Had a Linksys router for a few years, never had an issue with it. Worked perfect for gaming. It died the other night and I had to buy a new one. They had no Linksys at the store I went to, so I bought a Netgear wireless router.
Now my ping is higher and I get lag/rubber banding. Opened the ports suggested on the DF forums, which showed no improvement.

Anybody have a netgear router that has had simular issue? Help!!!!!

The router model is:
Netgear WGR614NA Wireless-G Router

Well maybe since u buy the new router, maybe you forget to put any kind of access key like Wep, WPA and maybe someone is downloading porn with your network :D

Nah, I have it secure and there is only a PC and an xbox connected to it.

to ensure that you're really not facing a port / portforwarding issue configure the router that your pc is in the DMZ. note it's not recommended to use as a daily setup but for analyzing your problem it's a good way to do so.

With DMZ all requests are directly passed to your pc you're no longer secured by the integrated firewall all ports are open it's like your pc is directly behind the modem as there would be no router in between.

try this out and let us know the results.

good luck , regards

Yes, did that already. Works great with the DMZ off. I've done all the basic, I'm looking to find something in the settings that maybe needs to be turned off.

It's a $50 router. Maybe I should just return it and get a $100 dollar one.

i was never able to get a stable connection on a wireless router. i dont know if your first one was wireless too, but it sucked playing games like battlefield and having guys in a chopper im piloting just to have the connection go out for a sec or 2 and crash the chopper. ofc people would rage.
