View Full Version : What do RP guilds actually do in this game?

You could make a themed guild, but you're going to have to grind and exploit and macro like everyone else in order to be competitive in PvP. The assumption here being that you actually would try to make an RP guild based around combat. Probably the only successful RP guilds are crafter oriented ones.

One of the downsides of an RP guild in a game like this is that the pace is much slower. It takes time to develop a good, interesting plot which others can integrate their own backstories and current direction into.
Meanwhile, the pure PvP'ers are grinding away at their skills to turn you into sausage. ( Crafter's side-note: No amount of spices make a dwarf taste good. )

Back in the good ol days we used to have events like tournaments, and we'd set up a Sunday bazaar day. We also would have raiding parties made for the sole purpose of cleansing.

Darkfall is an RP players dream except for the fact that there is no balance, one cannot RP at all in this game.
When over 70% of the population in DF is running around ganknig new players it is extremely difficult for anyone to stay focused and stick around. Unless you are one of the 30% of DF pop that enjoys use of explouts and hacks.
I for one wish AV would release a NON OPEN PVP server, with limits being around starters cities and keep certain zones (clan cities, Racial Borders etc) for PVP. Plus the World Lore and PVE absolutely blows in this game it is so similay to an Asian pve grindfest its not even funny.
The only thing that is somewhat keeping me interested in this game is the crafting and politics.
But please AV open a non open pvp server.
Noting the carebear above me, I've personally found that most RPers don't have the stomach for PvP. Yew Militia is the only RP clan that lasted, and I reached out to several RP/theme clans, only to be told that:
1. They didn't want to leave the starter cities.
2. Refused to live in a town w/out towers.
3. Refused to leave their racial homelands.
Since most RP clans don't have their own hamlets/cities, the only thing left to attack is newbie spawns, which pisses off normal players as well as new RPers (who, again, tend to be thinner skinned and will leave the game).
With that in mind, Yew mainly has weekly meetings and had one or two RP/PvP events, partially due to it's high involvment in the Death alliance.

I ask because before I got the game I had an idea of wanting to create a lite RP guild based around staying in a racial homeland and defending it against incursions of reds. We wouldn't fight blues, we would make ourselves available to aid in clearing out enemies of the racial lands.
I don't know if it would be possible for us to hold a hamlet let alone a city, but we might be able to work with others who do.

Never seen an actual RP clan yet though I'm sure there are. My clan is a "lore friendly" one, but we do not RP except VERY lightly at best. Basically we just choose not to do the convenient route of going ARAC Clan and we stick to the racial alliance, and typical racial hatreds. We've made it clan policy to not attack lawful members of our racial alliance (blues), but all reds, including traitorous Ork/Mahirim are free to KOS.

Very, very, very, very untrue.
