Something like in daoc. You wouldnt be completely invisible but like I said somthing like daoc. Of course a mage would not be able to use this. I dont kno what do you guys think?

I dont know how it was in DaoC but it is already pretty easy in Darkfall to sneak up on a Person. Just dont cast Buffs when you are 10 feet behind the Person..

If you explain a little more what you mean with DaoC like I might change my Opinion if they had a good system.

the only means I'd accept is in the form of armour dyes

Retarded in every meaning of the word.
Makes me think you're a troll. You probably are.

This idea is complete fail, armor dyes maybe. But stealth skill, you should use skills as stealth... Ever played hide and go seek.

ya i play everyday. In Daoc when you clicked the stealth skill you turned kind of an ethereal color and moved slower but were also harder to see. This i mean this would just help the solo archer or melee if done right.

I don't think Invisibility in the form of a spell or skill has a place in DF. Its all about player skill in avoiding detection, that is why the community is begging so vehemently for armor dyes.

So in conclusion, dyes please, not invis...

Stealth

This is an issue that easily can go out of hand, but it's still one of the most neccessary features of a game where caution and "fear" is one of the keypoints of surprise pvp.

Problems that happen once you can go invisible
If you enter a city as it is now, a guardtower will announce you, everyone that are in that clan will know it, and if neccessary their whole alliance.

So, how could a stealth feature be used without just being something you used to stay at a spawn waiting for that noob to enter and start mine and when you feel like it, go forward and kill him, or wait in that noob spawn until that particular guy farming for hours get low hp and send a bolt right at him, to kill him with no explanation of wtf happened.

As it is now, it's not possible, not if you don't want to keep it like other stealth skills that press that button and you go magicaly invisible, towers don't see you etc.
But, that's not fun, that's not the kind we want.
Before this is possible, the whole guardtower system should be revamped, and stealth being something like in thief series.

How it should be
Where you by standing in shadows, are considered different levels of totally invisible to your surrounding.

If you move, run or sprint, that level will drop different depending on surrounding, etc.
But if your inside a cave, you can be nearly invisible, if none put up a light to show where you are.

That way it would be a way to stay hidden in dark areas, move slightly and people can see you, unless it's pitch dark.
Also you could use it to hide once you entered a city of your enemies, as it is now, with no shadows applied( like most people have) it's impossible to get invisible by standing in shadows, that's why those different levels of invisibility would have to be worked into the engine, so that if your fully invisible, you would get a transparency or something similar.

Since it's already hard to spot people at a distance, if they "blurred" into their surroundings, how would you be able to spot them?
Ofc that wouldn't be possible in broad-daylight, neither would it be possible standing out in the open without a shadow touching you.

A bar similar to the one that show the compass would show your stealth level, if there was a skill named stealth, that would increase the amount you gain, so that if you would have 10% out of 100, of stealth, it's changed to 15%.

At night, everyone would be able to be partially transparent by standing totally still.
But then, shining armor would still, similar to what it does now, give away your position to others at miles range.

You went completely invisible in DAoC for the most part. The only way you wouldn't is if you had crappy stealth and weren't far enough from other players, or if you were next to someone and they had fairly equal or better stealth.

Anyway... No to stealth in DF. The devs said the same thing.

all i do is wander solo meleeing, its very easy to sneak up on people. Some kind of stealth skill just is not needed, crouch walk, use cover. Simple as that. The fact that when you have a melee weapon drawn, you have a 3rd person perspective, means you can see over rocks, and to the side of trees if you use your angle right, while still being completely behind it. In this way you can move to your next obstacle when you think they are not looking etc.

Anyway, stealth is great as is, and is actually one of the better parts of the game. In a first person/3rd person game you dont need a stealth skill, just keep out of their sight.

my answer is NO. I wouldnt MIND pure invisibility, but itd have to come at the cost of not being able to use any melee weapon buy a knife or something like that. And it would disappear as soon as you attack with bow or knife. As stands though stalking without it is quite fun.

No way.

One of the coolest things DF has going for it is that to sneak around you actually have to sneak around: silently and using terrain, recognizing opportunity, etc.
