EU - The rise of the Ul'Tannek

Whispers in the wind speak of stirrings within the dusty corridors of the Red Pharaoh's pyramid on Rubaiyat.

The power-hungry ambitions of the lords of the Ul'Tannek family have led them to bring life to these long dead tombs and claim the untold powers hidden within. 

Word has it that they seek to increase their fortunes through delivery of ancient relics to an unknown buyer in a far-off part of Agon. One would surmise that a well timed ambush of this caravan could yield a goodly amount of wealth to an enterprising taker...
 
Of course another point of view might suggest that the family may show a generous amount of gratitude to anyone choosing to protect them along their perilous path..

Either way.. rumor has it that a caravan out of Rubaiyat will be traveling sometime on Monday. 

What say you? Will you come and offer aid and perhaps earn the good will of this enigmatic family? Or will you carve your name in legend as the takers of their fortunes and could this be but the beginning of something bigger yet to come?

There's an NPC on the mainland now, you can find him and talk to him I assume.

On Monday the caravan will be on the move, you can kill them and take their stuff or protect them and earn their good will and possibly another reward, and maybe set of a string of events that leads to something really big.

It also seems this will be EU1 only unless this person created an NA account (which is not likely).

Anyway, a lot of dev/GM support will be needed for player events to work, else it will be nothing but a mindless zerg vs zerg fight. :ninja:

you guys are dumb read up - the red pharaoh is a demi-god located in ruby this is probably just an even that leads up to his spawn -- Or just part 1 of a chain quest of some kind till they release him in expansion maybe? all and all you talk to the trader located somewheres and then go do the even in rubyat while 400 dunes chase your ass over "maybe" some crappy loot. Most likely repeatable so you keep trying to get there rares....

A carawan could be created by some players/gms/devs, which are moving in a group from one point to another. There don't have to be any patch/expansion to make this working.
They maybe will start their carawan at the npc, he talked about, and stop at their goal in ruby.

The community staff is just picking random players that they have seen in NPC towns. Tais Grosek hangs out in Shoal and Dartax Dartahagen hangs out in Imathir. They have nothing to do with the actual event except that maybe having crafted the item and sold it via trade chat. .. Crafters mass produce mass items all the time, no big deal some dev snapped it up and used the names for the event.

The actual event has nothing to do with those individuals. So there's nothing unfair going on by introducing random players into the event. Cause I know one thing that would make people the most angry. The community certainly doesn't want unfair treatment of some individuals ahead of others. People get jealous, you know ;)

So I encourage community staff to explain why they are using random game names rather than it be a mystery. There just needs to be one new post clarifying all these details like. What does it mean that "SOMETIME THIS MONDAY", what does this event actually "DO"? What are THE REWARDS like, is it just crap being given out? Are they FRIENDS with these RANDOM PLAYERS? Can anyone be mentioned if they PM community staff and ask to be in the next event?

I hated doing those awesome events in Dark & Light and all I got was 25 fxp & 300 gold .. Such crap. I could go get 25 fxp & more gold in 10 minutes from killing 15 mobs.

I sent RP tells to that Dwarf guy yesterday and he told me to go to Sanguine, when I got there (with my human alt) I asked again in public (which he suggested) and he replied again telling me to go to Monkfield (where i had just come from). At this point I got bored since I didn't even know what the hell I was even looking for and it took him 10 minutes to reply each time.

We've already had 2 events with a 3rd next week. So I'm not sad...just curious as to the timing of this event, and the fact that its on just the EU server, but I guess the EU server is the one that needs saving. NA ppl aren't desperate or jealous over anything on the EU server. They are frustrated and irritated that the transfers haven't occured yet so that we can get our toons off of such a dead server and actually get some pvp.

It was normal day in Imathir until mysterious person asked me for a favor. In that moment I though it is only normal customer. But this woman introduced yourself as Shakra UlTannek and because I heard rumor about Ul´Tannek family, I asked her about this family. This made her angry she doesnt like when people trying to investigate the family.

The deal was canceled and we had a bitter parting. But our deal became a public knowledge and now many are asking me about it. Sometimes they are polite, sometimes they threaten me with violence. I can only give them her name. But some of them dont believe me and demand more information.

My life was calm until she changed it. I am not looking for her or UlTannek family, but it can be nice to hear she was backstabbed in dark night.

(I am not event moderator only normal player. If you PM me in game I will tell you nothing more about event.)

No, these traders are "selected randomly" by GMs and now are involved in the event. I think that is mainly a official event running by Devs/GMs.

With the kind of effort we together put into this, for me its kind of reasonable to be able to participate. Right now those involved are mostly so because of the 'pure dumb luck' factor. We even have runestones bound to some strategic positions on the map.

But have no fear, enough people will be around to kill all the other people. I heard of a plan that will bring in a two-hundred man mounted death-horde into the area. Hope we can dodge that one.

They could have put in clues in-game, they could have put in NPC's with quests, they could have done a lot of things. If they've done so, we are simply unlucky.

In any case I applaud and appriciate any events, it'll just a bit of a let-down on those that miss it.

I have to add, since I got a PM. That the logic that 'if its hard to get the info, there will not simply be a battle of the zergs' fails. Big time.

If only a handful of people find out the secret, at least one or two will bring along the entire forces of their alliance, and one or two more will leak the info to the wrong people - whom will bring in the entire forces of some other alliance.

What I guess they will do is to announce the event only just before it occurs, and that at least is a way that will work to reduce the amount of zerging.

A caravan will move on the map, GM's are at least involved somehow. It will have some sweet loot.

More info will most likely pop up very soon before the event occurs. If there are info about this in-game, or some pre-requisite quests, its really hard to find.

We have talked to guys that are officially the guys that met the Ultanneks.

Polite and friendly, not perfect english. And had not really anything to add for the event that is happening today. So either they didn't want to tell us, or they didn't know anything.

Nah, but rather events where very interested people can figure stuff out before others and get an edge.
Like one of the pyramids talking of an epic bow or whatever, that the player can find, that will deal extra damage to the undeads (if the event was undeads terrorizing cities or whatever). It's not impossiblee without these hints and solutiuons, but they make it easier and more funny to play around with.
