The Alfar ride drakes, which are - in essence - small wingless dragons.
Their bodies are covered in metallic black scales, and in shape Drakes resemble ordinary dragons, rather than Dark Dragons. Small stumps on the flanks indicate that drakes were able to fly not all that many generations ago, before they adapted to an underground existence.

i heard that the alfar they were riding spiders.. but i guess dragons are cooler.

also, you have to wonder how did they get dragons to be mounts. could Melek capture some and put them into a breeding process as he did with the alfar race..

I have to say that i'm very happy with all of the racial specific mounts. I really like the choice for the dwarves, complimented by the screenshot it looks like a proper tank, and a proper hauler:)

When it comes to the Mirdain, i instantly thought about the elves in World of Warcraft, But I'm not at all dissappointed, as long as these mounts can pull a wagon like the next one and its attacking abilities will be feared, claws and teeth, speed and agility. Should be good. I would have hoped for a silvery, or black colored one, but that seems like isn't a possibility, as they were so specific about the color of the Aerdin Cats. Why would the Mirdain be granted 'Snow' leopards? I didn't know we, as in the elves, had much territory covered in snow, but maybe this is the hint that we do.

I want to thank the devs for giving us this - this is news for those who have been around for a while as well.

Hm, possibly. Being able to mod your ride based on runes sounds like a fun possibility to further create a versatile and combat effective mount.

Yup, they seem like runes. The only problem I see in their selection of mounts, is that the mirdain cat and dwarven ox will be compared with WoW's cat and ram.

Also, the texture on that tree seems absolutely fabulous.

Now I'm just waiting to see the next peek of the week in IGN. Lets hope it won't take long.

Dont worry about your mount, just look at all screens you have seen until
today, this cat will never be similar with the wow cat. I really think it looks

i dont understand why it would have been so friggin hard to take a SS of each racial mount to accompany their description. Good info, but i just dont understand what they are trying to do with putting a SS of one racial mount out of four new mounts. Especially when they have openly expressed they want more people to become attracted to the game.

Sorry but no. If indeed Darkfall is everything they say it is people will be drawn into it by word of mouth like flies to sugar. If I where them I would not have even annouced the game in the first place. I would have waited till I was like 6 months away from beta before even reveiling even the name of the game. What has gone wrong here is that the first 4 devs talked too much and too early about the game. Can't blame them really, they were excited about it and wanted to share, but if they hadn't everything would be much better now. There is nothing NECESSARY to show. The only thing NECESSARY is to finish the game.

I was kinda under the impression that there would be other questions answered too. Also, the human mount is kind of a let down. I have seen horses irl that are taller then a human male, I would think the mythical war horses would be even larger.

Other then that, it was nice to get the info. I really was expecting just names for each race, that little detailed info was a pleasent surprise.

Who said WoW didn't steal the ram idea from Darkfall, afterall the norwegian devs already mentioned rams in 2001-2002 as dwarf mount aswell.

Games unfortunately don't sell by word of mouth Shaar, especially by the word of mouth of a poorly informed community. I love the prospect of this game, as i have stated before, but step back for a moment and take a look at the situation. This is a Video game. Even more its an MMO, meaning that not only do they have to SELL their video game, they have to have SUBSCRIBERS. I know Beta will bring alot of publicity, but they are relying solely on Beta to do this. The problem i have is that they are asking us to expand the community on word of mouth based on tidbits of info. I been awaiting the mount info for a long while and I'm ecstatic about it. Though ask yourself what are they accomplishing by showing half of the mounts?

sorry but animations shouldnt be a problem, at least for alfar and mirdain. Why? because drake and cat animations have been done for a LOOOONG time, cat in for of "Puma" and drake as the "Dark Dragon"... sure thier not the same but most of the animations they share will be.
