For a DFO sig, I'd say the last one is 8/10 or so. The others don't really shout darkfall to me. Overall, I'd say the first one is too ambiguous, 5/10. Can't tell what's going on. The second one works nicely, it has some nice colour contrast. 7/10. I still like the last one most as a sig, although you can't really see the letter in it.

Good use of a firey colour to go with the dwarf, and the text placement is good. A bit bright for my screen.

About mine... I'm going to need an overhaul, Tossing the Smileys and the text, but that's pretty much the whole reason for the sig. Any suggestions on a theme of healer? Base material would be appreciated.

That's pretty damn good coming from someone that doesn't get the meaning behind it. I'd rather it's easy on the eyes for everyone else than for it to be blaringly annoying.

I guess then it's time to explain myself. The head was removed because... the guy looked odd. No, really, his eyes, etc... Just plain odd.

No border cause I can't make em. If you saw the last one I made, you'd agree that no border was a good choice.

The castletown in the background came with the character. That's Prontera, I believe... No, wait... No idea.

Miscoloured because of my theme. Starfrost.

Balls are meant to be round, so I'll agree with you there.

I gave myself a 6/10 before for following a meaningful theme and making sure that it wouldn't hurt people's eyes. I still need something better, though. I still have a sig request in the request thread.

I like the colour scheme and the font style used for the name. Its kinda creepy and it looks like thats the effect you were aiming for, but its lost a couple of points for being blurred and making it hard to read you name.
Remove the blur and use another clearer type of distortion and it would be an 8.5/10. :)


As for Pronkyou, I dont know what you mean by the guy looking wierd, im a old RO fan and I recognise the image as a monk from this image:

They're both very cool images and I used to use some of the artwork from RO in my sigs but its fairly well kown and I prefer to use unknown artwork.
I dont think there is anything particularly bad about your sig other than the head is missing and that the font could be clearer, maybe using a bolder font and in a more contrasting colour would be more impressive.
If you feel you cant achieve the right effect personally, ask in the request a sig topic. People are alays willing to help.

Meh, the background is blurred, by accident or not, but it adds more to the focus on the caster. The second part of fire(the orange part) seems out of place, as does the red text, you should grey it out to go with the goomy background. Decent cutout, whether you did it or not as well.

What's with all the low ratings? All I wanted is the grunge...It's been proven that I can do borders well enough already. Just need to work on text a bit, then shapes. Either way, half the people here still use Bevel/Emboss, that should automatically give you a low rating.

Name isn't exactly Stealth anywhere off these boards, hence the name in the signature. And I wanted it red, I'll play around with that part later. But good point. I did say it wasn't done though, pay more attention. Basic, color, text, additions. That's how I work I guess. There is way too much red, or at least too much contrast. If you look at it for a while it hurts your eyes. =)

Raccoon render is a pretty nice quality, and it's all nicely cut. No little misplaced specks on the edges. And of course, it's just funny to look at. I especialy appreciate how the edges of the flames coming out of the box aren't all rough and pixelated. That's usually what happens to my renders when I try to make them break the border. Personally I think the stroke around "Legion of Galadin" could be smaller, but it's no big deal.

Signatures generally have a point... the whole purpose of a signature is to make something very personal and very unique to YOU. And most people kind of expect that.

Your signature doesn't say anything except "Hello, I'm a chunk of red steel."

That's just boring and lame. It's a great, great texture... especially if you're new at photoshop, but why don't you try to expand on it a little? Use your current sig and add an "avatar" box to it, or add some kind of objects to personalize it.

This isn't your high school trapper keeper, so don't make it too gay... just do something with it besides "lol metal!"

Oi, as soon as I took time to think about it I thought you'd say that. I've noticed that too, but I can't really think of what to add to it without screwing it up. I've always been bad at that part of signatures. But I am new-ish, so I have an excuse. :D I don't like just plastering things on though, I was taught against that early on. I'll have to think about this. I definitely agree with the "Hello, I'm a chunk of red steel." part, and that just that render isn't enough, but what to add...what to add...

As much as I have a drive to make a good signature, I care much more about becoming experienced with Photoshop, so I try to make as many as I can for people and hope they're pleased, while continually remaking my own, most of time better, sometimes different entirely. The "too bright" thing is pretty common for LCD monitors especially, but all you have to do is set Photoshop to use your monitor's RGB profile. I can't see your name either. I think your signature has gone a turn for the worse since the first time I saw it. The more apparent things that I saw wrong with it in the beginning was the too heavy contrast, and the color red you used should have been toned down just a bit. At least at that point I could see the grunge and patterns you were trying to use. Now it seems like you've smudged it around and added a 'wind' layer or something and left it at that.

You should try to make something similar to what you had first, but apply more 'userfriendly' colors and less contrast. One smart thing is to try and apply one layer with more contrast than the rest to achieve depth, and make sure your name is at least somewhat readable as in your case it isn't the same as your forum handle. Your frame was/is good, it added something, yet didn't steal away attention from the rest of your signature. Imho frames should be simple, i'm fond of basicly just 'stroking' the signature with a 1px or 2px black frame - occationally I use 2px stroke overlayed, then adding 1px stroke normal around the 'finished' signature and that's it, so easy, yet looks ok. My point was, you did the frame well!

It's always easy to add too much to a signature. You want to make it the best signature ever, so you fiddle around with it too much, adding too much layers, colors or effects, and it ventures beyond tasteful and into the realm of the desperate. I'm not saying you did that with your signature though, It's just how I've experienced my own sigs at times. Now I rather do little things with the signatures and change around on them on quite a regular basis just to refresh, not putting every darn thing I know into the same one. Overall thing is that you're comfy with having it tied up to every single post you make. We choose to stick with these forum colors because they were good to the eyes, black, brown and grey, so yeah, the sig color bombs stand out, but I guess that's their wish. Many colors do work well with them so I don't complain.

Less pixelated render too. I like the atmosphere, I think Surly's monitor just has a bit of a dark gamma going right now. But it's a bit too dark like Con said.

For text, a nice plain font with a stroke always looks nice if it fits the style for some reason. And if you want, erase with the chalk brush on like 50-75 transparency for a bit of grunge. There are several things you can do with text. But some tips, never bevel and emboss or anything of the like. Drop shadow is fine, outer glow can be used well but usually looks bad.

Dunno if you're using CS2/any version of PS though.

Anyway, good atmosphere with the secondary color, brighten it up, try to do the text a little better. If you want any help I'll be glad to give you a hand or some tips.

Keep making these in private, play around with filters for about a week. Learn to get very desirable effects from them, and which to use when. The colors are good, but you could use some grunge/abstract where it gets too much contrast.

The background is good, but you shouldn't cut things like that out, just make it it's own layer, and set the style to something like soft light or screen. Put a black stroke around the text in Layers > Layer Styles, and try to erase parts of it to blend it in with something like the Chalk brush or something, go to your brushes, down arrow at right, load the dry media brushes.

Cutout is much better this time. I usually just get the eraser and use a decent sized circle, then use the diagonal portion to take out curves. You can uze fuzzy if you have you have to, and there's lots of times where you'll need to change the size, but it works well. No blizzard by the by.

Edit: Thoughts on mine? I managed to pull off a good grunge/scratch effect on this, with a nicely contrasted color. I think the filter I used on the archer may have been a bit off of matching...

I'm going to give it an 8/10 mostly for the reason why I like it as well.
That bit of an outburst around the skull is great, and makes it stand out some, but it doesn't exactly blend into the black. I like that, it just looks kind of odd.
I also notice you have two sections that are "cut out" makes my subconscious even more content. All in all, it's hawt. Gonna bump it up to an 8.5 just for being kickass.

That's the same grunge layer/s as well. I can see how you would just want to change the render or something, and it's the same border so I guess you did just want a new look; I'll let it slide.

7/10 for wizeguy. I really like the image, but text simultaneously melts into the background by being vaguely the same colour, and stand out with a weird floaty effect. Also, the text pushes too close to the mask and feels cluttered. What could really fix it, to a degree, would be to move the etxt slighly up and left, make it a slightly different colour, maybe a dark crismson with shaders where it mind blend. A shadow burn effect either for the text, or as a shadow for the text would add to the immersion.

My bad, the MacIntosh be my adopted clan, our family was adopted by a number of the larger clans and I find myself constantly at war with myself . One side the family are from the Highlands, 'tother side be the lowlands.:bang:
As for blending you can set the alpha transparency to different colors, so that some are more prominent or vice versa . I use "The Gimp" , free download , and PSP10 for other efx /borders, etc.

The FMA explosion dude is sweet, but the lack of a comma in the art where it should be makes my inner grammar Nazi awaken. Also, the centering failed and now it just looks weird.

The comma is there, the font is a retarded one with showing some punctuation.

And something is screwing up with my sig. Did they put in character limits or something? I've corrected it a few times now and it keeps showing up as broken.
