View Full Version : Reimplementation of itemisation.

This will be short and clear.

The current itemisation in darkfall is bad and I suggest devs to think of a way to reimplement it or upgrade it. Why? Because with the current system if devs decide to change/rebalance weapons, all previously made weapons stay the same. I can give you some trivial examples:

1. Acid bow bug. Those bows were bugged when they were introduced along with other elemental bows, as every 10-20 shots they were criting for insane amount of damage. As the bows were "fixed" some time after, this only applied to the new bows, the ones made after the patch. While pre-patch bows don't crit for that much as they used to by, with maxed archery and sharpshooter skills, I was still able to do 120ish damage in a single shot on a fully geared player (bone armour with scale pieces).

2. Noobie weapon imbalance. At some point (couple of months ago, maybe more) there was whole weapon rebalance and higher rank weapons were made more powerful, while lower rank weapons were made less powerful. With this, AV also have changed starter weapons, but the changes only went if you re-bought your noobie weapon (who the hell does that). E.g. prepatch starter polearm has 0.51 damage, but if you would buy a starter polearm now (new players e.g.), it would have only ~0.43 damage on it.

If we get rebalance of items, it should affect already crafted ones too. I'm not saying they should be totally screwed or something, they should be converted to similar like the new ones, or somehow marked as "obsolete" at least so they couldn't be used, but could be vendored for some amount of money at least.

Comments appreciated.

yea i would have thought this was obvious, like all the pre patch mounts floating about. I have no idea why they just let those items still exist in the game.

The problem with existing pre-patch items is here since beta, does anyone remember the nerf of starter 2 h sword? It was the same problem. They can't or don't want to do anything about it.

The minute you use a pre-patch mount they become 100kg in weight. Their only benefit is that you can put a few in your bag until you use them. So, not really much of a benefit.

A few legacy items never hurt anyone to be honest, as long as they are being removed from the system (Mounts becoming high weight, weapons degrade) there isn't a great deal of issue, they just become interesting and different weapons. I do however agree that items that will never disappear (newbie weapons) should definitely be changed.

If you bring 1 primary mount that you use for riding, and several 0.5 mounts, it's just like bringing many 0.5 mounts prepatch, only time you spawned a new mount was when the last one died, and then it's useless wetter it was a 100 kg or a 0.5 kg.

Funny, they did manage to fix the arcane resistances on prepatch and postpatch jewelery. So why not the damage on starterweapons and prepatchmade/dropped weapons?

Are you sure? I'm pretty sure my old jewelery (mob dropped one that is), didn't have any arcane resists. Not 100% sure tho.

Every single MMO I have ever played has "Prepatch" items. From UO on...

Its not that big of a deal really. If there was no decay, we would have problems but all these items will be gone at some point and there are not enough of them around to really worry about it. AV has enough on their plate right now. Reitemization is not needed.

See example 2. Starter weapons will be there as long as players don't rebuy/change it. That is a problem.

yeah, Its scary to think that someone naked will come and attack me instead of using real gear that can kill me.

Only thing that is scary about this is if they sticky back hack, which they probably are doing.
