Nine years...it's been nine years since that fateful day. The day the ruling families of Mercia, the Mirdain, Alfar and Dwarves were assasinated. Rumors say the spiritual leader of the Mahirim and the Warlord of the Orks met similar fates.
Some call that day Darkfall. What followed was a fall into darkness and chaos. The years that came after saw the noble families and leaders of every nation hunted down to extinction and hiding. For nine years now there has been blood and chaos unseen since the Giants ruled.
Scholars, ones that are brave enough to speak out, say that the trade guilds initiated the coups, but all know that the violence was embraced by the mercenary guilds beyond the intent of the trade guilds. Soon, with no nobility or rulers, all nations fell into anarchy, with the guilds fighting among each other and with any who oppose there “by the strength of steel” grip on the land.
Now Agon is no longer the home of vast Kingdoms spread across the continent and islands, but instead, petty city states that bicker and battle with their neighbors for the resources it takes to sustain their beast of war. The once grand cities of Mercia are deserted of only the bravest merchant willing to face the bloodshed to pettle their wares. Murders are rampant in the streets, evil creatures of bed time stories have risen up and grown brave in the chaos above their dark lairs, undead stir from their graves.
The bards of Ages past would no doubt say this is a time for Heroes...Agon groans her disagreement.
This is a dark time for Agon. The chaos and bloodshed will continue until no resources are left, until no breathing soul walks the land.
The year is DFR09 (Dark Fall Reckoning) and Agon is at War.
(more to follow)
