its a basic idea that it just occured to me and i would like to disscus it.

what if u get a lower CD on potions with every heavier armor u wear?

this means, robes--->loong CD
infernal--->extremelely low CD

via this system melee can take a lot of hitpoints provided they have the potions to heal themselves. melee can be viable without magic(they would have to grind potions) this would make herbalism and alchemy more viable to sell stuff. plus also balancing the encumbrance issue.

imo, with this system the difference between the different tiers has to be BIG i mean, if u risk an infernal set u gotta have a GOOOd advantage.

an example:
-robe: 1,1 min cooldown
-studed: 55secs
chain:53secs
bone:50 secs
banded:40secs
scaled: 30 secs
plate: 25 secs
full plate:15 secs
infernal:10 secs

this is just an orientative idea(could be changed easily), consider that ppl wearing infernal would have like 200 of encumbrance and their only viable healing method would be potions. they would only be able to attack with melee but they would be fucking tanks.
archers would be around scaled before they get encumbered...

what do u say? disscus..

in order to allow ppl who want to melee be able to melee at a certain risk vs benefit of course...

ppl with infernal they would only be able to heal via potions..

this sounds like a poopey balance idea. Balance should come in other ways, dont really want the game to turn into diablo, where your character is a complete pothead and cant do anything without them.

its not a poopey idea, its an idea that requires all other balances of course... its just a way to heal for melee without using magic...

first off, they need to make the cooldown on heal/stam/mana potions seperate than that of other potions.
also, where are buff potions?

Healing balance is a major issue that needs to be addressed. I do not think that someone in bone or less should be able to recover 200+ hp in less than 30 seconds.

How would they do this?

stam 2 health
heal self
brew
major heath pot
stam 2 health

not to mention food and fitness

So what should be done about this? Buff pots? nerf heals? offer more "class like" options? Really I don't know.

As it stands right now the risk vs reward of going out in infernal or other heavy, expensive, high encumbrance armor is low, given the inability to effectively heal.

Of course we will all have to wait and see what love the 2nd expansion brings to make melee and archery more viable.
