View Full Version : Information about tomorrow's patch
Mr. White

If you don't like spoilers, you may want to wait until the official patch note announcement tomorrow. Otherwise keep reading:
This is what we've found out: As we mentioned earlier, this is a small patch mostly about fixing bugs, but not only that. Several important outstanding bugs have been fixed in this patch including the bank bag bug (try saying that a few times), the Ravenous bow bugs, it being overpowered and able to do damage to clan and hamlet stones, also a couple of mount-related bugs have been addressed.
Air magic advancement has been fixed, so has the invisible acid rain spell, a couple of user interface issues with the hotbar, the in-game browser, and several rare client-side bugs. There have also been a couple of features added to the chat window.
There are world building updates to several areas, and monster AI stategy /tactics updates also. I know these get boring to hear about every time but there is a serious amount of work that goes into them and with every patch, the world looks better and the monster AI improves. If you were to consider the way things were at launch compared to now, there's a world of difference when it comes to these areas. The devs tend to give these updates a brief mention at best, many changes don't even get mentioned, but the truth is that when it all comes together they lead to major improvements in the game.
The Darkfall devs have been really good at addressing bugs quickly and fixing them. Almost every outstanding bug that we're aware of is being worked on as we speak. It's possible that most will be fixed in tomorrow's patch.
There are a few more things that we were asked to not post since the patch is still being worked on. You'll find these changes in the patch notes tomorrow.

let's not go and ruin our newfound relationship with propaganda, shall we? while i applaud the newfound lines of communication, 3 weeks is not a quick turnaround for gamebreaking bugs.

Does this include a fix so you cannot cap village control points with transmuted bows OR is that intended?

I read just fine. It says "Ravenous" specifically and clan and hamlet stone. Does not say anything about Village Stones OR the other types of transmuted bows which ALSO do siege damage to village stones.

It's a pitty that AV hasnt hired these guys in green before, a lot was lost in the past due to the lack of communication between community/Devs, especially players.

Air magic advancement has been fixed.
First of all, thanks to AV for the communication. Been long coming.
I was wondering about this particular piece though. I was under the impression the Air Magic advancement was just a bug when the last patch was released and was hotfixed? I've been leveling Air Magic for a while now... is it really bugged and I should wait till they fix it? It did seem kind of slow, but I wasn't sure. What exactly is broken with it atm?

Very true.
People who left for that reason would have found another reason.
Maybe, but i know for a fact many would have stayed if their fears, questions and hopes were answered, and not greeted with silence. lets hope that the new folks in green are an answer we can live with and that new blood doens''t leave due to a lack of communication.

Yup - people just need to realize this is not a company with the resources of a Blizzard, etc. They have get the foundation laid ad continue to grow while improving the game. Things continue to get better all the time.

Air magic advancement? As in skill-gain? Sped up, or slowed down more?
Invisible acid rain, very good. How about the invisible Ice Storm spell?

I think this is the first time AV makes me feel respected as a paying customer.
Great initiative. This surely is a move in the right direction to make DFO the great game it can be.
Lets just hope we get real feedback from the devs in terms of questions answered straight up, and not only a 1 day headstart on half of the patch notes.

It's amazing the difference in community reaction when they are fed some information from the development team. It's great to see you working for AV, guys in green .. it's exactly what the community wanted.
Keep the information coming, much appreciated!

Mr. White, any news on when Meteor Strike will no longer have a necromancy animation? (I'd prefer something ground shaking like volcano :D)
Just a thought - casting it at the water and making a tidal wave of doom would keep me subscribed to this game for eternity.

I just lvled my Air Magic to 75, I swore during one of the last patches it said that Air Magic skill increase was fixed. So I had no clue there was anything wrong with it? Can anyone verify whether it skills faster or slower than the other schools currently?

As always the proof of the pudding will be in the eating.AV have always talked a good game and not been scared to blow their own trumpet. The trouble is they have often not delivered.
Lets see what actually comes out on patch day tomorrow before we get too excited.

I guess you will be hoping that they bring in a "harass, grief and gank new players in Ringfain" skill, eh Ginger?

Something I feel should be considered is that while I see AI difference between different mobs - in general mobs just keep getting smarter, smarter and twitchier.
Undead Zombies shouldn't have much twitch skill and perhaps be a little slow and clumsy - it might be so at the moment but not very noticible.
Keep mobs that should be stupid, just that. Stupid. And tweak up the brains on clever mobs. :)
Reservoir Dogs are finally taking over the Darkfall ...
