View Full Version : Character Transfer Information

Following is some preliminary information on account transfers from the EU to N. American servers. This is a hot topic with the community so we tried to get information on it as soon as we could.
The process will start around the 3 month mark from the NA Launch, as originally planned. There will be no transfer fee if the transfer is completed within a month after the transfer option becomes available. You'll just need to purchase a subscription option on the NA server.
Active EU accounts will remain active; players could create a new character and continue playing. Transfers between NA and EU will be available by paying a small transfer fee one month after the free transfer period is over. There will be a minimum wait period between transfers, for example you may need to wait a month to transfer from one server to the other; you won't be able to do it every day.
Characters will be transferred without any items but with all their stats. The devs have looked into the stats between the two servers and they don’t feel this will be an issue. Undoubtedly an influx of mature characters will affect things on the NA server but the existing population is prepared for it.
This is all the info we have right now. We’ll keep you updated on this as we get more information.

LOL I called it ;) We will eb able to have a character on each server without buying another accoutn, we'll just have to pay 2 monthly subs. LOL
so this means that if u wanna keep all the old junk u got in EU-1 ... you would just need a help of a friend to hold them for a while and give them for your alt for rebanking..

It's amazing how much of a difference a little communication makes.
Some people say that it is useless and that people shouldn't worry about it but it really does change things and so far it seems like it really has invigorated the community.

Now it is great news but I am not sold that the stats are pretty close and will not have any impact when those 350+ HP toons transfer over vs. our 250 HP. But I might be wrong and we shall see.

It only changes things becuase AV actually implements what it says it will. All the communication in the world doesn't mean crap if they don't keep true. Look at AoC before Gault was made lead dev

Not sure if everyone read this carefully but it looks as if we will be able to transfer back and forth between the servers!!! awsome!
most EU players dont have 350 hp. 90% dont even have 300.

Does that just mean select a subscription option like 1 month recurring 6 month recurring? We dont have to purchase the client again right?

Have the developers dealt with the issue of names of characters transferring in possibly being already taken? And if so I'm assuming the transferred in players will get the option of renaming themselves.
awesome. Thanks for the info!

I have a followup question.
What will happen with achievements if you transfer?
For Example, say I am partially through the vitality achievement quest and I have the WIS, INT and STR ones completed. Will my character retain this status after the transfer?
We are going to see a large number of toons transferred over to NA from EU that are maxed out on their stats as well as their skills ( eg the Mercs). When we try to fight some one with 100 strength, 100 Vitality, 100 dex etc - we will get wiped. Some one with these stats will be able to take on 20 NA at one time and win - this will kill the game unfortunately. I think this needs to be looked at very closely.

Well I think you're severely over exaggerating, but there will be a difference. Maybe they realize this and have a major change to skill gain (skill cap or decay maybe???) in the upcoming expansion.
We can only hope.

So we need to buy a subscription for the NA server. No biggie.
But do we need to download and patch (like 9+ Gb) the NA client too?
If so, I should do that before the big rush.

I suggest you bring 50 then. In all honesty, 20 well played NA chars could kill a single merc. A fully geared merc can kill 4 normally geared players, though because their melee hits for 90's.
The mercs aren't invincible. They grossly overstate their achievements in every encounter and flat out lie regularly. One time they zerg-sieged a city in the middle of the night with about 160 ppl. There were 4 ppl defending. Ther mercs said they were fighting against 2x as many people as they brought, but still wiped the floor with their foe...
The way you fight the mercs is you don't join them. They rely heavily on their "nut cup". Don't join their nut cup and don't swallow their propaganda and they will not be a major factor.
The problem is that a lot of players are cowards, so they join up with the mercs and become part of the zerg.
They like to play the underdog card, but they almost always bring considerably more people to a fight than they are fighting against.

That's true too.
You'll also be facing ppl who xfer over with < 300 hp. There are a decent number of people on EU that have massively developed characters, but there are also quite a few that would be right around the power of the NA people.
From talking with people who play both servers, it sounds like NA is considerably more populated than EU. Not all EU will xfer. I think the xfers won't be as bad as a lot of people are expecting. Then again, I've been wrong a lot of times with this game...

Here's the thing. If you don't have cap in some part of your character then there is alwasy going to be someone who is bigger than you. It doesn't matter if they are a transfer or not. You know there are NA's out there with maxxed skills and very high stats if not capped out.
Remember they can take your stuff but they cannot take your stats and skills.

This all sounds very nice.
One concern though.
My user account name on EU is the same as the user account name on NA. I'm sure I just get to rename the account. I just hope they are prepared to deal with those minor issues. Something automated would be nice, I'd hate to have to file a ticket.

This is one issue.. the other would be is there a way the Devs could give you (Mr. White) some information like the averages of stats and skills of EU vs NA of active/semi active players.. and then maybe a Highest stat/skilled of both servers just so we have a numbers representation so that those on NA know what we may be dealing with come transfer time?

You both guys are very funny and misinformed.
A) When "themercs" did play(that is if you understand "themercs" as afghanistan alliance, cos if you only take the actual clan of "themercs" there barely was people who played), they didn't have everything maxed out... LOL. Xzy is close to that, rest of afghan had a lot of things to max yet to get there... and there were other clans that had a bigger average than them in skills.
B) The afghanistan alliance no longer exists, the remaining ones made zzzzz clan and joined graveyard.
But yes, keep playing "Theory of Darkfall". It's fun.

So this game isn't for new players right?
If the NA players can't play with EU players then I suppose that new players in any server can't play with any veteran player.

I'm aware of both things... zzzzz is still the mercs in my book... same people minus the ones that got banned for cheating or fled DF.
My point is that their group requires their nut cup and without it the NA people have nothing to worry about. They just have to be sure to field enough people during off hours to avoid those after hours sieges.

Question: If we have an EU account, but it's currently inactive, will we need to resubscribe it in order to transfer the character?
Or, in other words, if my subscription is currently canceled, am I going to have to buy a month subscription on EU1 to transfer my character, so that can I can turn around and pay for another month subscription on US1?

Regardless of the Mercs.. doubt this thread is for that anyways. :bang:
I believe you still need to install the NA version of the game.
Will copying saved files from EU to NA, as far as key binding and UI set up goes from the character folder, work to keep things the same?
Will quests partially done or completed quests not turned in carry over from the EU to the NA server and can be completed or turned in?
Starter weapon slots - will it be reset to one with starter sword or remain all 3 if you have all 3 slots?
And if reading right - 3 months time for transfers means roughly Oct 13th to start a new character on the NA server? And another month after that to actually transfer the character from the EU server to the NA server - making that now Nov 13th ish? So making it actually 4 months to transfer?
Just a few odd ball questions that poped up in my mind.

What I understood here is that you will be able to transfer for free and right away to the na server from eu. But any transfers after that or from na to eu will require you to wait a month and pay a fee.

It shouldn't take more than ~4 people to take down the most macroed and padded char in the game if you aren't retarded (especially now that everyone has easy-bake magic). If you think its going to take 20 people to bring down anyone then its not because of a stat or level difference, you're just terrible at this game.

you can max out all schools in a few weeks if you work at it even casually I play about 10 hrs a week and maxed out 1 school already 71 in fire...all casual moderate macroing on the side. <-- dont like risking regs :ohno:
all stat gains are 3x from mobs...go fight some decent mobs i got my rigor to 75 in a week after the patch - b4 patch i was 70 - again casual gaming.
350hp that is hard to do I get it...but theres a work around...work on your melle that increases ur vit, str, quickness which affects HP-STAM tremondosly...and I went from 1-75 in maces in a week PRE-PRE PATCH..so imagine how fast it is now...
all and all...AV gave the community a way to get up effectively to be effective in combat....
but 95% of skill comes from the person controlling the avatar. stats mean nothing without player skill...

Honestly though, what is the point of transfering? The reason I was going to transfer in the first place was because I wanted my character to be more advanced then those on NA, and that I didn't want to regrind a new character.
Now with these recent patches that reduced the grind to minimal, made stat gains much easier, some players on NA have advanced characters like that on EU, even though it took the EU players months to get to where we're at now. And since we can't even transfer our gold or anything at all, what's the point besides the better ping?

Desperate Hackwives: "What's the point if i'm not gonna be able to win without earning it?" Omg you're so sad... The point and the only point there should have been from the beginning was to have better ping. Point in transferring instead of creating new account is to not pay 2 times and to get better ping without losing your character DEVELOPMENT, NOT your advantage over the rest.
Would post some insults(i actually wrote them), but since this forum is heavily moderated i don't wanna get the post erased...
