Not bad. Definately something that the masses should get more exposure to.

Things like these are leagues and bounds better than any half-assed review, because these actually help allow the viewer to decide for themselves if Darkfall is the type of game that they'd want to play.

Right on, thank you for your kind words. These vids are not meant for us as a player base, but exactly as you said, for people interested in the game that haven't played it and want to view it based on a visual experience and not from a biased reviewer who played the game for 9 hours soto speak.

In any case, just wait till ship-combat becomes the norm in Darkfall, OMG. :)

Actually I think these videos are pretty bad. At first it was alright, now I think you're just taking the piss. There's no way that you actually play this pathetically - purposefully making these noob mistakes and playing like shit won't appeal to potentially new players. They want to see the good stuff. Why don't you actually train that character up, make use of transfers and show people how bad ass you can be? Nobody plays MMOs to be shit and your videos don't give them much hope. You make the combat look horrific.

Just do some videos like this on Ripper and get some decent PvP into your videos, if you can that is. If I wasn't already a player, Helba's PvP video would attract me to the game more than your pretty views.

Newer players play a shitload worse than the guy in the movie. Its a nice change of rhythm from watching the videos where everyone is geared in infernal and potting like crazy. Noobs can relate to these videos, not rippers. I like the scenery in the video too; I play the game on the lowest settings, so its nice to see Darkfall this way.

Who pee'd in your cheerios?

So maybe your attracted to the uber leet vidoes of Helba kicking ass, well, thats not a reality for most people. What this guy is doing IS a reality for most of the new DF players. Hes not trying to make this game look better than it is, if he showed himself running around nuking people with volcano and earthquake, new players would be quite dissapointed once they got in game to realize they have to spend 12 hours a day for the next month of their life to achieve what they saw in the video.

Go back in your hole with your negativity!

I'm not necessarily attracted to that personally, if I want to see people get destroyed in Darkfall, I just do it myself along with the rest of the competant players. The main issue here is that people play MMOs to be 'the man' wether they admit it or not, that's why so many quit when they lose their cities and realize they'll never be anything special. People want to see others being 'the man' so that they can have some hope of achieving that skill level themselves. Actually a good example of this would be Black Shields breaking off from VG, you saw that as VG, you'd forever be mediocre and that didn't appeal to you. You tried to make something for yourselves as Black Shields. Don't deny it. Being mediocre and shit doesn't appeal to you, and it doesn't appeal to noobs either - they don't want to 'relate' with the person in the video, they want to see what they can potentially become.

They don't want to watch shit vs shit.

Moron.

Hmmmm, you do understand that not every person that plays MMO's is a 12 year old that thinks he can be the biggest badass in the entire world, right?

Personally, I dont care to achieve being 'the man' or anything close to it, and when deciding whether or not to buy a game, I would MUCH rather watch these noob videos than some Helba video.

To each his own I guess, but to call everyone in this thread a moron for not having the same immature view of everyone wanting to be 'the man' in MMO's, I think we may know who the 12 year old is here

EDIT:
Me breaking off from VG to join Black Shields didnt really have much to do with wanting to be better in any way, my closest friends from VG had all moved to BkS, and I just wanted to play with them. Granted, it is absolutely amazing to do battles at 1:3 odds and come out fully encumbered with gear, thats something I never got in VG.

But in the end, the only reason I joined BkS was for the people, not the appeal to be better.

I think we may know who is in denial here. You broke off from friends in VG in order to 'do your own thing' as Black Shields right? That translates to, "I think we can do it better alone." which in turn means there is at least some truth in what I said. If you accept it or not, that doesn't matter - it's the truth. Sorry.

Then what I said applies to your closest friends that are ex-VG. Just accept it. Also wether you done it for the appeal to be better or not, you're certainly enjoying yourself a lot more now, right? Which is why people would rather be good at the game, and watch people that are good at the game play. The only way I can see these 'the noob' videos being beneficial is if Ripper plans to do these for a while, to show the transition from total noob to at least slightly okay. I was going to say from total noob to bad ass, but as Ripper seems to be more about making videos than actually playing the game, I don't know if he has it in him personally.

Thats actually an extremely long story about the officers not being treated right, and getting sick of the situation, thats the reason they left.

All in all, you think that these videos arent helping anything, while everyone else thinks they are. You have a different view of why people play, what people want, etc.

Its almost 4am and I dont really care to argue this anymore (and no, this isnt me saying "omg hes right I better shut up!")

Im just not one to argue on the internet:

Aesteria Canra, I'm on EU-1 however. I'll be posting on both forums as long as they're available to me - I don't think the activity hurts.

Lol trolls these days..

I'm not a troll, the fact that my opinion differs from everybody elses has nothing to do with trolling. I put my point across properly, which is more than can be said for you, or many others on these boards.

i think the videos are great for DFO. it shows noobs how harsh it really is. as well as how great the game looks. he had to fight for a goblin spawn right away. it showed him fighting his own race and race alliance and that no where is safe really. also that you do die and it isnt the end of the world. that you can achieve victory fighting someone better geared and better skill with some player skill. also for the most part you need a noob friendly guild to help get you started.

the people that do quit, quit because they believed the game to be something that its not. the game is a sandbox game and is mostly driven by the guild your in. the guilds and alliances that dont last are the ones that are lead by people with personality like yours. slaming headsets and raging cuz they just got rocked by a naked noob with a starter pole arm

At least you can put your point across properly, and I have to agree that on some extent it is good for the game and shows how harsh the game is. I guess after having played for around 8 months now including beta, I don't notice these things as I'm used to it.

*sigh*
Arguing, debating, either way, my point is that, well, its pointless.
I just prefer duking it out in-game, where the real fights are suppose to be taking place.

But if you would like me to sit here and debate my opinion with you, even though they are clearly different, well then lets go ahead and waste the next several hours of our life debating why the noob videos are good or bad for new DF players.

Again, I play the game for the game, not the forums.

great post yet again OP.

to Cetra,

You have an opinion, you believe in it strongly, thats great. Me, reigner, and others disagree with you and believe these videos are great for incoming gamers.

The main reason you see so much hostility towards you (and i bet you already know this) is because your an ass. Thats cool, people come in all shapes and sizes. Just dont expect others to care about your opinions if you act like a child.

You enter the discussion trying to assert that your position is the correct one. What you fail to understand (or understand and are trolling us) is that when you an asshole, people dont listen to you, they dont agree with you, and they dont care.

GL on EU1, cya in 2 months, and in the future if you truly care about a position, try approaching it from a point of civility, instead of acting like a jerk. :)

so you're saying that if WoW wanted to promote its game to new players it would make a video of running 2 hours between starters towns and killing Hogger?

No, they make videos of the fucking endgame raid bosses or battlegrounds.

Centra is 100% right on this. One "noob" video made a point. A third one is just painful at this point. You would get so much more information from a nub guide than random tidbits from another clone youtube movie.
