just found it as well, reading it now.
Wewt! a promise to answer racial mount question next week.
Their attack is less powerful than other mounted attacks, closer to the power of attack of the other mounts rather than the attack of the rider. If the Mahirim chooses to ride another racial mount, it can inflict normal rider damage. You're right about the lunging from all fours at the throat of an enemy by the way. The Mahirim uses a bite attack.
This interview was 10x better than the last. Clearing up the Mahirim mount situation was one of the questions i wanted to hear and the lunge attack is just cool!

"Q: Can you base a clan out of a ship such that when you die, you respawn on that ship?
A: No, you respawn at a clan stone. I think that there was a misconception about the 'putting your entire clan on a ship' capability. It was meant to signify the size of some ships, rather than their core function. Ships are combat platforms and means of transportation. Some of them are certainly large enough to load up your clan, but the clan members that get picked off, have missed the boat ;)"
Awesome. Being able to spawn in the ship would enable clans to effectively constantly spawn guys in an combat situation; and this gives piracy a bit more realism :)

Awwww!!! Well, at least I got my answer. Although as a follow up question I would ask whether or not you can bind a teleportation stone (assuming they are still in the game) to a ship.
Btw the screen look very nice. I like the fact that weather will make a stong visual impact.

Unless I'm reading the quote wrong, the developers are saying that you CAN NOT spawn in a ship. You can only spawn at your bind point, the clan stone. And those are on land.
Edit: I may have misunderstood you, actually. So nevermind.

Im curious as to the mention of defesnsive structures. Im thinking of like towers (kinda like what u see in the second SS), maybe mounted siege euipment on walls... who knows...
happy to see a new set of armor in the SS as well.

The fact that Mahirim don't have their own racial mount, but aren't banned from using other races' mounts is an example of sound thinking by the Devs as far as I'm concerned. Reaffirms my faith in their ability.

Edit: I may have misunderstood you, actually. So nevermind.
Yeah sorry it was confusing.
It is awesome that pirates CAN'T spawn on their ships. This way, they will only have a limited number of members onboard, which therefore makes piracy more realistic :)
I'm pretty sure that you won't be able to bind the respawn to the ships, because it would effectively be the same thing as simply being able to spawn to the ship the whole time. Plus, if the respawn was bound to the ship, and the ship was sunk... well... you get the picture. Your entire piracy ring (or clan, whatever), would be lost for eternity :).
Unless they could breathe underwater, that is.

Q: Will there be a limit of how many hired guards a city can have in its garrison, or can we buy as many as we can afford?
A: The way it works is that there's a limit on the number of guards per defensive structure. I'm forced to be vague here and let you speculate as to what that might mean, basically because we're not at liberty to discuss this in more depth yet. I'd give you a number of guards per defensive structure too, but that's something we're still testing.
Good news indeed.
I hope that this is also the case for characters. I never really liked the idea that a clanstone would have a set limit on bind spots. Rather, I always thought it would make more sense to set the limit of bind spots based upon how much player-housing you had. Not to mention the fact that this would actually (for the first time ever, except I guess the Sims Online...) make player housing an integral aspect of the gameplay.

I am assuming you mean the ability to recall/port bind stones (ie. Mark/Recall ala UO):
I am betting that 'recall' stones bind to a specific location (X,Y,Z coordinate on the map), so since your ship moves around, it would bind to that place the ship was last. Of course, bind points on various nearby islands wouldn't be bad.

I love how dark the second screen is. If the can make night/caves/dungeons that dark (and find a way to keep gamma adjustments of bypassing dark) that would be extremely cool. Actually need a light source, Alfar most likely not needing any...

Yeah, I figured that was probably the case also, still it seems likely that they would be able to get around this technicality via some good round-a-bout coding. So if they can actually get arond the technical issue, I'm still interested in whether they want to or not.

About the screenshots.
1) We know there is rain
2) We know that they still aren't showing races besides human and ork
3) The rain doesn't seem to be putting the fire out on the torches
4) Another warpig screenshot
5) Looks like we see a new (maybe two new) sets of armor for the ork. Or, at least, not the bone armor
On darkness of caves:
Lore says there will be handheld torches.

Although everyone is very anxious for DFO to come out as soon as possible, I'm relieved that they are taking their time to get it done right. I'd much rather wait a while for the game to be released and be awesome than have it be rushed to meet the demands of a strict parent company only looking for profits, much like nearly every MMO out right now, and end up being a flop.

The technical issue wouldn't be a problem, in regards to the (X,Y,Z) coordinate systems; it would take a mere one or two lines of code to simply call the current location of the ship to spawn there.
The problem is that if people are able to constantly spawn at a ship then battles/raids/etc would be a long, drawn out process, and there would be less consideration of dying. This way, by not being able to spawn on the ship, more tactics would be necessary in order to preserve the few lives that are on the ship (or however many people you can pack onto it).

Q: What are the developers doing about housing destruction? Will it be a simple task of just hitting the house with a sword for an hour or just throwing a torch at the roof and sitting back and watching it burn, or will houses only be able to be destroyed by siege engine?
A: We never thought it was a good idea beating down a structure with a dagger. Buildings can be destroyed by deploying and using one of the many different types of siege engines we've got in the game.
This, plus the new screen shots, has greatly increased my wanting to play this game. Im glad I asked this question.

I think it would be awesome to be able to destroy buildings with more options based on what kind it is (wood, stone, etc). For instance, if a cheap house has a straw or wood plank roof, then we should be able to light it afire :D

It leaves too much room for abuse of the system. Seige engine only housing destruction is balanced and still allows for destrction to take place without having the destruction run rampant.

You make it sound as if the other races cant defend themselves. If anything, the mahirim, while charging on all fours, will be more vulnerable to attack as they cannot parry or defend against incoming projectiles and spells and possbily melee attack.

Sigh, Think out of the Box..
Limited Vision, you cant see what is to the side or behind you ,,, Normal ambush tactics...
So now think of a pack of Mahirim, and we attack from the side , knocking most the mounted off there rides, sure some will survive, but we will jump on and ride off, leaving the mounts in a safe spot, RUN back at Mahirim speed, and renter the battle with Unmounted races... Easier said than done. What do you think, the mounted warriors will just stand there wating for you to knock them off their mounts? They will be ready for you and will be in defensive positions preparing for the attack. Also, they will be moving just as fast as you while on their mounts and will be attacking at full strength while mounted. And, mahirim probably wont be able to wear heavy armor and run on all fours and, therefore, the mahirim will be less protected by armor and more vulnerable to attack.

Well , we can but not well enuf to hit hardly anything ...

It is cool that next week they are going to tell us about the racial mounts. But what I really want to know is about the races themselves. I want to know their strengths and weaknesses, the things they are highly skilled and the things they suck at and their racial special abilities.
yes we all know dwarves are great at making weapons and armor and suck at magic but what about the rest of the races. I am sure that they know and after 5 years, alpha and most of internal beta that they are set (may need tweeking but that is what beta is for). I would just like to know more and I dont think that I am alone.

I loved the screenshots. I noticed that the characters/mount don't count as a physical object in relation to the rain just yet - what I mean is that I don't see the rain impact/splash on them - thats just a minor detail of course, but I love that the rain can be so dense, and maybe even rougher and worse than shown on these pictures. Makes me think of the weather map and so forth. Just bring the weather on, and let it influence gameplay! :)

Hey. Good Q&A there, very nice work.
Though I appreciate the infos, we received, the answers raised two questions for me:
Is there any note on whats happening with stuff that is stored within a house (e.g. armor, weapons, pink bunnies) ? Will it just be destroyed or can you just pick it up from the ashes of a house ?
What about the NPC Capitals ? Will I am be able to burn them to ashes too ? :D
Though I did not found anything in the older interviews about this, I might have just missed the info.

And Blackwatch don't blow up with hapiness now, you still gotta try it all out in-game :D

The disadvantage to the Mahrihm's speed and ability to move fast is offset by needing to use lighter armor, and no boots, gauntlets, or bows. Mahrihm are built to be first responders and gurellia warriors with little in the means of pure staying/siege power.
That is where Orks come in for our team, Mahrihm for speedy strikes, Orks for good ol' fashioned sieging and Ork dispensing.
My current biggest question is if Mahrihm will be able to fit in the Ork dispenser.

Better than last week. The lack of specific information is dissapointing, but thats just how it is I guess.

Much better than the last few. Good to hear about the mahirim mount situation. I also like how it seems that you must have baricks or gaurd houses to be able to field gaurds inyour city.
