Yssam History: The Erodach & Elfshades
- The Legendary Raiders By Celiah Ailey
This is a story in a series of historic tales by Celiah Ailey. All stories are about the life on Yssam and span from the Ancient Times all the way up to contemporary life on Yssam. The stories are primarily painted in the light of the Legendary Raiders of Yssam and may not include information about other historic events happening during those times.
Many years ago in an ancient time, the glorious Yssam jungle was dominated by a strong cult of fanatics called the Erodach. These Erodach mastered the arts of fire magic unlike any other in those times. Everybody feared the erodach and many people worshipped them. No city was strong enough, no army large enough to defend itself against the unleashed wrath of the powerful Erodach fanatics and their leader Iyrtan, whom the Erodach worshipped for his magnificant power.
So in order to live in relative peace with the Erodach and Iyrtan many people constructed beautifully decorated temples and sacrificed live humans as often as they could.
Rumours said that the erodach and Iyrtan had come to posses a technique or spell allowing them to attain immortality, but that the work was still premature and so the Erodach needed live humans to continue their experiments.
The Erodach had only one weakness, one which would eventually lead to their great demise. The fiery gods, the Erodach, had enchanted their hearts with a fire spell making them able to cast fire magic with incredible efficiency. However, with this enchantment a new desire was born within the Erodach. It was this desire that fueled their fire spells. The greater the desire, the more efficient their spells. But fail to fulfill the desire for too long and the heart would forever become wrinkled and tired leaving the Erodach only a fraction of once claimed powers.
For a long time the Erodach kept their secret well. Nobody knew about the Erodachs' weakness and their sadomassochistic rituals with the elusive jungle elves. Because the thirst for flesh could only be satisfied by jungle elves. Jungle elves, in exchange for their bodies received all the riches they could dream of. They lived in luxury and secretely many enjoyed the dark rituals more than their riches.
With the Erodach almost having uncovered the path to immortality and their secret well kept it didn't seem likely for the people on Yssam that there was any hope for major change. A grim future was painted on the horizon.
