Greetings and welcome to the second official Crossbones recruitment thread in Darkfall. After many long months of trolling these boards and getting a feel for the community, we have finally decided to put our mark in this world. For those of you interested in learning more about us and even joining this is the place to be.
What is Crossbones?
Crossbones is an online gaming community dedicated to providing a fun, safe role-playing environment for hardcore and casual gamers alike. We stress guild activity in our forums more so than in game in order to develop a strong sense of kinship and loyalty that will last longer than your typical MMO shelf life.
What race(s) are you guys?
Currently we accept only Human and Mirdain. Later this may be expanded to include Dwarves.
Are you guys pirates, or what?
No. Crossbones is not dedicated to piracy or privateering, although some members may engage in those activities.
Then what’s up with the name Crossbones?
When we were formed back in August 2001 we were pirates. Our founder Zey Akii created a rich back-story of a fallen kingdom in the Star Wars universe and how its remaining citizens resorted to piracy to strike back at the Empire. And so we began, a neutral/rebel-based Player Association in Star Wars Galaxies.
So what makes you guys so special?
You could start with our sense of community. Many of Crossbones’s current members have been with us for four or more years. Next you could look at our MMO playing experience. Since we began, Crossbones has participated in a wide variety of games, ranging from Star Wars Galaxies to Asheron’s Call 2, from City of Heroes to World of Warcraft. You could move on to our rich lore and history, refined over many games until it became the epic tale it is today. And you could finish off with our well thought-out and highly efficient government that boasts Crossbones’s unique Trial system, a process that gives every member an equal opportunity to work his or her way up to officer!
Are you a power-leveling guild?
No. We specifically pride ourselves in not requiring our members to sacrifice their livelihood for a mere pastime. While many hours of game play certainly improves your character and as a result our guild, we recognize that no game is worth ruining your life over.
Do I have to roleplay?
No, but we certainly encourage it. There will be situations and circumstances in any game where it can be difficult, or inappropriate to role-play. In addition, some people just seem to lack the creative ability that role-playing requires. Regardless, having a well-developed character and role-playing to the best of your ability certainly adds whole new dimensions to MMO's!
