Hello everyone,

I've been having a minor but annoying bug regarding shadows, I remember having read it is an ATI issue(I have an ATI 4670) somewhere, but I want some confirmation.

The issue is the following.
it only seems to be happening when I have AF turned on, if I do what happens is that all shadows ingame have 2/3 'lines trough them that are not shadowed(and this appear very light and are hard to miss).

if my Description isnt clear enough ill go about uploading a screenshot, but I hope this will do for now.

anyone have this issue as well? or better yet, have a solution that doesnt require me to turn of AF(and thereby seriously degrading the game looks)

Thanks in advance

You got anti-aliasing off? Maybe enabling it can help a bit with it.

No, that's the opposite of what he stated. And it causes problems.

no, ive got the same prob, have since EU release, there's white lines that run concentric circles around your char at the point that textures and shadows become higher quality.

the setting is AF, not AA, that messes it up. Anisotropic Filtering on the texture resolution. turned this to anything but AF and the lines go away.

its been posted about before and submitted to devs by myself. seems there's many players out there with the same prob.

I have the exact same issue.
With both of my ATI cards. 4850 and 4870.

This is a well known issue with Darkfall and ATi cards. The workaround is to use a different texture filtering method.

Not really a workaround as it seriously degrades textures far away from your char using anything but af... no catalyst control fixes?

That's why I used the word workaround rather than fix.

Personally I just turn shadows off altogether because of this.

yea, it's either nice shadows or nice textures. kinda lame.

isnt that just zone seperation lines?

Yeah i get this glitch too, and it pisses me off cause this game looks so much nicer with proper shadows, i hope AV addresses this issue soon.

No. There's an unshadowed gap at every point where the shadows are reduced in resolution, at all times, everywhere.

this is a glaring issue w/darkfall + ATI cards, amazingly it hasn't been broached by the devs.

any filtering besides AF makes the game look like shit. turning AF off can NOT be considered a fix.

Agreed. I Suggest everyone that hasnt done so already to send a bugreport about this, maybe if enough people send one it might get some attention.

Any word on ATI 4xxx users NOT having this issue?

I'd like to hear if any 3xxx users experience this issue, Havent seen or heard of anyone with a Nvidia card that has this issue so far.

I wasn't talking about nvidia... ATI just came out w/the 5xxx series

I opened a ticlet about it several months ago and it is still open and unanswered.

I've seen multiple threads on this issue over the mnths and it seems to be exclusively ATI.

I wonder if it affects all ati users though. I reckon if that were the case wed see alot more of these threads. Ill try and see if modded drivers have any effect+ill be fooling around with the ccc.

Wouldnt call this bug gamebreaking, but its certainly damn annoying and should get some attention

Bump

I'm experiencing the same problem and it's definitely tied to Anisotropic Filtering. I have to turn my scenery shadows off so it goes away. :( I have an ATI 4890.

Same issue here. radeon 4870. incidentally I can also say that this problem occured on an old Nvidia 8800 aswell.

Please look it over.
