Then came September '06, and we had to scorch the ground & salt the earth in GD in order to stage a fighting retreat to here, our final defensive line. The final announcement of beta saw the bastions here overrun however, and now we are dying one by one.

I may be a '08'er but I remember a time where we could have a proper political debate around here, and people would flame eachother but laugh together at the funny thing post the next day.
Today forumfall is about posting random youtube vids that aren't worth much more than a chuckle, and making threads about "the good old days". Filled with self-proclaimed vets talking about how special OT is.

I believe forumfall died when people started seeing forumfall as a special thing. When forumfall was no longer just a messageboard where a group of Darkfall followers would flame, troll and argue, kept together by the the great wait for something that would never come. When people started talking about how tough and cool OT was, when people proclaimed themselves OT'ers, when people flamed just because "that's what OT does". When OT was proclaimed a scary place full of mean internet tough guys. This inflated the ego's of those already there, and drew many newbs who wanted to be cool as well.

Proper discussions became rare, and the amount of "GTFO out of my OT"s and "put on you flamesuit! (cus this is OT!)"s increased drastically.
Then came that faithful day, the 24th of august 2008, beta and new vids (something not seen in a long while) drew 10000's of new members to the boards. Many of these new members soon became aware of OT. As I said, OT had already changed, but hordes of new people now suddenly completed it's transformation in a matter of days.

Desperate to seperate themselves from the hordes of newbs, the 'vets' re-introduced elitism (something forumfall had known for a long time) like never before. Topped off by Paralda's list. (yes I AM jealous cus I'm not on it)
This caused the newbs to try even harder to fit in, causing lots of unwarranted flaming and ever more post farming (5000+ lol).

Even though forumfall had been reduced to a bad state, the wait for the great DARKFALL, kept it all together. None of these people had waited for years to leave a month before release. As Darkfall came closer people became anxious, some had doubts but most were still fanbois till the end.

Then came Darkfall. People were too busy playing and OT lie silent for a few weeks. Since then many have left Darkfall, and with that lost their main reason to stay on these boards. Now forumfall had to face the truth at last. Forumfall was no longer enough reason to keep coming back to these boards, and many great men who were the foundation of OT left forever. Now the '07 and '08 newbs became arrogant and proclaimed themselves the new vets. '09'ers rarely even bother with OT anymore.
In the end Forumfall became a place where '07 and '08 newbs can jerk eachother off and share memories of a forumfall they never knew.

And that's what we have now. It indeed is a very sad thing.




PS: I know this is like the third reason I give about forumfall dying, and I know I joined just a year ago and I am doing exactly what I declare the death of forumfall in my post but FUCK YOU, I don't care.

PPS: I expect a TL;DR cus this is probably the longest post I've made in a while
