View Full Version : Players logging out before their timer expires

The last couple of days it has become painfully obvious certain clans know how to pull the plug while their timer is on and avoid a PK.

Imagine a player who is so full of wood that he is barely able to move. Inching towards the vault you perfectly knock him sideways over a wall separating him from his bank. As you jump over to attack him hes not frantically trying to burn part of his materials but staring off into space moments away from not being in the game.

Good on them doing that to bank campers like you, why shouldn't they do all that is possible to stop you easily getting their resources that took time to get? I say fuck people like you and good on the disconnects people doing what they do so people like you don't get their stuff, so cry more please! Or put your own time in to getting your own resources, not just easily taking it like a bully then whine when the victim has an escape route!

That's an odd response.

Anyhow, I also have people who complain of players, in the middle of a fight, who flicker and are suddenly logged out. A new hack I guess.

I mostly suggest AV implement a hackshield (but that's is so obvious, I presume they are already creating one).

Cheers

Anyone that cheats to get away from a potential killer is obviously cheating.

Possibility. The guy hits auto-run on the way towards the bank, but hits the quit button the moment he sees you.

Despite he quitted, his char will still move (sometimes) etc? Did the guy react in any way? Perhaps he quitted a while back?

Hackers should be perma-banned. And Darkfall would be a healthier game with less acceptance with abusers and exploiters.

There is a way to attack someone (person must be in a clan) in the starter city without getting killed by the towers.

Just make a clan and declare war on the clan (the target) and you can safely kill that person (whose clan you just declared war on).

Darkfall has huge a learning curve and its so full of potential exploits it's not funny

Did you even read the OP, or are you just saying random things that has nothing to do with this?

Ontopic: Yes, it's retarded.
It's the same with people perching mobs, they see you coming and logs out, usually before you were able to launch up to them and kill them.
Logging out should never be a viable escape tactic, neither should pulling your plug to lagg out in combat, it's just dumb.

Dickhead much? You might not know; this is a PvP full loot game.

that's not an exploit. That's game mechanics.

Where's the exploit in declaring war on and killing someone?

These kind of Hacks are old and gone on the EU Server.

You probably play on the US Server. Are you ? ;)

:lmao:

U can also just disconnect your char while moving, then your hitbox is where you last active location was. But your Model is maybe a few Meter more far away ;)

You cry about bank campers and yet you are not only too stupid to bank on a regular basis but to top it off, get yourself overloaded ( both your fault ) and then place the blame on someone else because of your own idiotic actions? I not only understand now why we have a nanny state and now understand why games like WoW are so popular. You need protection, from yourself. If it were not for this protection, natural selection would run its course.

My game has crashed at the goblin spawn a few times when the hardcore players comes shooting huge fireballs and stuff, could probably made an escape and survived if the game didn't crash on me. But when I start up the game again and get back in, im always dead, and you get a pm "lol noob, goback2wow, this is a hardcore game" , that's also funny, and it's back to the bank. These hardcore players sometimes use knockback on me in town.. get raped by a tower then scream in the public chat "REZ ME!" "RESS ME FFS" "IF YOU DONT RESS ME I'LL PUT YOU ON MY KOS-LIST" "RES ME I CAN SEE YOU!" "RES ME NOW"
Atleast some guy from some clan starting with two "D"s and it ends with an "i" or something has done that ;p

Not very comon, most are nice guys actually, sometimes they even regret killing me when they found out I was some months behind in the char development and they tell me all my loot is left on my corps.

But hey, thanks for the tip, I'll try that "unplug cable" next time my game crashes perhaps it will still work then :D

Pulling the plug leaves you in the world for 2 minutes, if anything this sound like a mix between a lag and a log out, dude lags so his char stays where it is on your screen but he's actually 40ft way and you are swinging at air even though you see him. Then he's gone in 30s before you figure out where he is.

If you ever see someone stopped mid stride start using stuff like fire wall back in the direction he was coming from. Or whirlwind, once you find him (you'll be swinging at nothing but hitting something) keep swinging and a grave will pop.

From what I understood he's talking about the invulnerable shield.
Someone recalls while overencumbered, walks slowly towards the bank, you knock them away from the bank perfectly and over a wall so he most likely wouldn't have made it to the bank before the shield was done, then the over-encumbered guy logs off while the shield protects him the entire time he's offline but still in the world.
Same case with people entering dungeons to cash in keys, if they enter and see a bunch of PK'ers standing in front of you, they can just log off safely.

Oh, and how is declaring WAR on someone in an NPC town to crafter-gank them an exploit?
It might be retarded, but it's not an exploit.

This situation happened 9x in a row yesterday. Member of blood zone into town and slowly make their swinebelly full chars to the bank. No matter how much time has passed when they see I am there to impede their progress they stop moving and disappear shortly after. This is a huge fucking exploit and it is really frustraiting a GM tells me this is a viable tactic. FUCK THAT.

livid .

viable tactic? lol

i don't think there is a magical way to log out and make your char dissapear, i call hax.

11-17-2009, 23:02
K I think they are talking about exploiting invuln shield, log in run for 1min then log out. you stay in world for 30s which means you have 30s padding on your 2min invuln. This is game mechanics and perfectly legit.

Logout -> insta disappear is not, that is what i was talking about and it does happen.

called unplugging your network cable.

I think he was talking about a client side application that monitored exactly what you are doing. Services running, Applications Running, etc.. Much like blizzard does.

Fixes:

After 30 seconds of missing communication between the server and the client (well under the 2 minutes the character has left in the world after logging or cable pulling) the invulnerable shield should be dropped. This will leave the character vulnerable to normal damage.

After declaring war against another clan, there should be a 5 minute window before alignment free combat can begin.

lanigav

Currently it works like this:

alt+f4 means you disappear in 30s, this does not break invuln shield

pull plug means you disappear in 2minutes (or more), this does not break invuln shield but it does mean you will be in world longer than your shield

Agree, wardec should not turn enemies orange for a couple of minutes or more.

thedrumchannell
11-17-2009, 23:45
alt+f4 means you disappear in 30s, this does not break invuln shield

So it should drop the invulnerability shield after doing an Alt+F4 or Quit.

Quit works better than unpluging because as another poster says, server thinks you are still in game if you unplug your cable versus hitting Quit which gives the server a definite sign you are leaving the game and server will act accordingly and not randomly if you just unplug a cable hopping that the server will notice fast enough. Also never underestimate shields because there is a chance that you can crawl your way back to safety if there is friendly company arriving soon or a tower near. Thank God for the damage cap which I hope AV won't remove.

It's all valid issues, no matter who posted them.
