Not really, the whole 'we're not sending them the money blah blah blah' is about as effective as a toddler throwing a tantrum. They had to give in at some point and face reality.

From TPB.

"TPB might change owner

Yes, it's true.

News reached the press today in Sweden - The Pirate Bay might get aquired by Global Gaming Factory X AB.

A lot of people are worried. We're not and you shouldn't be either!

TPB is being sold for a great bit underneath it's value if the money would be the interesting part. It's not. The interesting thing is that the right people with the right attitude and possibilities keep running the site.
As all of you know, there's not been much news on the site for the past two-three years. It's the same site essentially. On the internets, stuff dies if it doesn't evolve. We don't want that to happen.

We've been working on this project for many years. It's time to invite more people into the project, in a way that is secure and safe for everybody. We need that, or the site will die. And letting TPB die is the last thing that is allowed to happen!

If the new owners will screw around with the site, nobody will keep using it. That's the biggest insurance one can have that the site will be run in the way that we all want to. And - you can now not only share files but shares with people. Everybody can indeed be the owner of The Pirate Bay now. That's awesome and will take the heat of us.

The old crew is still around in different ways. We will also not stop being active in the politics of the internets - quite the opposite. Now we're fueling up for going into the next gear. TPB will have economical muscles to let people evolve it. It will team up with great technicians to evolve the protocols. And we, the people interested in more than just technology, will have the time to focus on that. It's win-win-win.

The profits from the sale will go into a foundation that is going to help with projects about freedom of speech, freedom of information and the openess of the nets. I hope everybody will help out in that and realize that this is the best option for all. Don't worry - be happy!"

Freedom public pages lol. TPB was a site for the wannabe wicket, real leet haxorz, leechaz and seedarz "went like so underground" a long time ago.

The reason I support TPB in their symbolic stance is because I'm against copyright organisations and big ass lables that use "artist income" to sharpen their own profits.

"you people"?

That's like saying, "YOU PEOPLE ACTUALLY USE GOOGLE!?"

Every public tracker is fucked up because people hit&run like crazy. I'll stick to the private sites where everyone seeds like a whore because you get banned if you don't. 1 megabyte per second ftw.

Megabits, probably. :lmao: Most TPB torrents are horribly seeded unless they're VERY recent.

Search-find-seedsort-dl. Works fine here. I just dl'ed a 2003 game yesterday in 15 minutes.

And it's megabytes. What do you take me for? You? ;)

And how old was that torrent? The age of the game doesn't matter much. If the torrent was old then it must have been a popular game.

You just got lucky. I've tried using TPB pretty often and I KNOW it sucks balls, 9 out of 10 times you end up downloading at 10-100kb/s because there are just a few chumps uploading on their 56k modem. On my private tracker I can find torrents from 2005 with hundreds of seeders.

Not to mention TPB is unreliable, for example I can't even get on the god damn website now, and half the time when you search for something it says the search engine is overloaded. :bang:

This I can relate to. But still. Even if I dl some badly seeded torrent and get 50/kb's it's usually something where I can use my time elsewhere.

If I'd get $7 million dollars for a site I'd sell that shit aswell and move to fucking Jamaica.

Yes, I'm sure TPB caps only my download speed and there's a guy on a computer there intentionally kicking me off the website and denying me use of the search engine on a regular basis.

Doesn't happen to me. And I get good speeds.

Sure you do. Maybe when you download popular tv shows like Heroes. try downloading a random torrent and see what speeds you get. I prefer a private tracker where 300 kb/s is the bare minimum on obscure torrents, kthx.

You do know it was the copyright lovin bastards that made the decision to call us pirates?

Now it's almost a word for freedom. Ironic huh.

The Pirate Bay is a site that is among the top 100 most visited Internet sites in the world. However, in order to live on, The Pirate Bay requires a new business model, which satisfies the requirements and needs of all parties, content providers, broadband operators, end users, and the judiciary,” said Pandeya.

“Content creators and providers need to control their content and get paid for it. File sharers’ need faster downloads and better quality,” he added.

What a retard.

meh I stopped using TPB when Lyons and the other shit stalkers started posting trackers in files and trying to capture peoples IP before sending them naughty letters (I still think that 70 year old couple did pirate 'Sado loving bitch buttfuckers' :o

I went to another site and all that will happen is when TPB start charging for stuff the freetards will simply go elsewhere
