Well, i think this would solve it:

First there should be a HARD CAP. Allow me to explain my ideia.

You first separate into groups of skills, for example:

A) Combat Skills
B) Gathering/ Crafting Skills
C) useless skills (couldn't think of a name)

To group A you give a hard cap of 600 points
to group B you give a hard cap of points
to group C you give you give no hard cap, they wouldn't count.

Group A would be
Melee weapons
Archery
Magic
(I came up with these number without taking into consideration the wep masteries and durable spells/intensify/etc - Also the SPELLS would not count either)

So 1 point 1 melee weapon skill would count as 1.
1 point in LM would count as 1.
1 point in GM would count as 2.
1 point in Elementals would count as 2,5.
1 point in WC/SC would count as 2.
1 point in NECRO/ARCANE would count as 2,5.
1 point in Archery would count as 3.

That given, regarding combat skills you would have to think about what character u will build. Also, take into consideration that we should allow two handed weapons to be used on mounts.. without damage increase in comparsion to one handed damage. Maybe a slight higher damage, as u can't use shields.

Ur char could be a mage - but if u want to succeed u would have to give up archery.
U could be an archer but u would not be able to go very far in magic. Enough to heal urself, jump walls etc, though.
U could also think of a hybrid. Possibilities potentially increase.

To group B the same rule would apply - think of a hard cap number and make the person FOCUS their crafting in one or maximum two things.

Group C would be like those skills such as swimming, running, sprint, riding, crouch, etc... I don't think they should count in the cap at all.

Take into consideration that you could :

- Choose which skills will go up.
- Choose which skills will decay.
- Choose which skills wil be locked and won't change.

I think that by implementing such a system, we would improve crafting / economy as less people would be doing a lot of things, and then most people would be doing one or two itens of their specialty (they could do a lot of things though, its just they couldn't be good at all of them, makes sense huh)

We would have people CHOOSING between ranged damage by ARCHERY or MAGIC. This would make Robes start to mean something.

Anyway, I obviously think this suggestion need to be adjusted and all, but i honestly feel it's a good start, please feel free to give ur opinion.

Also, the values i mentioned are just something that came up in my mind now so that could be balanced.

Thanks for reading.
