds story to it, which is cool.

If I have some time i may work some more on it and make the poses more dynamic, like the orc waving the axe above his head.

But with that statue video being a 99% sure winner, I'm not sure i'm gonna spend more time on this. I have one little side art project running at the moment for a signature, but that's about it.

Also, I think that Alfar is really tall compared to those in game but that's a minor issue.

the statue is big, but its pretty bad, its not the DF dragon, doesnt resemble it in the slightest, wasnt done by the guy entering it (only part) the guy doesnt even have an active DF sub (why the fuck should we have someone win who is clearly only entering for the moeny and doesnt play the game?)

I also think the dragon was done for some other reason, and the darkfall contest was simply something they could use it for (as gravey)...there are so many reasons why thats a fishy entry its insane, i made a propper post on the thread...

not too bad ... but ork should be bigger than alfar ... and the axe, ffs, that shud be MUCH bigger! :P
