About the last two weeks I changed. Now A Wessex Man, from one side to the other so it seems.

I like the cartoony-ness of my sig, It differs from my other sigs Ive hand. Change in race, change in sig.

i'm still working on my Mahirim crest. as much as i like the idea, it just isn't translating the way i'm wanting it to. as you said, it simply doesn't fit, and i haven't been able to find the solution yet. i'll mess with it more later, i'm sure.

Im a sucker for assassin type stuff, the avatar in the sig looks like one. I like the whole setup of the signature pic. I dont like the very last line of your complete signature. I like the evil is absence quote. and the sword on the right reminds me of Death Race (movie)

Also can someone explain, why most of you create jpg instead of gif or png? I was having a discussion with a guildmate, he kept stating that gif is the most used for signatures (partly because of transparency). I told him that gif is shit quality and that if it is not neccesary (because of the same background color in each post) it is better to do jpg, and that that jpg is also the most used for signatures (atleast on these forums).

I've spent a lot of time optimizing the images for my clan website (http://www.crazy-canucks.com/) and I use different fprmats for different purposes. One of my big concerns on my site is bandwidth, as I host on a business cable connection with only 95gb/month, which sounds like a lot, but it really isn't. I've never come close to my cap, but going over just isn't an option, so I don't want to even come close. Beyond that, well optimized images load faster no matter how much bandwidth you have, so in my opinion, smaller is always better, as long as you can do it without sacrificing too much image quality.

For small, simple images, I use gifs. They can be optimized to load as few colours as the image requires, and are generally much smaller than any comparable format for the same size of image. I use jpegs for larger, more complex images that don't require a transparency, as they will take the least bandwidth, and you can configure the compression so that it doesn't degrade image quality much. The left header logo on my clan website is a jpeg. I think it looks great, and it is less than half the size of a comparable png file.

For large complex images that require a transparency I use pngs. If you choose a map from the maps page of my clan's Natural Selection stats (http://www.crazy-canucks.com/page.php?url=http://www.crazy-canucks.com/stats/ns/) then click the heatmap link in the upper right corner, you will see that I have used a png file for the map overlay (the image of the map itself, not the heat signatures, although I believe that is png as well, but that wouldn't be my choice).

However, I avoid pngs as much as possible because the files tend to be much larger. My sig is a png because it is large, and it is a transparency. I'm also not hosting it, so I'm not as worried about bandwidth... ;)

This is based on my guess that that is an original sig that you drew yourself. If it isn't it is still cool, but knock two points off everything.

So overall, 8/10. I don't give high scores easily, so for me, that's a really good score. My only problem with it is contrast. I'm a big fan of sigs that are bold and easy on the eyes (by "easy on the eyes" I'm not referring to content, I'm referring to simplicity and clarity). Maybe because my eyes are getting old, but the lower fonts especially are a bit blurry, and the mahrim (spelling?) doesn't *pop* enough for me. It's a very strong image, and it needs to have strong contrast to support it, which it doesn't, or not enough.

It isn't really a matter of colour choice, it may just be a matter of making the background a bit lighter and making the blood red in the fonts and the claw marks a bit stronger. Not necessarily too much brighter, but just a bit bolder somehow, although simply lightening the background might be all that's required to make it *pop*.

Sorry, probably more of a critique than you were looking for, but I'm afraid it's one of those annoying things I love doing - analyzing and critiquing that is.

But anyway, if it is original artwork, huge kudos, I'm impressed. :)

As for my dragon, I chose it for the symbolism. I can't lay claim to the artwork though, all I did was cut and manipulate the image. Someday maybe I'll have the confidence to try something original.
