stat gain through melee

Does anyone know if you will still gain stats from melee if you've already hit 100 mastery in the weapon your using?

I can't decide to keep going with the melee I've maxed out, or start a new one.. I kind of feel like I do with spells that are at surging level.. why burn the regs if its already 100, when I could be burning them to raise another spell..

Any insight would be appreciated.

I would just pick another weapon, unless of course you need that maxed out skill to kill whatever you are killing. Might as well get a secondary skill up in case they make changes and you want a different weapon anyways.

Well you don't really get 100 in a skill forever you see... it always resets to 99.90 after surge so u keep gaining skills and stats :D

This is true for the regular weapon skill, but mastery stays at 100. I think I will follow SEOINAGE's advice.. good idea to have multiple options.

Yes your stats will continue to rise even while doing a skill you have already gotten to 100.

If that were not true, all the newer people who enjoy 6x skill gain would be severely disadvantaged because they would hit 100 in their skills faster and end up with much lower overall stats than people who took their skills to 100 before the skill gain increase.

So short answer: stat gains are not linked to skill gains (AFAIK)
