Proofreading the update would be a good start:
...Krush of Darkfall Information website posted some images of this ilk a little while back, so if you happened to miss those, take a look at them here.
As for our batch, here are a couple of samples! Click the 'Read More' link for the full range!
What kind of lower end video card was it, is that known? Those don't look to bad at all though, not at all.

These "lower grade" screenshots look better than some of the screenshots from the past.
The males face in the first screenshot looks good. Plenty of detail imo.

Lighthouse FTW!
I cant wait for some crazy high lvl mage to lock himself in one and chunk fireballs at anyone passing close by.
Also the charicters getting all bloody will be something I look forward to alot, I'm tired of all these pristene corpses. Looks like a hollywood batlefield on most MMO's everyones all perfect just either dead or alive.

That view range is snazzarific! :D
Seriously I was slightly worried that it might not show off the large world as well without enough distance. But the third and fourth shots look brilliant, especially the lighthouse, how awesome is that!? :ninja:
Looking forwards to the return to normal though next week.
Nice screens, looks like they fixed the red triangle blood thing. I'm a little disappointed though, there's more health bars. :(

Wow the screenshots continue to impress. :D
The general UI still seems to be very minimal. As in; a good way and not taking up too much of the screen while looking damn good in the process.
Although I'd guess with the high emphasis on tracking people,it'd only be logical.
Looking forward to the informational update. :D

After driving a train for 12 hours it's nice to come home to an ice cold beer and Darkfall updates. Also nice to know it looks good on a low grade video card since im building a budget pc for my wife to play on.

Nice screens. Still looks pretty damn good for being low end, though I find it funny that the blood looks better on "low end" then it does with their normal screenies...unless they fixed it. Viewing distance is great, and the grass isn't flat, so people can't debuff their gfx to try and gain a visual "advantage". Whats with the name and health bar above the horse though? Thought that wasn't going to be in the game.

Its weird, cause if you look at the taskbar, it seems like its turned to the 7th tab. Its like they don't want to show the icons of the skills.
Also, at the bottom of the bar, there seems to be a distinct slot, that's separated from the others. It could be the currently active skill, the one you're gonna use when you click, and if its that, then I suppose it confirms the rumours about the combat system.

Even though those shots were taken on a low end video card, the still look really good.
The dragon armor is definetly on my "must have items" list. I wonder if you need dragon scales to make it or if its called dragon armor simply because of its design. I really hope its the later, because I really want to deck my pure warrior out in a full suit of that and to sell it with my smith too.
Its screen shots like this that make me hope that the devs make the view mode manually toggleable. I really would like to be able to play entirely in third person view.

I believe that the devs said that you could kill someones mount while they are on it. I think thats what the horses health bar is there for, so you can attack your opponent's mount and kill it in an attempt to dismount them.

The screens show that a low end card can still display decent graphics on the engine, but what I really want to see, is the FPS in a decent sized fight.
As we all know, previous and current MMO's grind to a halt once you start scaling up the number of players in an area, or in battle.
SWG for example, neither the servers, or the graphics engine, could handle more than about 10v10 in an area, wow on an Athlon 64 3700 with 25Mb 6800GS and 1Gig ram, you're looking at 6-8fps in some 40man content (at best).
I'd kill for some video footage of say, 20v20 on an average system, with the fps shown :)
However, keep the screens coming :)

A TPV shoulder cam is very similar to FPV. The aiming thingy (name escapes me) can still be in the middle of the screen and used to aim spells and fire arrows.
In the end, I think the FPV will be dropped for a restrictive TPV option.

Yeah, as long as the the camera works about the same, TPV will likely become more popular. Especially for the lady characters. ;) Here's to hoping Kehmesis is right.
Edit: Oh, and it's a crosshair.

TPV ranged combat is not very similiar to FPV, especially when placed at distance in the screenshots. Your crosshair operates off a hinged axis at your character's location on the screen.
Have you ever played a TPV shooter? Or even a polished TPV shooter like Heretic 2? And you still feel that is similiar to Quake, Unreal, CS, Oblivion, etc FPV? Do you get the same or similiar accuracy results?
The Halo 1 development team even scrapped TPV combat(various ranged combat types) for FPV combat because TPV was so ineffective.

I prefer TPV as well, but the fact that I'll have to use a melee weapon to run around to have a better view of my suroundings, and then sheath(?) it to go into FPV and cast a spell sucks.
I have played a few games that used a crosshair (thanks I had forgotten the term) and it played pretty well. Like hmmm Jedi Knights? But I'll take your words for it, I'm not really into FPS's. The only FPS I actively played is Counter Strike, Doom and Wolf Einstein 3D.
I really have a hard time accepting the melee TPV. If it makes for better combat experience, I'm all for it, but, like I said, it'll make casters run around with melee weapons.
I still think that if the TPV is locked on a shoulder view and it is impossible to move the camera around your character, it would play in a very similar to a FPS. You could still have the option of going into FPV with a stroke of a key, after all.
The real problem is the advantage of holding a melee weapon.

I want to be able to toggle between FPV and TPV. when i am out in the wilds mining third person view is what i want to use and if/when attacked i want to be able to switch the first persn view.
The pictures are looking ok...alot better then the ones seen in the past but...
give a little depth to the colors. the metal armor is way to white/bright. Give them a little darker tint....IN COLOR not more black.
The guy in the lighthouse picture looks great. The guys in the left column are way to bright. I know that real life armor was shiny but this is a game. give some color to the armors.
Here is a great sight to see how the sun (well accually indoor lighting) plays on armor.

I believe they are making armor so shiny so you can spot heavily armored enemies. There are no floating names and you aren’t running around in huge colorful foam suits like in WoW, you need some way to spot enemies.

I think you might just have a personal preference for FPV, because to me a crosshair is a crosshair. I feel no difference and I don't need luck to hit things in either TPV or FPV in the two games I mentioned (savage and mount and blade). The arrow/bullet/spell goes where you aim, not taking into account ( wind, arc, and leading your opponent, etc.) If it doesn't the controls are messed up. Plus with the camera behind you you can logicly see more of the field around you, its a small amount, but it's there.
I wish it was all TPV or all FPV, but with the switching already I think they should just make it toggleable because I really dont get it when someone says "omg youll never hit anything in TPV range it sux!" Ok then turn your screen to FPV and I'll stay in TPV and we can all kill each other in peace. Some people just prefer it over FPV.
And about the new images... NICE! So next update is individual beta sign-ups right? :D

Do you mean you want to play TPV for spellcasting and archery also? How do you plan on killing anything or anyone with ranged attacks in TPV with manual aiming?
Well, unlike you, I can aim my spell and bow no matter what view mode im in. I still get my cross hair and I can still aim. I really dont need first person to aim my shots. I am just as capable of precision aming in third person. I've played third person shooter games (Star Wars Battle Front ring any bells?) and I have found that aiming in third person is no different than aiming in first person. Just because you believe first person to be superior for aiming doesnt make it so. Its all up to the skill of the player.
I do not believe that players should be "forced" into any view mode that they are not comfortable with. A game that can appeal to player perference is a game that is destined for success.

TPV ranged combat is not very similiar to FPV, especially when placed at distance in the screenshots. Your crosshair operates off a hinged axis at your character's location on the screen.
It all rests on the skills of the player. You might be surprised at how many people in third person may end up being better ranged attackers than those in first person.
Have you ever played a TPV shooter? Or even a polished TPV shooter like Heretic 2? And you still feel that is similiar to Quake, Unreal, CS, Oblivion, etc FPV? Do you get the same or similiar accuracy results?
I have, Star Wars Battle Front 2. Ive played it in both thrid person and first and found both view modes to be equal in acuracy.
The Halo 1 development team even scrapped TPV combat(various ranged combat types) for FPV combat because TPV was so ineffective.
And halo also doesnt have Melee combat at the scale darkfall will. Switching between melee combat and spell casting will be a key part of combat in Darkfall. Having to constantly switch between first and third person to cast and melee will be confusing and a general headach for many players. Allowing players to remain in one view mode, if they so choose, is the best course of action as it accomodates different players perferences when it comes to how they operate during PvP.

Do any of your games have physics involved? Because I would find it hard to arc a bow from a TPV stand point.

Good luck killing anything quickly or accurately with that TPV casting/archery then.TPV and FPV same thing when it comes to aiming, same crosshair in the same position and ur bullet/arrow/spell will go to the place where u aimed ur crosshair. TPV allows many things, like check out the range between u and the target, ur surroundings, etc. I dont mind having TPV only as long as i have that crosshair.
BTW really nice screenshots, graphics looking realistic, oh and nice view of the coast there wit the lighthouse.

Personally I'd rather use FPV over TPV simply because I don't my character semi-blocking the shot. (I know they go part transparent but it's still distracting)
If anything, melee should be over-shoulder TPV, it lets you know how far your character is from contact but also keeps your viewrange close to what it would be in FPV (less is better), and it would feel less clumsy in combat.

I know i'll get flamed now but...WoW has a great way of switching between first and third person view. Just use the mouse wheel.
I wonder if there will be a spell like "eye of the eagle". A zoom in view for scouting and shooting/casting of spells.

Thats right, YOU would have problem doing something like that. You can only speak for yourself and your own inability to use Third person effectively. Just because you wouldnt be able to aim in third person doesnt mean others would share the same misfortune.
However, if the view mode were toggleable, then there wouldnt be a problem. You could aim in first person and I could use third person view. A toggleable view mode appeases both sides and makes the game better.

Mount & Blade has the type of controls most people are talking about when they mention TPV and physics with arrow shooting. I don't think he was 'attacking' your opinion, you gave yours and he informed you that your opinion doesn't apply to everyone. Some people find it easier to aim in third person and just because you can't, physics or not, doesn't mean that other people also have this inability.
