Just curious. Cheers.

Now, they've managed to screw up even the parts that weren't horrible. Both of them.

A bunch of people's playing. Especially many more low lvl characters, probably due to trial mostly and the server mergers.

It's never been shit. There used to be a whole lot of morons who couldn't get the game to work and they whined and quit, (and still some morons having stability problems.) This is at least 90% IMO due to a simple setting in windows I'm been sopamming the forum with. Because those assholes whine, they had to spend several months just looking for memory leaks etc. Runs flawlessly for me since 1-2 weeks after ealy access when I figured the settings out.

And yeah, there is more content, Ymir's pass (zone) f ex and Tarantia commons(zone coming in a few days), dungeons, raids and pvp content like PVP levels, pvp lootable materials, and shorter queues for minigames.

Time does not save a game that is fundamentally flawed.

Hmm. Sounds disappointing. I always did like the idea and certain things about that game.

But the bad outweighed the good.

Thanks for responses.

While I don't like the game, you'd have to be a complete moron to think it was anything like WoW.

It's about as close to WoW as Darkfall is to actual gameplay.

The game was shit when I played it at release and I had very few technical problems. The melee combat "combo" system was terrible. As someone put it, it was password-protected melee moves. Melee PvP was little more than pre-load jousting. And ranged had NO such complication, it was straight up target cast.

Also, I just couldn't handle the constant zone loading. It just doesn't do it for me.

Also, I just couldn't handle the constant zone loading. It just doesn't do it for me.

You do less damage on the last blow if you miss with any of the steps now and you do damage with each swing if the combo end shows more swings. You can do things between steps like cast a spell, block, change weapons (some combos can use several weapon types), dodge or use abilities. I only play meleers and I like the combos and use do things between the steps as well as do things when I see my target is showing a timer bar or I notice animation to indicate they are, usually blocking or interrupts like knockback or stun. They reduced the combo steps a bit as well so that there's weaker burst damage and they are easier to remember and less button bashing.

Spellcasters are only able to hit the front. If you put the shields in their direction, you take -66% damage (except from dots) and they can't hit you behind obstacles anymore due to a second LOS/range check.

Zone loading is faster if you've just been to a place, even if it is with a different character in my experience. And I think it was mention at one point in patch notes soon after launch that loading times got reduced. Think it was within 1 month from early access or something, maybe when they got rid of the debugging stuff.

What? Do spellcasters and ranged still have auto target or not?

They do. Everyone has for ranged weapons, though you don't have to make it your active target to hit them, just face them and get the pointer over them. (The active target doesn't work like in WoW and you can play without using it if you disable auto (active)target). But if they are casting a spell at you and you go behind a pillar or corner, they won't hit you when it finishes casting, nor will it if you are able to go outside the range +25% like if you are mounted or it is a long cast time. Ranged weapons don't have the second check, but rangers aren't any good end-game.

That's entirely not true. I just did the free trial again, felt like I was playing WoW with tits. I could take a shit and the game would level me up, there were GPS markers telling me where to go and what to do. I could only go in ONE direction, and the combat was nearly the same, if somewhat LESS diverse and easier. Nothing ever even came close to killing me, and I was totally naked.

But if they are casting a spell at you and you go behind a pillar or corner, they won't hit you when it finishes casting, nor will it if you are able to go outside the range +25% like if you are mounted or it is a long cast time. Welcome to Dark Age of Camelot, a game that had that basic shit down in 2001. Oh how far we have fallen.

Funny, the game promised no stealth button, no auto target for ranged, and a deep complex magic system with something kind spell weaving. Lovely how none of that made it into the game. Lovely how a year later none of its in. Actually, I think Age of Conan holds the record for most promised features not in at release.

Well, I played the beta a little while ago, and it was still utter shit. The tutorial was fun as hell, then from 2-10 it was alright. And then I couldn't make it past 11 due to it being boring as shit. Oh, and rolling a warrior class, I couldn't do any of the quests on that one island since there was always a ranged class 7 levels ahead of me in nice gear, camping it out.

What else can I expect from a game with levels though? They're pretty much destined to be shit.

Spell weaving comes later, but as you were on trial you no doubt never made it high enough in level and let's not get into games that promised features that never made it....

Roll on a PvE server if you can't handle PvP ya carebear or you can suck it up and avoid White Sands until you're ready.

That depends on the population and the time of day, but there's only 2 areas lvl 20- that are PvP enabled, even on PvP servers. You don't need to go there to lvl up and the quality of their gear doesn't matter much, though 7 levels matters more than 7 levels later, you can often kill players 7 levels plus solo. Even when I was playing at release, it wasn't so bad you literally couldn't do the quests, and if you got one or 2 players to join your group, you could/can easily kill a ganker. And of course soldier classes would be one of the worst since they suck at stealth. The really dedicated gankers aren't 7 levels higher than you, those guys just want some PvP. It's the guys lvl 20-25 who are the worst since they have no business being there and you're supposed to leave for the mainland at lvl 19.

The other problem with soldiers is that they rely on the defense stat, and get lots of it from heavier armor, but it doesn't do anything in PvP. They are dropping that stat in patch 1.05 though.
