Seriously. Go out and work for the commune, give to the commune and speak well of the commune. Enjoy the equality Communism will provide.

What does forumfall have against doing favors for everyone all the time? The commune will appreciate those favors and then do you favors.

and if you and some folks, decide to live that way...go for it

one of the3 wonderful things about our system is that you can go off, build your community and live the way you like..as long as you are within the Law

quite telling that the converse has not ever been true until the last 20 years or so in China...and even that is tenuous at best, and the vast majority of her billion plus people are completely outside and untouched by the modernization of the populous, urban centers

I'm all for communism, but not until the robots take over. Humans aren't equipped for governing the enlightened society as our forthcoming benevolent robotic Patriarchs will be.

Only flaw in your argument is property taxes, which for someone in a commune provide no benefit at all (except perhaps for funding the US military's defense of you (which is nowhere near the majority of their activities anyway), and then that only leaves federal property taxes, and I'm not even 100% certain that those exist). Admittedly that's the ONLY one, though, so you have a valid point overall.

Then we will have a Butlerian Jihad to deal with. Or Terminators......The Butlerian Jihad against the Terminators.....Oh yeah, rock!

Slavery was abolished because it was uneconomic since you have to make sure your slaves are healthy and fed or you'll have to buy new ones, serfs (aka the working class) will work their little hearts out for less money.

By the way, I'd totally want communism if society was <1000 people.

That was the original idea of socialism, such as Saint-Simonism and Owenism. The idea was to have many small communes, which were to function as individual societies within a larger society. These societies would then freely trade goods with each other, such as commune one trading timber for commune two's food. And the goods would all be distributed equally, and everyone would have great living and working conditions.

Marx had a similar idea, so early communism (marxism) was almost identical in how it was meant to work. People were supposed to live in small communities, as opposed to large cities. This idea of communism became Menshivism, which is why in the earliest months of Soviet Russia, there were nothing but communes. However, Bolshevism had the shitty idea of communism, and you can see how that works out.

I'd say it works much better than capitalism in small communities. Humans have built in reflexes for who should have what that works excellent on a tribe scale since everyone knows everyone. Imagine what the community would do to a hunter that said he should have more meat since it was his kill.

You're just aping stuff you've been fed, so used to economics only working on a nation wide scale.

Capitalism doesn't exclude communalism though; most people don't grasp this concept.

I could really use a bj. Is that a offer to help? In return I can give the *cough* community 5 bucks.
