From the videos it seems almost turn based but just wanted to check if anyone else knows something different.

I believe it's real time but you can pause the game and think about what your next move is or set up skils and abilities to be performed for when you unpause.

I'm hearing it's pretty good. 6 different starting zones all with different endings? Some whispers, Idk.. But I'll be getting into..

After 8 fucking months of being gold on the PC it better be. But for our 8 extra months of waiting, what do we get? 2 packs of DLC on launch day, yaaay!

Cool kids got the digital deluxe edition from Steam back when they were selling it for the same price as the normal edition.

I do not want to encourage them by paying extra money for stuff that should already be in the game. I will buy the basic boxed version and seek DLC elsewhere.

Just saying that if you were on the ball a few weeks ago with the preordering, you could get all the DLC stuff without paying a single penny extra.

I don't intend of paying for this game, though I do intend on playing it.

The combat looks like it'll be similar to Baldur's Gate.

does that mean I can summon chickens to kill everything?

There is no turn based play in this game.

It all occurs realtime, with the ability to pause the game and give out commands to each party member... On PC this is typically the only way to play (though you can assign your own auto custom AI to each party member) while on consoles it slightly more simplified.

Is it worth it? Yes, I say so. If you liked baldurs gate, then you'll probably like this game. If you played WoW or MMOs (sigh) you'll like DAO...

This game has gotten great early reviews from critical sites. And with game length of around 60 or more hours... then of course you can replay it as one of the other 5 origin stories.

I've heard the ps3 one suffers from FPS issues.... I got the DAO PC Collectors edition coming on Wed so I'll report back my thoughts.

It's funny actualy, all that talk about piracy on the pc, and the pc version getting delayed to coincide with the console versions. Dragon age and Modern Warfare 2 have already been pirated on the Xbox, but no sight of their pc version yet.

i bet they made it mass effect like, where you can't jump, can't walk over a step if you're not supposed to, invisible walls, same kind of character interactions...

that is not a baldur's gate like game, it's a mass effect like game made for consoles, it's just deeper, more dialogues, different world etc.

i hope blizzard steps up once more and make a real baldur's gate like rpg and show those fuckers how it's done. PC only of course.

also LOL @ EA and the 213243 mini DLC that are coming to keep the cow making money. also lol at different unique items for preorders, for digital download, for collector's, from sites, upgrades, from uploading your character from their character creator...

as someone said i'll definitely play it, but won't buy it. or maybe i will, it's not like it's expensive, i even bought Aion and it can't be worse.

edit: forgot the unique items you get if you play a flashplayer mini game...you deserve piracy.

they have the rights but i am not sure if Black Isle is with them. it's not like it's up to them, EA turns to shit everything they touch.

still can't believe what they done to red alert, 7 hotties was the best thing that game had to offer.

Dave_sp!

I don't think black isle had much to do with the actal game - but yeah i agree about EA, i'm just hoping they had as little to do with dragon age as possible.

On the bright side though, if the games good at least we're guaranteed a (by which i mean 10) sequal(s)

Meh...ordered this one as a pretext of judging swtor. This will be the first title under EA, and I already dont like the whole DLC and they have plans for more of it like that to mini-transact you to death.

Knowing that, I almost think that the PC version might have an authentication server to play through. I like the looks of the game though, and the gameplay looks pretty cool from the warden quest contest that they ran. I havent bought a game in a while so figured I'd go down for this one. Bioware is the reason though and if they let me done here, I'll know not to even bother with SWTOR.

I don't think anyone deserves their work to be stolen from them. If you feel so strongly about the price then at the very least stand by your convictions. The prices on games go down a lot eventually.

EA does and it's not even their work. they can take their DLC and their milking a product/name strategies and put them where the sun never shines.

they'll lose more from piracy than win from DLC, if they're too stupid to understand that it's their fault. customers are smarter than that and won't be exploited.

i wonder when they'll start charging a monthly fee for single player games.

of course. either i will win, or we'll both win. if they want to win more than me, then i'll make sure i win more than them instead.

everyone saw Blizzard's success and wants even a percentage of the profits, and because they can't make a competetive or an equally successful product, they'd rather exploit great classics and charge for every single new thing they add to the game, charge you for items you have to pay extra for them, provide more of the game the more you pay and shit like that.

no thanks, i'll get everything for free and laugh in your face. and if you do it for the next game, i'll laugh at you again. and when you make a great value for money product without trying to milk me with DLC and instead release a proper expansion, then i'll be happy with the great purchase i made and the worthy company i support.

until then, only i will win.

This game was made to cash in on NWN success.

no...they just realised the insane profit there is and how willing is a customer to pay to play a game. since they can't charge a monthly fee or compete in that level, they try to milk as much as they can with DLC, many mini-epxansions, in-game items and shit like that from great classic games. whatever they can charge, they do it.

i wanted to buy the game, and then i realised that i would get a different product and items (no idea of their importance) if i preordered it, if i got the deluxe edition or if i got a simple copy. then i learned that you can update your character from the character creation tool they released to get another item. then i learned that there is a flash player game that gives you more items if you earn them.

i mean seriously...i said fuck off and decided i am not paying for this crap, it doesn't worth to even try and decide which way to buy the game so you know what game content and with what items you will get, and the difference between them. and we're talking about a single player game here.

Dragon age is supposed to be the spiritual successor of Baldur's gate, not NWN.

guess what EA? i'll get everything you offer to everyone and i won't pay shit to you. tell that to your investors and see how they like it. bitch.

i guess we'll never know.

if you think i don't buy original games you're wrong. i recently bought Aion, i got red alert 3 from them, and i also bought Bioware's Mass Effect(those that i remember only from EA).

you wanna know what happened? the game wouldn't run, i asked for tech support and no answer, i posted in their forums and no answer, i asked fan forums and no answer, i RENTED the damn game i already own just in case it was my copy and it didn't work. nobody gave a damn and i paid 50$ to them, and why would they, they already took my money.

you know when i got to play it? when i downloaded it from piratebay

You realize a lot of good games have come out through EA lately, right? The company currently pumping out crap is no longer EA, they changed their business model almost a year and a half ago, get with the times.

You should instead worry about ActivisionBlizzard.

This game is the best single player rpg to come out since BG2.

It's amazing, been playing through the Magi campaign so far. Finally, a fucking good game to spend time on. It's only taken about 6 years or so for something to hold my attention for more than 10 hours in a day.

it's a very good game, a bit linear still but i only just started maybe it gets better later. it has the stink of consoles on it but at least not as much as mass effect.

they still broke the game to pieces for profit though, a simple copy is not enough to get access to everything. that's enough for the game to fail so they finally get message. it's their loss and their choice, i'll get what i want and how i want it anyway.

This one?

When asked whether or not the game has been "dumbed down" to appeal to a more casual audience, Wright replies, "I'd say that's quite accurate.... We were very focused, if anything, on making a game for more casual players."
