The Varangian Guard served as the elite bodyguards of the Byzantine Emperors, from the late 10th Century till the sacking of Constantinople in the 13th Century at the hands of the 4th Crusade. Their name derives from the Old Norse word for 'oath', and they kept these oaths unto death. Comprised primarily of Northmen, hailing in large part from the lands of Scandanavia and the Rus, they were prized by the Eastern Emperors for their fierce loyalty, as well as their indifference to the swirling machinations of Byzantine politics. They performed the most lethal and sensitive of tasks, dealing with both external military threats and internal intrigues. The Varangian were foes to be treated with fear and respect.
These are our chosen namesake. Like the historical Varangian Guard, we value loyalty and trust above all else. A gaming community should feel like a family; time spent online should be time spent with good friends, all contributing to the collective efforts of the clan. Brothers and Sisters-in-Arms.
But this is not just some warm and comfortable group; this is a competitive and driven bunch. Our previous efforts have resulted in great successes. After having drank from the big cup, having sat at the head of the table, we strive to reach even greater heights in this new endeavor. The lessons we have learned over the years in our various MMORPGS have gained us valuable experience in dealing with a multitude of personalities. All sorts can safely call this home, content in the knowledge that here they can expect comraderie, fairness, good fun, and victory in this, their chosen recreation.

VG founded, defended, and controlled the first pvp city on the flurry server. VG had the longest-standing bases on the server and dominated the galactic civil war.
Age of Conan:
VG had the longest standing tier 3 battlekeep on the Deathwhisper server, defending successfully more time than every other guild on that server combined. VG was also the first on the server to capture a battlekeep by force.
Darkfall Online:
On EU-1, VG was the first guild in the world to siege successfully. We were also instrumental in bringing down one of the largest zergs in MMO history, hyperion.

The Varangian Guard is an extremely competitive pvp guild. We value discipline , teamwork, and competence in our members above all else, and strive for success on the battle and to dominate whatever gaming world we set foot in, by any means necessary. Whether that be martial might, diplomacy, subterfuge, or espionage, we seek to dominate and to be the best.
You will find no drama here, you will find no jackasses here. We believe in quality over quantity, however, if we have 20 quality players thats what we have, if we have 200 quality players, all the better.
Recruitment:
VG believes in being an elite group, but not an elitist group. Everyone is given a chance to prove their worth in the guild, and will fight side by side some of the best players in any game we set foot in.
We are a guild that sets goals and works toward them, when a goal is set everyone is expected to contribute toward it. When our property needs to be defended, we take it very seriously. We get shit done. Whether that goal be building a city, or if we need people to grind their skills to a certain level, we do what is necessary to be competitive.
