the starting zone is near the racial capital. of course its not a "safe" zone but from what i understand there will be a lot of guards and very difficult to PK there.

although i guess if to friends create a charactor at the same time they could go around 2v1ing everyone when thier are no guards near by, but i dont think there will be a problem with higher skilled up players camping the starting zone.

Ill ck out the landscape, looking at Hennings handywork, then Ill look at chat.
Soon as I see the First name spaming ,"Can some one spare some gold?".

I will track that player down and attack in town just to see the Guards reaction time.

IF there swift, after I resorect, Ill also try to climb the building walls to what tactical advantage or sneeking and high ground movement I can do.

Then Ill slowly head out and look for groups fighting the easy local mobs and
eather help out or scavange the fallen to keep the area clean and tidy(thats my good deed for the day work, so all that loot doesnt spoil the landscape)..

Soon Ill have enuf for a small skiff and then its sail the cost looking for unique
items and places... Once I filled up with STUFF, its head back and look for a trainer to pad a few Skill points...

After tossing a few coins at the local taveren, Ill ck out what Clans are forming and how they compair..

While standing there in wonderment looking a the world of Darkfall, I suddenly relize , Oh crap, Gank team here, got to Flee!! and fast, there allmost done with that guy... Akkk Run you fool!!! Wooh made it.. Guards are meen ass'ed
cleaned there clocks..(wonder if I can loot there bods, real fast? hummm...)

Catch a breath at the local trading banking area, see if I can buy something beter then a rusty chiped snaged bladed butter knife, and perhapes a bit of
Armor as my rotted skin armor is well soggy from all the running aways from gank teams and is well a bit smelly... (Why the hell is that Dworf guy looking at me like that? No I wont strip for a gold coin you twit, make it 10!)

Interesting while training up a skill at a the local trainer, She happened to say the name of a small hamlet that had a trainer a bit better then her, said it was a ways south west along the coast on that old traiding path...
Hum, well Im off along the path, short ways? been out here for a day.
Got killed 5 times from strang things and two times from players who looked easy picking but had strange skills I wasn't ready for... Found that hamlit and the trainer but ,crap that skill he offers cost a small fortune.. Back to the startup city...

When I get in game for the first time I will probly be stuff for 15 min figuring out all the interface. Then ill run far enuf away to train up skill...

When my skills are far out better than the avg newbs ill come back to starting area and start out my training of the rest of my skills on actual players. this will give me some skills with the interface and the Pvp.

then when eventually every gangs up to go kill necrash.:bang: damn it!! o well. Ill get some of the gear that i took form alot of thouse previous people I killed. And go repeat till I get a really good feel for the game mechanics.

Then Ill go out and serch for practically ever althou i have a general idea of where im settling but now with pvp experience i can kill any oposition set Up DH... Clan city first building witch will be clan stone building.

I will go around and kill my next doar neighbors to figure out who is a carebear or a good pvper!. Once I take the carebears out make friends with the good pvpers!! and consolidate the teritory!

Once thats done well make a intercity trade. and start to recuit out side of already made clan. And help the ones around me mabe back stabb a few hey thats how you play!!!

While the game is loading ill make a quick run to the market and buy 5 monsters so i can stay up all night playing the game. Then i will procede to log into the game and screw around for a little figuring out the controls and stuff. After about a hour or so ill have 2 of the 5 monsters gone and ill have killed all the carebears around my starting zone. Finally after 8 hours ill have drank all of the monsters and then proceded to die of a heart attack... but at least i died happy because ill be playing the best mmo game ever.

as for when i first log in to darkfall;

I plan on extensively checking out all of the skills and spells and throwing together whatever I can with what little knowledge we will have of the skills/spells right from the start.

Rockstars for me personally, and i hope to beat my ever-so-shamefull record of 37 hours of gaming straight (With WoW unfortunately). 5 monsters could be dangerous btw, consult your doctor first ;P.

the first time i load up it will give me the message "could not find the file startup.exe" and i will have to re download the game and wait another 24237y892 hours. after this i will be so scared to see it again but it won't say it so i log in and i figure out the controls for about 5 minutes then i go outside of the city and kill some scorpions and sell their pincers for 1 gold yes!! after that i kill a few newbs that just spanwed and i take their stuff. after dying from the guards i figure out that this is a bad idea and i need to get back my armor so i proceed to killing outside of the city to gain more skill and money and see how combat works.after that i will go back to get my armor and back and buy a rusty dagger (1-5 damage) and a longbow (2-8 dmg). SweEt!! then i will go to the local trainer and grab a few stealth skills and combat skills. i will go into the nearest dungeon with my friend and we will have... err i mean we will do some small quests so we can work on our skills and gain additional items and skill points. after i have become comfortable with my skill and combat i will sneak around town probably at 2-4 in the morning when everyone is being little girlies an whimping out and logging off. i will pickpocket some of your small items and use them then destroy them for the hell of it. after i have become bored with pickpocketing your items and pissing you off i will dissapear into the shadows and leave to go kill some more outside the city.

after im done killing everything i want to learn fletching so i c make my own arrows and maybe go fishing for a little bit. after i have made my fish fallet and some 24 arrows i will find the trainer that tell me how to make and set traps. i will then practice doing that until 7 in the morning when i finally need to go get somthing to eat because im doubled over on the floor crying from nausea. after i have regained my energy i will practice my swimming, just incase... you never know when you might get kid napped and dumped off in the sea (which i do hope can happen, cause then ill just cast fireballs straight down at the ground to kill myself and the kidnappers... nevermind i won't have that spell.)

Then I'll wake up and realise I'm playing a real game and just run around and go nuts!

Personally I love rockstar myself, not because it tastes the best or because it gives you the most energy but come on it says, party like a rockstar right on it, how can I resist? As for my first log in I plan on getting pkd mkd gkd and any other kd you can think of...

Hmmm... Ill probably log into vent and see what where everyone is in game... then I will pick up the skills that I had decided on when a complete skill and spell list was added to the Darkfall website after E3 (please god). I will then proceed to go hunting with my guild and increase my skills.

My first log in will be with an Ork or Mirdain male. I'll take my time near some guards setting up and getting familiar with the interface. Then, after I get some fletching tools and an axe, I'll take my starter gear havin ass in the general direction of the enemy city. I'll kill whatever game I come by with my bow, taking out mobs whenever I come across them, training up my main skills and learning the game mechanics.

Eventually I'll come across Pks, and I'll have to defend myself to the best of my abilities. When I die, I will respawn at my starter city, go to the local tavern and start swinging my axe at the first fool that I decide is a waste of existance. I'll loot the corpse and jump on my getaway horse and leave town for a while. If I get killed in the process, then oh well. I'll know not to test the guards again... for a little while.

If I make it out alive, I got a sack full of a dead fools possesions, my own gear (which surely wont be much), and a horse. I'll roam the land as a fugitive, making friends and killing ass holes who decide to test my skills. Then, I'll join up with my clan The Crystal Order and we shall conquer the lands.

Hopefully I will be a primary tester. and wont have to put up with lagg issues and servers breaking down because of the overwhelming amoun of people trying to log in.

I will then take at least one or two hours just to learn every single funcion of the interface and all of the options, then cry a little more.

After some chaotic movement and getting in touch with the game and interface, ill start looking for preist/mage NPC that has a quest for me. I do the quest and gain some uber spell/prayer/skill as a reward. Rinse and repeat this a few times untill im semi-satisfied with my toon. Then ill make some money by using a trade skill or killing newb mobs. Then its time to head back to town and buy some pvp gear, enough to replace my lost items if i happen to die few times. Next step is to start lurking near the town and pwn any unaware player or die trying, in other words time to earn my pker badge.

In time, i will most likely grow to pwn the whole server by myself and when that happens, roll a new toon in another server. Again, rinse and repeat this to eternity.

Then Im out to hunt again, I'll aim for the closest mob but as my archery skill suck I will completely miss it and hit some poor guy that gets pissed of and starts hunting me, and I would run like the pussie I am <_<

I'll create my chara carefully but not spending too much time on it, enter the world and go "Woooow, i'm in DF, i must be dreaming."

I'll go find a relatively secure place while trying to avoid the killing fest, and experiment with the controls and commands, read any help and ask around if in doubt. Then i'll look at the skill list and decide what i want to make a decent and fun hybrid character. As soon as i see there's a skill for bows i'll just run around looking for one and start shooting mobs and other players that are enjoying their PK spree for being so happy and excited that they're inside their dream game :p.

Oh, and start to meet as much ppl as i can, making friends. Gotta have'em friends. But yeah, i want to know some ppl right from the start of the game, it's always good to make friends in-game :)

I will also watch the intro movie. Then I will log in and spend a decent ammount of time at character creation. Once I am in, depending on how crazy it is as soon as I log in, I will find a safe spot and figure out the controls and the quick keys. I will probably look at the list of the skills and find a few which I want to concentrate on to raise, probably a basic melee skill, or maybe a few different ones to see which I like the most. I will hunt basic monsters outside of the town, anything that I can get my hands on. Slowly make some money, maybe look into a crafting type skill, or somthing that I can farm and sell for money (wood normally). Once I have a little money I will buy the skills I want to focus on and work them up. Normally I lean towards non magic related skills at first. I have found it easier to make a more melee based character first just for the fact of learning the game and making some money, but who knows.

Character selection:

Starter skills and kit for either basic or prestige class
A few tweeks to my look, hair/face and all that stuff and *poof* Starter town or noobville :)

First activity?

Locate all the necessities, vendors, bank, skill merchants and trades... basically explore a bit while I get used to the interface (UI)

Then log out, and log back in... to see how that works. (also to make sure that I'm not dreaming and Darkfall is a game and NOT vaporware (LOL))

Then down to business... start a small circle and work slowly out exploring and killing... finding and figuring out guard zones and the lay of the land and learning my character choice and how it all works.

Learning the loot code, what's worthwhile and not, but always exploring and testing my limits/developing skills.

That's first day, and the next week or so will be more of the same.
If its similar to what UO was, I'l be a towny for a while... but my first long term goal will be a house or a larger "container" to drop off loot and establish a base of operations.

Small steps, always forward, never greedy...

Though I am sure about 80% of the PvP kills in the first month will be from situations like this. Then they will begin the pvp nerfs...it will start off slow, but next thing you know there will be non-pvp areas and dungeons...soul bound items...and large raid clans.

My first login ? I'll be rolling down on the floor laughing at the blacksmith trying to craft himself an armour and a weaponry without any resources . I wonder how long will take it for him to piss himself off and start to throw names :D
After that i'll stalk the blacksmith which will obviously try to hunt monsters with invisible weapons / armour . When he'll die a couple of times i'll meet him by the NPC soldiers begging them for escort , i'll watch him slowly die when the guard will ask him " Where's the money faggot ? After that i'll start to get used to idiots all around me and i'll try to get me and my clan to the human / orc border and we'll try to overrun some clanstone in mountains for an encampment for us (bandits)

We'll do massive PKing from that point on humans mainly , tough we won't let any elves or dwarves leave either . In some time when we'll have a pretty good encampment , we'll try to get ourselves a few allies , maybe orcs and with them we'll start organised raiding of small villages around .

Yes...ganking some one while they are in PvE is a stratagy. However, I have Ulitima Online as prove it kills a game. I am a sporting PvP player. I get no joy or fun from ganking some one while they are fighting a mob and are at half health already with half their magic used up. Any one should be able to beat an opponent in that condition. This is almost no skill involved.

And here is the kicker, if the person was engaged in PvE then they probally did not want to be PvPing at the time. (why any one like this whould play a game like darkfall...I don't know, but this type will most likely make the largest part of the population). Then they will get pissed off and cancel their account and leave feedback on why. Then we will get all the changes that none of us want just because people want easy kills or go after miners. Thus ruining the game. If you are smart about it you...we...can keep the darkfall we have already came to expect.

And the developers can say any thing they want to right now, but after the game goes live they will no longer have any say on the matter. It will be up to the accountants. It is even questionaable how much say the developer have on the issue right now.

Mate , you're forgetting one kind off important difference between UO and darkfall . UO players were young . UO happened a lot time ago and there was a real difference in age for the current players and those players 8-10 years ago . We're more mature now and to say the truth , most of us probably are 18 + . And yes , it is a huge difference ;)

Alot of hardcore players also have alot of experience now and dont forget alot of hardcore also come from one of best open pvp games AC-darktide(server)(AC2 also but was not so big and good)

While the game is loading ill make a quick run to the market and buy 5 monsters so i can stay up all night playing the game. Then i will procede to log into the game and screw around for a little figuring out the controls and stuff. After about a hour or so ill have 2 of the 5 monsters gone and ill have killed all the carebears around my starting zone. Finally after 8 hours ill have drank all of the monsters and then proceded to die of a heart attack... but at least i died happy because ill be playing the best mmo game ever.

Noob, you need 10 monsters! I prefer the low-carb ones as the regular monsters have alot of sugar, and once it wears off, the sugar will make you tired. :sly:

I'm pretty sure they said that starter gear can't be looted. Though its the most basic of basic gear, you'll want to replace it right away. I could be wrong though heh, I don't know lol.

Ones i stepped into game with open pvp.
There was a guy who lvled to lvl2 killing some mobs then whent back to spawn point where he knew peeps come into game he had already slighty better weapon and i spawned lvl1 and he killed me, my first time, my first experience with open pvp.

So my first reaction was OMG WTF:p

Yeh i was new to this kind of play so it was a bit of over the top for me at that point i was so noob that i res at that same point and that guy killed me again:P

So that was good learning curve for me how these games work:)

The reality:

Try and log in, servers crash, never get in game properly, turn on second comp,

After becoming more and more irate the server comes back up.

For the hour it takes to load the game on my system I will have gotten drunk off of Grey Goose. Once in game I will make a female dwarf so I have some pixel arse to look at while I try to play. I will try to grapple any naked female elf I come across.

I will find the crossway with the most activity, climb the nearest roof, jump off trying to land on someone below, and maybe a guard, to see if they take any damage from the flying dwarf. Also to determine if I get some negative faction. :D After I do that a few times I will than head to the front gates, pass through said gates and head out about 100 yards.

I will attack anyone returning to the city from their latest adventures, if I kill them I will begin yelling free loot. If I die I will try again. Rinse and repeat.

My drunken thoughts will than determine my next actions.

It seems there should be a lot of unnecesary killings out there, so as a humble servant of God i'll try to help the innocents and erase the rotten evil from nearby lands and from your minds!
Think of it, you have to understand that peace will lead us to prosperity!

I will troubleshoot myself into the game. 2 hours later of problemsolving I will log in, roll a dice, pick a race based on my roll and then play a male.
After logging in the game I will check out the basics of the interface, die alot, hide and then attempt to find the nearest vendor that sells some spell scrolls. Learn the basic necessities (Damage, heal, Buff) and then gather enough reagents to last me long enough to leave the bloodshed (dying alot in the process).
Two-hundred, fifty-three and a half deaths (and 4 hours :bang:) later I leave the newb zone of Ganktown and venture into some unknown area with plenty of reagents to harvest. I will practice my basic spellcasting spells until I am proficient enough to kill players and monsters dependably.
The next step would involve scouring the planet in search of as many Necromancy spells as possible until I slowly convert myself into a full-fledged master of the art of Necromancy.
What follows later is to take revenge on all the gankers who tormented me earlier by cursing and slaughtering them with endless undead summons and a barrage of dark spells (please please PLEASE GIVE ME BONE SPEARS!).

We'll run around and slaughter sheep to level our combat skills. Eventually we'll find some badass monster and one of us will go, "Hey, hey. Gio. Attack him. We'll back you up."

Gio will complain, as he is frequently the person we sacrifice and make fun of (every clan has a Gio), but he will eventually smack the half-giant or whatever it is in the shins. We'll watch Gio get punted across our screen and then immediately flee in terror, laughing hysterically in vent all the while. Even if Gio does not get one-shotted, we will not back him up in the slightest.

Then we'll continue in search of a small, out of the way place where we can build our guild shack. Just a tiny shack outside a cave in the middle of the woods. Eventually we'll find the perfect location on the mountaintop. Gio, having respawned, will walk up to the tip and look down.

Not having tested out my PUSH button yet, I'll give Gio a nice shove and send him plummeting to his doom.

Lets see... when I log in I'm going to immediantly look for which buttons move me and run straight into the ation. I'm going to die once or twice before I figure out how to fight. Then I'm going to end up picking off more than I can chew and die a few more times. After that I'll disheartedly close darkfall and watch some anime, come back a few minutes later and die again. After that I'll have a falling-on-my-face skill of around 50 and then the action will really start. I'm going to go on a search for a dragon and it will also own me. After that I'll look for some undead and they will also kill me. By that point, my defense skills will be pretty high so I'm going to start some fights against single mobs instead of trying to fight ten. I'll last a while but then probably die again. Eventually I'll see a rainbow and find a leprachaun. He will also kill me and add my soul to his magical pot of gold. Some other player will, in turn, kill him and loot my soul. They will then sell me to some merchant and I'll be made into a pretty necklace. Some pretty girl will buy me, but then give me to her ugly sister as a present. I will then wish for my own death and delete my character, only to make a new one and end up becomming a ring.

I expect that the opening of DFO live servers will be rather like the test servers in Lineage each time a new patch is being tested.

People will create their chars, log in in town, set up their gear/skills etc. Then the people who already know each other will find each other and band together and mass pvp will start anywhere the guards are not.

People who want to avoid pvp til they know what they are doing will probably sneak out of town and spend as much time as possible avoiding those in the pvp mosh pit until they have grinded out their skills and got some decent gear.

Personally, I'm going to spend as much time exploring the map as possible, whether on my own or with others. Pvp, skills and gear can wait til after we have found the prime site for our clan city : >
