Damned shame it doesn't make the game suck less.
I gave it a shot, I truly did, but when they sucked 60 bones out of me to play a extended beta and then tell me if I want to play the game on the continent I live on I'm gonna have to shell out another 60.
Forget it.
Forumfall is a much better game and it's free, too bad it's full of douchebag noobs now.

They are trying to get us to pay another 60 to play on NA servers? Damn, and I was going to give it another shot to...

I finally realized why the game has no immersion. I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but someone on IRC pointed it out and that's when I realized what the problem was.
The world design sucks. It's big, cool. It's handcrafted, cool. But these guys fail at crafting worlds. When you want to travel from one place to another, there is really no choice of travel routes to take. It's nearly always in a straight line. There are no very dense forests that are a pain to navigate, with busy roads running through them. There are no gigantic mountains you have to ride around for 15 minutes because going over them would be hard and time consuming, not to mention dangerous. When they said every part of the world was accessible, what they really meant is that there are no obstacles. I dare say that even a game like WoW had a much better world, at least it was immersive because it felt like a real world.
I canceled my sub today. :(

So if I wait three months and transfer my character then I don't have to pay the 60 bucks? I was under the impression that you had to pay for the "NA client" to play on NA servers.

This is very true and it hadn't come to my attention until you mentioned it. There really is no set routes for anything, when you go somewhere you might as well point yourself in the direction and hit auto-walk every time. In other games the routes are fairly clear and if you venture off from them you'll hit something that would delay you, such as hard mobs or geographic blocks.
Perhaps if they changed that while adding in more story-driven and tutorial like quest it would feel a bit more like a professionally made game.

There really is no way to change it without putting in a huge amount of effort and redesigning the entire world. Maybe when Darkfall 2 comes out, if ever.
I don't have a problem with everything being accessible, but certain places should simply be very hard and slow to navigate through. You should be able to climb a mountain, but it should be hard and if you fall you'd die. It would have to be a realistic looking mountain though, with valleys and everything, not a stupid blob of empty elevated land like in DF.

Mortal Online takes a step in the right direction, although it's far from perfect.

Why is it often a lush world but highly cartoonish look or a relative realistic look, but very bland and uninspiring world.
