View Full Version : Don't fall for zerg propaganda.

There will always be a larger alliance that's just common sense. See what happened to EU when there were no longer daily large scale battles? Lots of enthusiasm for the game died, people quit, more trolls on other game forums. I've seen it all and I hope when I transfer from EU that it's not the same bullshit with the zerg propaganda again. I want to see large scale fights, that's one of the things that I miss. Sure there are these types of fights every now and then but it was never like before. People had more reasons to play when they had a large enemy. Don't you guys think it would be better to have large alliances compete? The servers are much better optimized than before so it could handle more people than a few months ago. It is just epic seeing 100v100 or 200v200. I am not saying that smaller scale is bad but this game needs a combination of both in order to prosper.

You're an idiot.
The only "zerg" vs "zerg" was Hyperion vs CotC (+Death, +Cairn), after which point Afghan (+SB, +Cairn) turned on them. Even these zerg alliances were zerged; the point of a zerg is to overwhelm with numbers. It's different than simply saying "large scale battle."

The idea of a zerg alliance is to mass recruit, and attack alliances smaller than them. I'm all down for large scale battles, but it gets a bit old when you kill one person just to see three streaming from the bindstone, naked, to take his place. You can never even gank your incaps because waves of zerglings just keep coming, over and over, like an ocean full of shit.

There's a difference between an alliance, and a zerg.
I have no problems with alliances, or alliances competing.
But zerging up to where you outnumber your enemy 3 to 1 is a pretty clear indication of your lack of confidence in your ability and in the faith you have in those around you.

The lack of enthusiasm is the result of a lack of casual PVP, not a lack of bullshit zerg alliances.

I place the blame for the current state of Darkfall solely, and entirely, and the broken state of Villages.

Actually, Tenebrion, I think it goes a little deeper than that:

I place the blame for the current state of Darkfall solely, and entirely, on the allowance of AV to allow people to macro and exploit unmolested, while simultaneously not doing anything to taper down the power gained by doing these two things. This results in a game where people are too afraid to do anything but exploit gold, macro elemental, rinse and repeat because they may fall behind in the skill curve (see EU1 - A clan called The Mercs, you may have heard of them; regardless of skill, they melted most opposition through sheer character advancement) and not being able to compete. People will no longer leave their holes to come fight, except for when they feel a little crazy on a saturday night.

I even knew certain people on EU from another clan who pretty much never went out to PvP, because they didn't have x elemental yet, or x sharpshooter, or x stats. Pretty pathetic system, really, when those who go out and pvp regularly are actually falling behind those who choose to spend their days exploiting gold and their nights macroing with the mats they buy from it.

Needs to be fixed if we're going to see an active, vibrant PvP community on this server.

Excessive macroing isn't the problem, it's a symptom of the problem.

If people had fun things to do outside of their city, they'd get off of their asses, turn off their macros, and play the game. I know damn near everyone in SBA/Graveyard, for example, drops whatever skilling they're doing when they hear there's a fight, or that there's about to be a fight. However, once the fighting is over, people get back on their macros, and tune out of Darkfall.

The problem is that the game just isn't fun. So people resort to switching on their macros, and then going out and doing other things. Sure, they can justify the situation by saying that they're only trying to reach a goal, but really, once most of these people reach their goals, they find out that there just isn't enough "fun" in actually playing the game. So they linger for a month or two, attending a few sieges and finding other goals to macro towards, but eventually they just lose the interest, and they stop logging in.

With consistant meaningful PVP, macroing would be tolerable. More so, with consistant meaningful PVP, logging into Darkfall would be tolerable. Hell, it might even be fun.

I agree with you on most of those points; but I believe mine still stand, as well. The exploiting and the macroing does drive a good amount of people into their little holes, never to come out, regardless, until they reach a certain point. I've seen this quite a few times, first hand.

Honestly I agree with both of you to a point..

I paid for NA again simply to get to enjoy a solid month of fair(ish) PvP...

Of which ive gotten my fill of.. Luckily EU taught me not to completely ignore my character progression and ive spent a good 20% of my online time grinding skills.. As well as macro'ing whenever I can (my computer is my business)..

Ive honestly fought PvPers the first week... Who after getting beat, holed up only to re-emerge with elemental or a weapon mastery. STILL people hole up, not ready to come out just yet. Its because they think there is a "finish line" on skills..

Everyone is always racing to this line.. Some just take it to an extreme.

We have seen how Aventurine's "Skill can beat the zerg" plays out.. Sadly we were all gullible enough to think they meant our skills.

I have always and will continue to play this game casually... The game stays fun as shit and I dont nerd rage on my guild, my enemies, nor the community.. Half as much as I would if I was burning the midnight oil like most of the "PvPers" are.
