View Full Version : A Balance to Magic

Short and Sweet, my suggestion to fix magic this mostly just goes towards the cycling of r100 nukes, and the Jump shooting which makes it almost impossible to hit a caster in melee. Which as we know is the real prob with magic and is what makes it a bit Op.

1. Global Cooldowns on Rank specific spells across the board, I toss a Fireball I have to wait 10s before throwing a Corrosive Blast, granted I can still toss another fireball in 4s.

2. Make all the aoe's work like a pbaoe from DAoC if anyone knows if not a Caster would cast a pbaoe onto of a pile of mobs the closer you are to the source of the blast the more damage you would take the farther away the less damage you would take. Now this would work in 2 ways you wont beable to just shot near your target with your r100s and don't even need to bother to aim, and also would work well for noobs, ppl with bad pings, and ppl like me who is used to playing on my xbox for fps and who's aim sucks :rolleyes:

3. Cant sprint while casting, there would be no more of the untouchable kiting and would then make good use of spells like Begone and Stormblast to keep a melee guy off you.

Maybe not as short as I thought.

2. Jump cast, you have to buy, and not all spells are upgradeable.

when did they fix Splash damage? last i checked no matter where a lvl 100 nuke hit on the ground, and how far away it was, if you were JUST in its AOE you still took full damage. Maybe not back damage, but full damag.

Jump casting is on enough spells to count.

I like these proposed balance changes, but we will see what AV has instore for this next patch, perhaps they will make such changes obsolete, or have already implemented them.

I dont mean Jump cast as the upgrade I mean it as casters use it to be able to kite melee indefinably

Why do so many people want to act like a homing missile with melee, put up the damn sword and use a bow / magic at range it is simple. You have 3 types of damage only using one will just gimp you. STOP TRYING TO JUST MELEE YA NOOBS. You should ALWAYS be damaging your opponent no matter what they are doing, not running after them hoping to catch up; that just proves that you are retarded.

There is the argument that the only 1 of the 3 damage types that is viable by itself is magic, this is partially true. Magic fails completely in water, and once someone has closed the gap to melee range archery and melee work much better. People just suck at these and anyone can basically jump cast spin. Point is if you try that jump cast spin shit on a good player you are going to die, you have to be able to melee and ranged (either bow or magery). Stop saying kiting is OP that is BS. The only thing that is OP is being able to cycle huge nukes that can't miss, and I am talking about rank 90's so you can't even jump spin cast these.
