Error #21 and #4

I downloaded Darkfall 2 weeks ago and have been fighting a brick wall since. I have read the blogs and have seen several tempts, dated 2008, by others that may or may have not worked for others. I did not see any defenative answer issued by DF Tech Support that works for me and my issue.:bang:

I am running WinXPproSP3 with 2.0gbCPU+4gbRAM/Bit Defender Firewall/AT&T 2wireDSL/no router

And just to be clear...Yes I have 40 gigs of Hard Drive free, I have the latest LOBBY.EXE, I have all ports opened to Darkfall.exe, Lobby.exe, Updater.exe, and I have no SFbrowser.exe. I have UDP 32500, TCP 21000 and 21010 port assignments tagged. As a precaution, I have entered the same info in Windows Firewall also (even tho its suppose to be disabled)

Process...
*I click on Darkfall desktop icon (I've also tried Program Manager icon too.)
*Welcome dialog box opens requesting UID and password
*Enter the correct info and click on ENTER
*Receive Authintication...connecting to ???...Initializing Patch
*After 3-4 minutes Connected dialog box appears with News/Servers/PLAY/Forums/Options with PLAY greyed out and Connected - Select Character displayed at top
*After 3-4 minutes dfdata_0001 message followed by error #4
*After 5-6 minutes Connected dialog box disappears and Welcome dialog box re-appears with Error #21 displayed. It says it will retry and TaskManager shows LOBBY.EXE at 100% CPU usage
*I've let it run for as long as 4 days...it never ends. Which tells me it is probably in a loop of some kind

I have made a trouble ticket out and received the "cut and paste" answer which tells me they don't know what else to try.

So, if anyone can help out there, I'd appreciate it if you can send me in another direction.

You tried reinstallation I guess?

If yes I would bet on Firewall/Router.. Try it out one time without Firewall and if that works you know it was the problem.
Maybe you can also try without Router once?

Why do you have no Sfbrowser.exe? Everyone has that in the data folder I think.

I have no router. I am DSL'd into ATT&T 2wire line.
I had modified Bit defender for both ports systems (UDP and TCP)...
Opened 32500, 21000, and 21010.

At one attempt, I disabled Bit Defender and left Windows Firewall disabled.
As a precation, entered Darkfall.exe, Lobby.exe, and Updater.exe in exceptions. Retried and failed.

I am now re-installing DarkfallUS.exe since you pointed out I should have SFbrowser.exe and don't. I must have a corrupted download. Lets see if that changes anything.

Any other suggestions?

I assume they directed you to validate the files using the tool from the start menu? If so, what happened? If not you may want to try that.

Yes, I have seen that error posted at the top of the dialog box with News/Server/Play/Forums/??? at the bottom. I have deleted everything and re-downloaded using that Bit Torrent. Had tried the instructions to download without the Torrent but it fails to load.

Yes...I was directed to the Darfall/Darkfall (repair) but the only thing I can tell is it just launches the lobby.exe like the desktop icon. I have no delay or hard drive activity showing data validation.

Yeah it should launch the lobby then in the area where it shows patching messages it should show it validating each file. If you are not even getting that, something is pretty messed up. Sorry I don't know the solution... :(

Last communication was I was going to be passed on to tier 3 tech for help. No word yet. I've downloaded the game 1 month now and haven't been able to play yet. :bang: this sucks.

Okay...was asked to update my drivers. From the Intel site...everything (cpu,chipset,and audio) is updated. Went ahead and updated ATI x1050 grafix driver even tho I just did it 6 mo ago. Now on ver 9.11 (bad omen).

Same thing...error #21 or #4 over and over each time.

thanks for the honesty.
from all that I see in the forums, others are having various issues.
everyone tries hard to come up with fixes.
and I don't see DF coming up with anything THEY have not suggested before.
which is crap if you ask me.
they keep making "see if this works" ideas because they have no clue what is wrong.

Well...this is a crock of crap. In 4 days, I'm going to be charged for a game I haven't even played yet. How uncool is that.

This is my forum account stated in 2004. Can you imagine waiting 5 years for a game to launch and then you can't even play it.

This sucks...I want a refund.

DF techs was crious about what browser I use. Like it might have something to do with my issue??? Its Firefox 3.5.5. And just on the chance they could be leading up to something...I uninstalled Firefox and I'm running IE 8 now.

I retried launching DF...same thing. Just doesn't want to patch or verify files.

Couldnt fix it myself when trying to log onto the US server (And i could still log onto the EU one) until I overwrote the EU file with the new US files (other than the ones you normally copy over).

Then get this, the game works, but instead of using the DF file the files are stored in, they use the fricking DF US file. And I changed the US folder name as well so wtf.

Now I have an near empty EU folder with the Exe. files used to launch the full US folder to play the game files. While the US exe files are just not working period, even after multiple redownloads & reloads and repairs. Gotta love the odd bugs this game comes up with. Sooner or later I will reload the game fully and hopefully fix it, but its funny as hell to see two of my drives operate to run a game.

Okay...couldn't find a Darkfall EU load. Every support site had peeps converting to Darkfall US...which doesn't work for me.

Please...anybody who cares...come up with something. I don't want to toss $50 down the drain.

I managed to load a Darkfall EU client...
but of course, I have no EU account active.

Please create an account for me as to test this connection.
If Darkfall EU works, maybe that will tell us why Darkfall US doesn't.
