View Full Version : What should I upgrade on my PC??
I currently play Darkfall in 1900x1200 with all shadows off and all graphics turned down and I still notice my FPS goes down bigtime in medium to large scale fights. I'm after some feedback on useful upgrades I could make to my system below to dramatically improve my performance. Note I play Darkfall in full screen in windows XP (not upgraded via any service packs).

That's a pretty decent system to be honest. Try scaling down the resolution a little if that doesn't bother you much. It might improve quite a bit.

Thanks BF, I'll give that a go.

I can't really change my resolution without making my screen look retarded. I have a 24" widescreen and it appears none of the other resolutions offered in Darkfall cater to that apart from 1920x1200 :(

well if you have the bucks get a 295gtx you won't regret it. otherwise get a 285gtx or 275gtx these are really decent cards.

I own GTX285 and it delivers. Had no need for a dual 295 and SLI so it works well however I have 8gb of RAM which helps in Vista/Win7.
You proc and mobo are a good combo but that graphics card and RAM will hold you back some.
As to the 1920x1200 resolution.. I just started a few days ago and when I set the resolution in the launcher it promptly started the game fullscreen and at 1920x1200 resolution however the internal game setting was still at 1280x1024 and everything was overly large and distorted.
I had to set the ingame resolution to true 1920x1200 and then restart and everything is proportional and great screen estate.
Not sure it's the same thing but check Video Options at the bottom.

EDIT: Oops wrong thread sorry.
Awesome thanks guys, I will look into the 295 potentially as that seems top of the range.
OK I am thinking about buying the following in order to upgrade:
nVidia - Inno3D GF GTX 295 Overclocked PCI-E 2.0 1792MB DDR3 896-bit, 600/2160MHz.
Corsair TWIN2X4096-8500C5DF 4GB (2x XMS2 2GB) PC-8500 (1066MHz) DDR2 RAM
Windows 7
Do you think this is overkill??
